Over the last forty years, the Sheffield-based business has evolved into a formidable market-leading cutting company. Proudly marked as a ‘Made in Sheffield’ company, the family-run business now offers bevel waterjet cutting, 6 metre flat laser cutting, 4 metre profile bending and pressing alongside the original flame cutting and much more. “This is largely limitless across a wide range of materials, including Hardox and Wear plate of which customers are finding particularly useful as a cost-effective alternative to machining. This is complimented by its large cutting bed of 9m x 4m.” One of the reasons Charles Day is so popular amongst its clients is because their services are suitable for a wide variety of industries from construction and automotive to aerospace, agriculture, and oil and gas. “Our latest investment is a 320 tonne press brake, capable of bending much thicker materials over a width of 4,100mm. With laser powers now able to cut much thicker materials (our 15kW and 20kW machines can cut up to 50mm thick), its important our press brake capabilities are able to service larger and thicker bending requirements in house.”
