The grand finale will highlight our Miss Fashionetta participants, who are outstanding high school age young ladies. The young ladies and their families have worked hard as they have participated in this program over the last 4 months. Just as a beautiful pearl is one of the most valuable gems, these lovely young ladies are prized for their intelligence, great spirit, loving and willing attitudes and elegance. Over the course of the program, they have attended etiquette workshops, sessions on financial literacy and developed an actual business plan. They have also attended a worship service and have participated in community service projects. As a result of their total involvement and dedication to the program goals and objectives, our Miss Fashionetta young ladies are ready to meet the challenges that await them.
The enclosed Souvenir Journal is a journey through memories and reflections. I welcome you to enjoy the words and images collected in these pages. Each entry, like a brushstroke on the canvas of our collective history, contributes to the rich tapestry of our community
May this souvenir journal serve as a cherished keepsake, preserving the essence of our shared journey for years to come Join us in relishing the memories, honoring the contributors, and celebrating the vibrant community that has made this journal possible. Thank you and enjoy!
The Miss Fashionetta Program is a true celebration of young ladies discovering who they are & who they can become. The positive mentoring of the program encourages them to dream, plan & take steps to ensure a positive future. The young ladies you will see this evening have developed into stronger leaders on their high school campuses & community groups
Accepted into the Miss Fashionetta Program in February 2024, these ladies have worked hard to prepare for this culminating pageant held June 9, 2024 Planning for the program began way back in August and I am pleased see how the ladies, their families, and all the participants have begun to benefit from the effort all our committee members and mentors have put into the program
Miss Fashionetta® is a biennial scholarship program & pageant. During the program, our young ladies complete etiquette and financial literacy workshops, church fellowship, community service & an Economic Wealth Entrepreneurship Challenge where they develop and present a business plan. The program culminates in a pageant showcasing the young girls’ leadership and poise This year, we are also excited to welcome back our “Littles ” These children, kindergarten through fourth grade, will take the stage and share their talent in dance We will also welcome a few young men that will serve as escorts for the young ladies and we are thrilled to have a small number of participants from the Youth Leadership Institute serve as ushers for the pageant
As the Chairperson of this event, I thank the entire community for supporting these young ladies by purchasing ads, sponsorships and tickets; welcoming them at your church service & community events like the Bakersfield Women’s Conference; and encouraging them with your smiles and cheerful words. You will hear the fruits of your financial support when the scholarship awards are announced this evening They will see the fruits of your financial support when they enroll in college They will personally experience the growth in their self-confidence as they stand before the audience this evening as confident “polished” precious pearls
I thank the parents who “loaned” us their daughters for the last four months I have been so blessed by the opportunity to work with them and see them work with all the committee member and mentors Your daughters are strong, intelligent, curious, and have considerable character I will keep them, and you, on my prayer list .
Thank you, the reader of this Souvenir Journal, as well. As you leaf through the vibrant pages of this journal, take a moment to reflect on the spirit of togetherness that unites us all. Whether it's the echo of laughter at a community event, the dedication of individuals who have made a lasting impact, or the milestones that mark our progress, every element within these pages tells a unique story
Thank you for being a part of this special occasion, and may the pages ahead be a source of inspiration, reflection, and joy.
It is with great anticipation and excitement that I welcome you to Miss Fashionetta 2024, EPIC: Enchanting Pearls of Illustrious Character. This year we are pleased to present six young high school ladies from the Bakersfield, California area, as well five “littles”.
Over the past four months our participants have been hard at work preparing not only for today, but for the challenges they will face in life ahead of them They have participated in workshops, including financial literacy and etiquette.
They also took part in an Economic Wealth Entrepreneurship challenge, where they interviewed local business owners, toured a locally owned business, and created a business pitch with their own business idea! When I tell you these young ladies have a very bright future ahead of them, I am not exaggerating.
In addition to the workshops and the entrepreneurial challenge, the young ladies have also continued to participate in community service independently.
You’ll also have a chance to view their vision boards detailing how they foresee their future Did I mention they have rhythm too? You’ll be able to witness for yourselves as they will showcase their moves with their fathers and high school escorts.
Let’s not forget our adorable littles. We have four Little Miss Ivy Angel participants and one Mister Debonair participant They are sure to steal your hurt with their presentations.
Co-Chair, Miss Fashionetta 2024
Drion, Khori, LeoNah, Milaana, Moriah and Precious, I have been truly impressed by all of you When we came up with the theme for this year (EPIC: Enchanting Pearls of Illustrious Character), we had no idea how much you would embody and epitomize these words. Your grace, poise, sense of humor, intelligence and support of each other has been nothing short of amazing
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your village and know that we will always be a source of support You have been a joy to work with and I can’t wait to see all that you will accomplish
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank all members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc who worked tirelessly to ensure this was a successful event None of this would be possible without you, so thank you, thank you, thank you!
