We’re proud to be the biggest single provider of Higher Education courses in an FE college in England. And one of only three colleges in the country to receive a triple TEF gold rating* - we even outperformed some much larger universities and ones with hefty reputations too. It’s also worth knowing that many of our degrees are awarded by Lancaster University, which consistently ranks in the UK’s top ten. All of which are great reasons to consider doing a degree-level qualification with us.

To cover the cost of your degree, you may want to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan. You can also apply for a Maintenance Loan to help with living expenses while you study. But that’s not all, depending on your personal circumstances, you may be eligible for additional financial support from both the Government and B&FC.

Degrees done differently

Because we’re always looking to put our learners at the heart of everything we do, we’re happy to change things up.

We understand that a traditional three-year degree isn’t the right fit for everyone. That’s why we offer flexible degree-level qualifications that let you study one year at a time.

We’re also launching a two-year acceleratedhonours degree in Business Management, designed to fast-track your qualification and save you thousands in tuition fees.

That’s why we encourage you to attend one of our open events, so you can tour the campus, meet tutors, and explore our excellent facilities. No matter how detailed a prospectus or website is, it can’t capture the full experience of studying here.

If you’re interested in developing a career in a highly skilled industry such as engineering, it’s good to know that B&FC is the lead institution for the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology (L&CIoT). IoTs were introduced by the Government to establish a national network of organisations offering outstanding technical education. As a result, certain degree qualifications we offer have been flagged as L&CIoT courses. What this means is that they not only offer exceptional technical training and access to fantastic facilities but also meet an identified skills gap in the region, indicating that employment opportunities are plentiful.

The next few pages list the courses we offer, showing the year-on-year progression routes you can follow depending on where you start.

You’ll notice that some of our courses offer a four-year pathway including a Foundation Year. This is a new addition allowing students who haven’t quite achieved the grades they’d hoped for (at Level 3) to still enrol on a programme that could eventually lead to a full honours degree awarded by one of the UK’s top universities.

on the horizon

Multiversity – the future of degree-level study in Blackpool

If you live locally, you’re probably aware that there are plans to move Blackpool and The Fylde College’s University Centre to a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in central Blackpool called the Multiversity. Plans for the final design have been submitted by Blackpool Council and we are looking forward to starting the build itself shortly. In fact, if you stay with us for the full three years, you could be one of the first people to study here.

Designed to provide the local population and local business with an exceptional teaching and learning space offering the best of modern learning technologies and with a curriculum inspired by the needs of industry, we believe Multiversity will truly be at the epicentre of Blackpool’s economic, social and cultural regeneration for years to come.
