H ISTORY
Fashionetta™ is an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., federally registered program. Through the program's fund-raising efforts, the Sorority supports leadership and service activities throughout the international community. The Fashionetta™ experience provides participants with amazing academic and social experiences that inspire the pursuit of higher education and supports their development into productive, caring and educated adults. Many of the young women who have participated have since graduated from college and are making substantial efforts to improve society.
Since 1985, the local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has sponsored the Miss Fashionetta Scholarship Program to inspire and mentor young women as they advance from high school to college and beyond, and to support their scholarship and future academic endeavors. This year is the chapter's 25th Miss Fashionetta Program. The Chapter is proud to collaborate with the Bakersfield Ivy Legacy Foundation, Inc., to sponsor this great scholarship event.
