New Barco ClickShare survey finds that 72% of workers have had a negative hybrid working experience

As a new Barco ClickShare survey reveals today, 1 in 3 workers (33%) who mostly work in the office found it easier to tell when a colleague is overworked or stressed when seeing them face to face, leaving remote workers at risk of struggling under the radar of management teams. This comes as over 1 in 4 (27%) of staff report experi-

gagement from work due to poor management and tech overload (14%).

Recent research suggests that quiet quitting is a growing phenomenon in the hybrid workplace and one which employers will have to keep a firm grip on in order to manage staff wellbeing and productivity levels.

According to a June 2022 study by global

Without day-to-day contact, it is difficult to notice changes in someone’s behaviour if they feel muted and starting conversations about wellbeing on online work platforms can be challenging.”

Six in Seven Consumers Desire Simplicity in Entertainment Experiences, Accenture Report Finds

“Reinvent for Growth” report highlights how media companies can improve user experiences and drive revenue with new entertainment ecosystems

As part of its second annual global entertainment study, Accenture surveyed 6,000 consumers to understand their preferences and behaviors regarding their online entertainment experiences. Four in 10 respondents (41%) said they would pay for an all-in-one platform for their entertainment services. In addition, three in five (61%) want the ability to share their streaming profiles across platforms to allow for better personalization of content. “Standalone streaming services are running up against some simple facts: There

More than seven in 10 consumers (72%) reported frustration at finding something to watch, up 6 percentage points from last year.

More than half (55%) of consumers said they are overwhelmed by the number of streaming services to choose from, with 26% saying it can take them more than 10 minutes to settle on a streaming choice (up from 17% last year).

Accenture’s report also identifies three emerging roles for entertainment companies that are competing for consumers’ time, attention and money:

Audience aggregators are platform companies with a diversified business model that monetize attention and engagement

two crucial outcomes — creating inclusive, lower churn services and bundles that will drive revenue for media companies, while delivering experiences that enable consumers to easily find and access content.”

The research findings suggest that there could be a cohort of people whose stress levels and workload pressures are going unnoticed by their colleagues and managers – which could create a ticking mental health time bomb.

“While it is clear that the hybrid model is here to stay and enjoys great popularity

“However, if new tools and practices can be brought in to make wellbeing an active part of someone’s daily agenda, then the hybrid world can make taking specific action more impactful,” posits Dr Tang. “Leaders must remain mindful that a transition to the ‘new normal’ is not a return to the ‘old’ way of working. It is time for them to actively listen to their workforce, to take the time to spot the social, biological, practical and verbal indicators of workplace stress and create an atmosphere of compassion.”

Other findings from the report further highlight the need for media organizations to reconsider their operational and content strategies:

Audience cultivators will create and efficiently monetize entertainment in one or multiple forms (e.g., video, music, gaming etc.) by knowing their core audience, focusing on content/cost efficiency, and ensuring that they’re included in audience aggregator platforms and bundles.

A further quarter (25%) of workers report feeling stressed out by all the meeting technology they are expected to use and just under 1 in 5 (19%) state that hybrid working has had a negative influence on their collaboration with colleagues, with over a third (35%) of remote staff stating they miss in-person interactions with co-workers.

The Barco Meeting Barometer is an annual index charting worker’s satisfaction with their hybrid meeting environments. Looking at a sample of 5,000 workers spread across Europe and the U.S, the latest index found that worker satisfaction came to -25%. While a recorded rise in satisfaction of 13% can be garnered when compared to a November 2021 study by Barco, the overall sentiment towards hybrid meeting experience would benefit from significant improvement.

Following almost 3 years of familiarity with remote and hybrid work, the survey found that 65% of workers are either back in the office full time or spend more time in the office than remote – but almost a third (31%) wish they could work from home more often. That said, quiet quitting has begun to take hold, as almost a quarter (23%) of workers explicitly reporting disen-

Laleeuwe continued: “With many employees reporting disengagement from their work, or “quiet quitting” due to poor management and overwhelm caused by the various tech tools they’re being told to use, it is clear that the learnings from the last three years of hybrid work need a more concerted effort to be implemented correctly, to the benefit of all. If businesses expect to get the best out of their teams, they must provide them with the tools they need to feel supported and heard, wherever they are remote or in-office.”

Exertis announces Seceon as its first UK disti

Exertis has partnered with Seceon, the pioneer of the first fully-automated, real-time cyber threat detection, containment and elimination platform. Seceon empowers enterprises, service providers and MSSPs with its award-winning, best-in-class solutions for detection and prevention of all known and unknown cyber threats in real-time, from outside and within an organisation.

The spectrum of offering is huge to develop customised IT solutions for a wide range of customer needs. Seceon and Exertis have partnered up to develop new channels for the Seceon Open Threat Management (OTM) platform and the solutions – aiSIEM, aiMSSP and aiXDR - built on the platform. The solution uses Machine Learning to develop an understanding of future threats rather than simply relying upon the threats already noticed, and can then immediately quarantine and fix, or notify a human being for attention.

Dominic Ryles, Director of Sales and Commercial – Security, Exertis Enterprise, said: “I’m excited to have Seceon join the Exertis Enterprise – Security solution stack as it gives our channel partners the tools

they need to better equip themselves for visibility and actionable insights into the types of malicious threats that are targeting organisations today. It’s estimated that the Detection & Response market will grow at a 40% CAGR by 2026 (Canalys Estimate: October 2022), of which Seceon plays a pivotal role in this arena and promises a huge growth area for many of our channel partners who are looking to turn themselves into an MSSP or offer SOC-level services to their customers.

Seceon’s award-winning aiSIEM, aiMSSP, and aiXDR solutions are run on their Open Threat Management Platform, which means channel partners don’t have to have a huge amount of expertise in this field, as they are guided by machine learning-based behavioural analytics and AI-based decision making – to raise and eliminate only the qualified cyber security threats, proactively and confidently.”

“Globally cybersecurity market is growing at a higher rate because of focus on digitization due to government initiatives and also increased cyber-attacks,” said Lalit Shinde, Chief Revenue Officer at Seceon.

The June acquisition of Telford-based audiovisual and digital signage specialist Skratch by L.B. Foster Company (NASDAQ: FSTR) is viewed by the team leading Skratch as an exciting enabler for future growth and expansion into new markets, via the supply of leading-edge digital technologies.

Skratch has been delivering several specialist services, including digital signage for retail, as well as bespoke digital out-of-home (OOH) experiences since 2013. Prior to its acquisition, L.B. Foster had worked with Skratch on digital solutions for the retail sector, including the first digital signage application using British Sign Language interpreters in ASDA superstores. Ian Beeley is Head of Digital Display at Skratch. He says: “L.B. Foster is the perfect partner to take what we do at Skratch to the next level. It provides us with electrical installation and Principal Contractor expertise, as well as service and maintenance capability. And as part of a global business, we will be better placed to unlock opportunities that are currently out of our reach.” Skratch has established a unique market position, offering a single-point supply solution model for clients with the entire process - from concept to project delivery and maintenance - delivered in-house. In 2018, the company launched an innovative CMS system that enabled a simple user interface, administration control, and full functionality for non-conventional display formats, such as stretch displays and LED. Continued investment in the software includes operational updates, additional functionality, and increased input options for gesture control, touch display, and audience analytic integration.

In 2020, and the onset of the global COVID19 pandemic, Skratch expanded its operations to facilitate large-scale deployments of solutions previously only supplied for low-volume or proof-of-concept scenarios. Ian Beeley explains: “COVID was a gamechanger for the business. Zytronic showcases ‘transparent goods’ Hi-Fi concept

UK touchscreen and glass processing expert Zytronic is reinventing the white goods category with its futuristic new ‘transparent goods’ Hi-Fi system concept, powered invisibly using NSG TEC electrically conductive glass. The ElectroglaZ music system comprises of a single, upright sheet of laminated glass, which simultaneously powers a set of Bluetooth speakers, a media player and an LCD screen, surrounded by a multicoloured LED array. The stereo can be controlled via seven projected capacitive touch buttons which are carved into the surface of the glass to create a tactile feel for the user.

The coated glass acts as a wire, transferring power through conduction, creating the effect that the components are freely ‘floating’ within an optically clear panel.

The sound system has recently been showcased at glass industry show, GLASSTEC in Düsseldorf, and Light + Building in Frankfurt, the world’s leading trade fair for light-

ing and building services technology, where it drew interest from product designers and architects.

The Hi-Fi system is part of a range of ElectroglaZ concepts Zytronic have created for the home, including a suspended transparent LED lit halo lighting design, a glass coffee table capable of charging mobile phones and tablets via inbuilt induction charging, and a transparent ‘huddle’ meeting room panel with video camera and LCD display powered through the glass. Zytronic is best known for its highly durable projected capacitive touchscreen technologies used in variety of self-service and commercial applications, such as ticket vending machines, ATMs and outdoor EV charging stations.

Dr Andrew Morrison, Technical Director at Zytronic said: “Minimalist designs have long been popular in the electronic market, with consumers opting for sleek, simplistic options for their devices. However, this has been harder to achieve in sound system

product design, due to the need for wires to transmit music and sound. But the ElectroglaZ Hi-Fi concept unit delivers this, modernising the traditional ‘white goods’ category with a transparent home appliance that utilises wireless power delivery to create a sleek design without the aesthetic disruption of power cables.”

Alderlan Vitalino from NSG Group said: “The home is becoming increasingly high tech, with smart devices, voice controlled lighting and automated appliances modernising every facet of household life. Zytronic’s technology offers new design possibilities across almost every appliance you can find in the home, providing new ways to create high-tech looking products. “The unique properties of NSG TEC™ make it an ideal choice for a wide range of household products. It is highly durable, and the glass surface can be wiped down easily when cleaning, making products which use it, such as the Hi-Fi concept unit, able to withstand daily use in a busy household.”

The LED Studio launches V1 Architecture

The LED Studio, powered by VOD Visual, is reshaping the LED display landscape through the launch of its V1 Architecture, which will debut at ISE on Booth 3R250.

This is the industry’s first LED display cabinet design that is compatible with three advanced LED technologies, further enhancing the sustainability credentials and future-proofing solutions.

The world-class proprietary cabinet infrastructure permits the LED display to be constructed in SMD, Flip-Chip SMD or Flip-Chip SMD High Bright thanks to the engineered design that adjusts how the PCBs are manufactured. Granting access to three different technology manufacturing methods offers varying visual, economic and financial benefits for end users, and presents options for upgrading the technology in the future.

The V1 Architecture only requires 30% of the display to be replaced during the upgrade, so 70% remains intact to reduce waste and enable accurate forecasts for future project developments. V1 Architecture is a joint venture between two leading LED display technology innovators, forming one of the AV industry's most progressive and trailblazing partnerships. Together

The LED Studio and VOD Visual provide the most high-performing, sustainable, future-proofed and economically conscious LED display solutions worldwide.

Rob Bint, CEO of The LED Studio, comments: “Our ability to present an LED display with the option to choose from three advanced manufacturing technologies and various pixel pitches is a massive evolution in the LED industry. It answers multiple end-user-specific demands by granting access to advanced technologies within their current budgets whilst helping to plan for

future upgrades that are more attainable. This is a significant turning point in a move towards a more sustainable display industry. It marks the first time a single display has embodied flexibility and sustainability to protect initial investments, reduce waste and support technology progression.”

The V1 Architecture is being launched within The EDGE Pro LED display - another industry display first. The EDGE Pro single die-cast cabinets are designed as a direct replacement for 43” LCDs, measuring 43” diagonal, 38mm deep and weighing just 11kg to replicate the specifications of standard 43” LCD commercial panels.

The panel offers two mounting methods, allowing it to be installed directly onto a load-bearing wall or hung on standard VESA mounts. The EDGE Pro is three times brighter than traditional LCDs, reaching

three-year lifecycle.

The EDGE Pro delivers visual excellence derived from the varying benefits of SMD, lip-Chip SMD technology and Flip Chip High Bright. Wide viewing angles, colour accuracy, high dynamic range and DCI-P3 compliance to deliver stunning visual results. The display also achieves an impressive refresh rate of 3840Hz, ideal for immersive applications to define images and eliminate motion blur. Rob Bint, CEO of The LED Studio explains: “In addition, our LED display solutions are built to the highest sustainability standards whilst never compromising on display brightness, colour, or performance, and The EDGE Pro is no exception. The display’s clever design and industry-leading sustainability credentials contribute to the overall market development of LED displays, making this

up to 4000 Nits (when using Flip -Chip High-Brightness pixel technology) to ensure no fading or distortion to the image quality in any indoor environment. The LED Studio uses proprietary sustainability technology to reduce power consumption by up to 75% compared to average LCDs.

The EDGE Pro has an operating expectancy of over 100,000 hours, compared to LCDs'

technology more accessible and cost-effective for indoor digital signage, corporate and education applications.”

The EDGE Pro is part of The LED Studio’s EDGE Series that offers LED displays in 55” cabinet sizes with direct HDMI connectivity.

All EDGE Series displays are available now in pixel pitches ranging from 0.75mm up to 2.5mm for global rollouts.

During our lives and careers we WIN and LOOSE many times!

Will I get the main part in the school musical?

Will I be selected for university?

Will I get the job out of 100 applicants?

Will my organization win the 10-year contract worth a hundred million?

Winning is often associated with luck, but what if I told you that you can learn to win! Not by cheating or having the lowest price or demands? But winning by making use of a technique called Value: Value Based Winning. People and experts are often not fully aware of their value and how it relates to the ‘world’ or to their environment.

The book, ‘The secret of Value Based Winning’ is a compact book of 74 pages, with a step-by-step approach. It explains simplified and codified winning, making use of the value that is inside of every person, team or organization.

It gives guidance how to first learn to think like the client and learn what value the client truly seeks. The book explains the use of the different dimensions of showing value: The WHAT, the HOW, the WHY and the BELIEF-SYSTEM. What differentiates this approach is the addition and insight of the different BELIEF-SYSTEMS. BELIEF-SYSTEMS are a very relevant part of the winning process, however often kept invisible during the winning process.

The comparison to the roots of the tree highlights how the belief system plays an important role in winning a

project. Everyone initially focusses on the fruits of the tree (often the project tender), however, the roots of the tree are often the most relevant part to address (why a tender was issued, not just the specifications).

The book contains several industry and personal examples to grasp the idea of value based winning, whereby the book focusses on the discovery-phase: Match and see the different (potential) values. The value-based-winning-matrix can be used as a fill-in exercise to guide you step-by-step and closer to winning.

Once you start to see how the value based winning process works, you will get better and more effective every time you are in the winning and convincing process.

“As someone who has built a successful media business over the last 30 years, seen it develop and diversify into new media and adopt new technologies as a means of production and communication, some people would describe me as one of nature’s ‘winners’. But there remains a lingering doubt. Even where I have clearly been perfectly positioned for success, with the right skills, knowledge and resources. I have not always won in competition with others clearly, in my view, less able or suitable competitors.

Patrick’s book is a roadmap to different way of winning, and one that I wish I had as my guide those 30 years ago.”

Music L-Acoustics makes Post Malone’s sparkle

To support his fourth and newest studio album, Twelve Carat Toothache Post Malone opted not to stay “Cooped Up” by hitting the road this fall for a 38-date North American arena tour with special guest Roddy Ricch. With PRG recently re-joining the singer/rapper as his touring sound reinforcement provider, one thing that remained unchanged on the Twelve Carat Tour was the artist’s reliance on L-Acoustics K Series loudspeakers, which had also been deployed on his last major run, 2019/20’s Runaway Tour. Manning the FOH mix each night was

subs were complemented by eight more KS28 on the arena floor. Additionally, four hangs of six Kara were horizontally flown as audience pit-fills, bringing the grand total of L-Acoustics loudspeakers up to 192, which were powered by 96 LA12X amplified controllers and driven by two P1 Milan AVB FOH processors.

“With the help of my good friend Dave Brooks at L-Acoustics, along with Posty Touring’s Production Manager Dennis Danneels and PRG's Burton Tenenbein, the PA design that we came up with very effectively kept the energy at least 15 dB down on

ton has a very discerning ear, so hitting his target curve without a bunch of filters was crucial, and the FIR filters really let me dial in and make every seat the best seat in the house. Also, Autoclimate’s temperature and humidity compensation was a lifesaver for keeping the show under control. We time and tune the rig when it’s a cold, empty arena, so with 20,000 people screaming and a ton of pyro, those conditions change quickly. P1 allowed these adjustments to be made reliably and consistently on the fly, and the processor made it very easy to route for ADA feeds, records, walk-in

Projection mapping Prestonwood Christmas extravaganza shines with PIXERA

Prestonwood Baptist Church is a dynamic and highly successful church in North Texas. The Christmas show event that Prestonwood produces each year at their Plano campus has become a popular highlight of the Christmas season, with more than 70,000 attendees purchasing tickets each year.

Combining a nearly 1,000-member strong cast and choir, live orchestra, flying angels and cutting-edge audio-visual technology, this visually stunning Christmas pageant offers both a chance to pause and reflect on the true meaning of the season and world

Prestonwood Baptist Church’s Andy Pearson took on the role of creative director, with Matt Webb of UVLD (Unlimited Visibility Lighting Design) as the production designer. UVLD’s Greg Norgeot completed the team as the overall technical director. The carefully constructed stage itself was 170 feet wide by 100 feet deep and functioned on four different vertical levels, integrating six multi-axis flying tracks and nine vertical flying tracks. ZFX provides all the live performer flying as well as the scenic automation. One of many impressive visual elements were 11 flying drummers with

playback and video engineering. Cameron Yeary, TMG’s visual media developer, describes the complexities involved with realizing smooth video mapping and tracking for the monumental production: “The actual projection tracking part moves across a three-projector blend, but the 3D space is very narrow. When you have great height and width but little depth, the 3D calibration and line-up can be very tricky. Let's not forget that these panels move very quickly, so it takes incredible precision to ensure the tracking is smooth and precise over that many surfaces.”

According to Bruns, the sound system approach for Malone’s latest tour was somewhat unconventional, which was a direct answer to the unique layout of the stage. “The stage featured three parallel thrusts—I called it ‘the trident’—which really made the show about Post,” he describes. “He had access to the entire arena floor, which fans absolutely loved. This design required re-thinking the classic approach of two large hangs of PA flanking a normal stage, but with a distributed system approach of eight hangs of L-Acoustics K2 arrays, I could be more precise with my Soundvision predictions, which allowed a more consistent SPL around the entire arena.”

With three arrays per side lining the left and right thrusts and two more arrays firing out at the end, much like a typical left/right mains setup, the PA was comprised of eight identical hangs of 16 K2 enclosures. Four cardioid-configured hangs of eight KS28

the runways minimizing bleed into Post’s microphone,” he continues. “I also highpassed his mic at 125 Hz to address the low end, but there really wasn’t anything to worry about beyond that, and the system’s coverage of the audience was dead-on as Soundvision predicted.”

Ishmael shares that low end is always a huge component of his mix equation. “For me, it sets the foundation for the balance of the mids and highs,” he says. “Post’s music contains quite a variety of different lowend ‘flavors’ and is tremendously dynamic, so subs have to keep up with the punch needed. Thankfully, KS28 goes low, moves fast, and can take a serious beating. Those who know me and the way I mix will tell you that I have two volume levels: soft and full-power loud. I push the system, mixing not only for the sonic details but for feeling and to get an audience involved. I want to give them the experience of life-like sound. To accomplish this, I need power, dynamic woofers, and zero musical distortion.

L-Acoustics delivers all of that.”

From a system tuning perspective, Bruns notes that Soundvision’s Autosolver tools, especially Autofilter, were great for helping him “get the rig quickly to where it needed to be sonically each night,” he says. “Bur-

music, and so on. With P1, we drove the system Milan AVB and had perfect and consistent network reliability—the rig never once went into fallback.”

Bruns points to Ishmael as the one who ultimately decided to specify K2 for the fall tour, citing “coverage and consistency across the entire audience plane being the most important factor in that choice. Plus, the support we got from L-Acoustics through the entire tour, from prep to the final show, was incredible,” Bruns adds. “As they say, the best sound comes from one source.”

Following the holiday season downtime, Post Malone’s touring itinerary picks back up in January and February for a New Zealand and Australia run before reportedly heading off to other parts of the world. Audio Austrian Submarine dive discovers “Sound of the Earth”

Germany-based wireless cameras & comms specialist HDwireless chose Clear-Com digital wireless solutions supplied by Audio-Technica to power their comms during a submarine expedition to the bottom of the deepest lake in Austria, part of a research project (“Tiefenrausch”) meant to discover “the sound of the Earth.”

The expedition spanned five 12-hour days, and reliable communication technology was essential, in part because the crew had to obtain approval from the Austrian military to sail out to the dive site each

Patrick continues. “If you’re out there and have no way to communicate with the submarine, the OB van or the crew on land, you have a real problem. It’s a big security factor.”

The submarine was manned by four people: a pilot, a co-pilot, a presenter for the TV show, and a guest, all of whom were equipped with FreeSpeak Edge beltpacks.

The intent of the submarine’s voyage was to retrieve a hydrophone previously sunk to the bottom of the lake, which, along with other recording devices, captured the

Patrick said. “The products simply work. And we would do this all again using that equipment.” HDwireless is the go-to specialist when it comes to wireless comms and camera solutions in Europe, and they heavily favor Clear-Com equipment. Other applications using Clear-Com include TV shows, corporate events, music productions and large sports events like Formula 1 and the 24-hour motorsports race at the Nürburgring, the biggest racetrack in Germany.

Sports LED at the FIFA World Cup

Recognised as the world’s single most viewed and followed sporting event, the FIFA World Cup tops the leader board as the world’s most prestigious sporting tournament. With LED displays playing a central role in the all-important fan experience, the eight stadiums: Al Bayt Stadium and Lusail Stadium (hosts of the opening and final match); Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Al Janoub and Al Thumama Stadium; as well as the Education City Stadium and Stadium 974, the fans attending, and the global live broadcast audience are experiencing the very latest innovations in LED displays for sport. Whilst a total of over 2,000sqm of Absen LED display screen elements can be spotted across the World Cup stadiums, LED displays regularly play a central role supporting nearly all major sporting events, such as football, cricket, rugby, basketball, volleyball, American football, baseball, ice hockey, and tennis. Supplying the match day experience in the form of information and content not just for the attending fans, but for the fans watching remotely, the fastpaced on-field action must be matched by high quality performant screens capable of rapid image switching, for quick-paced high-definition broadcast.

With major sporting events viewed by millions, the integrity of LED for sporting environments is paramount. The environment is demanding, and display performance must

be stable and consistent as well as fool proof with zero failures. Each display plays its part, whether at an outdoor stadium with an LED scoreboard, pitch side perimeter displays and mid tiered seating platforms, or for an indoor arena with a non-standard shaped LED displays. In addition to central multiple sided scoreboards, and courtside displays, each position plays a pivotal role in providing the highest quality imagery for branding messages for teams and sponsors alike.

Some of the key requirements for the world's most watched sporting events are unequivocal reliability and impressive image quality, and Absen continues to be recognised as the LED display supplier to provide this. In addition to the stadiums of the 2022 World Cup, Absen displays feature in the UEFA European championships, the NBA, and the Formula 1 World Championships. Absen’s solid pedigree is well earned from locations such as the Kaliningrad Stadium, Kazan Stadium and Rostov Stadium for the 2018 Russia World Cup; the 2012 Euro Cup with displays in Ukraine and Poland’s Krakow Stadium, the international ‘home of cricket’ Lords Cricket Ground in the UK, and Italy’s San Siro: home of AC and Inter Milan also benefit from Absen LED display.

Absen’s impeccable reputation in Sport LED products is secured by superior product offerings such as its A99 stadium

products not only because they work well, but because of the company’s excellent customer support. “When you’re planning challenging projects like this, when there are sudden changes or problems, or when you need additional equipment at very short notice, outstanding support is crucial – and Audio-Technica as the German distributor, as well as the colleagues at Clear-Com in Europe and the USA, provide us with this.”

When asked the ultimate question, “what sound does the earth make?”, Patrick laughed. “I don’t want to make it!”

Leyard Europe LED visual experience for Belgian fries

From earthy tubers to golden yellow fries, Agristo is a Belgian family business and a world player for the development and production of frozen potato products. Since 1986, the company’s name has been synonymous with authentic and delicious pre-fried fries, crispy croquettes, wedges, and other potato-derived products to suit customers’ preferences for quality, taste and convenience.

With more than 100 ‘potatoholics’ working at Agristo’s four high-tech production sites in Belgium and the Netherlands every day, the company needed a striking LED display solution for the new HQ building at its Wielsbeke production site, with Play AV supplying two complete setups of Leyard Europe MGP Complete Video Wall Display for the reception area and ‘the potato’ auditorium.

Agristo’s strong connection to the potato growers meant the company wanted to emphasize on its collaborative spirit and over two decades of experience in the business.

Play AV suggested Leyard’s fine pixel pitch

“At Agristo, guests and visitors should immediately feel a ‘wow’ factor,” explains Play AV’s Mathijs Moortgat. “The team wanted to ensure that a digital interaction would

occur even before arriving at the reception counter. This prompted us to look for a perfect LED solution that would demonstrate the company’s philosophy and start telling

its spellbinding story from the moment visitors enter the building.”

Play AV opted for two 108-inch Leyard Europe MGP Complete Video Wall Display setups, one installed in the reception area and the other in a unique, all-wooden auditorium called ‘De patat’ (English: the potato), giving visitors the impression of literally stepping inside the spud.

"When a customer or new colleague arrives, we want to immerse them in the wonderful world of potatoes,” says ICT Infrastructure Manager at Agristo, Thijs Naessens.

“During preliminary meetings to talk about ‘the potato’ auditorium, Play AV sat at the design table with our architect. This was to ensure that the audiovisual plans were integrated into the overall concept and company philosophy from the outset.”

“Thanks to the pre-configured setup of the Leyard Europe MGP Complete Video Wall Display, it was possible to significantly reduce the time, complexity and the cost of designing and installing both video walls, whilst still being able to deliver seamless

LED screens that offer resolutions such as full HD and 4K with any pixel pitch, as well as brighter images, without the bezels,” explains Moortgat.

With Naessens and the rest of the team pleased with the installation of both LED walls, Naessens points out that it was very important for them to find the right LED solution that would justify their investment.

"At Agristo, we wanted to invest wisely,” he concludes. “It had to be a sustainable solution that was worth its money. With the underlying idea of digital interaction, our creative team put a lot of effort into producing beautiful visuals once the Leyard LED video walls were installed. For example, in the reception area, we have a fun corporate video continuously playing on the screen. This gives a great first impression and tells our story beautifully. We have already received a lot of positive comments both from our staff and visitors!”

LG’s wireless solution leverages state-of-the-art technologies to provide reliable video and audio transmission to the M3’s self-lit OLED screen – allowing users to enjoy content at 4K 120Hz, and clear, crisp sound, without interruption or degradation of quality. To ensure the seamless transfer of data from the box to the TV, the company developed an algorithm that instantly identifies the optimal transmission path. The algorithm also helps to minimize transmission errors or disruptions as it can recognize changes in the immediate environment – such as people or pets moving around the room – and switch paths accordingly.

Additionally, for maximum signal strength, the box’s antenna can be easily rotated and/ or tilted to align with the TV’s location. And for maximum usability, Zero Connect box is voice recognition-enabled, meaning users can turn on and manage the M3 and connected devices using simple, spoken commands.

Despite the imposing size of its screen, the M3 blends in effortlessly with one’s interior décor courtesy of its understated One Wall Design2. The M3 and its integrated bracket sit flush against the wall with no visible gap, presenting a chic, art gallery aesthetic that augments the TV’s outstanding self-lit picture quality.

In addition to showcasing AnyShape, AV Stumpfl will also present their AT64 and T32 screen system legs. The screen products make it possible to assemble a mobile projection screen in a matter of minutes and to adjust its' height in just a few seconds.

AV professionals working with media servers will be delighted with the latest PIXERA developments presented at ISE for the first time. The new multi-user workflow features will allow media server operators to be much more flexible and efficient when working on complex installations or show environments.

Multiple PIXERA director licenses can now be synched, with users being able to choose between different levels of granularity when working within a multi-user scenario. Complete projects can be shared in real-time, or alternatively single project parts like warping or timelines. Should they wish to, users can also choose to share every single editing action among the connected systems.

PIXERA executive director Harry Gladow comments on the real-life impact the new multi-user workflow features will have: “The ability to flexibly share project tasks among multiple users simultaneously is a great advantage and saves valuable time. One operator can be in charge of programming the main timeline, another can handle the live inputs and yet another operator might take care of the general content handling. All working at the same time. For many projects this will be a quantum leap in terms of efficiency.”

Building on the technology developed for the new multi-user features, the PIXERA team will also introduce additional backup solutions at ISE. Visitors will also be able to discover the latest PIXERA control features, which include tracking modules and a ne preset module.

On the hardware side, AV Stumpfl will present its acclaimed PIXERA four media server at ISE. The powerful system is perfect for highly demanding real-time graphics applications and broadcast setups. 12G-SDI I/O support, a 10 GB/s default data read rate and five configurable PCI 4.0 slots are some of the key system features of AVStumpfl’s new highend server for 4K and 8K playback.

at a moment's notice," said Paul Vander Plaetse, CEO and Founder of VuWall. "We've addressed this need with our easy-to-install and scalable PAK processing appliances and our feature-rich TRx video wall management software platform. We will have a lot of exciting technology advancements attendees won't want to miss at our booth."

The ISE 2023 VuWall booth experience will include a demo of the new TRx KVM functionality. The new technology allows operators to collaborate directly on shared video walls while working from their personal desks. Organizations can bring in KVM sources, in addition to virtually all other sources, on a PAK video wall. This feature offers dynamic collaboration between operators to the video wall and operator to operator.

The company will show this new capability and the VuWall PAK appliance on the 3x2 Samsung LCD video wall and two operator desks. PAK is a networked multi-decode node that can also operate efficiently as a stand-alone device and is certified as fully compatible with The Wall. For large displays, PAK nodes can be easily stitched together to build an IP-based video wall that is infinitely scalable and can function as a single large canvas. PAK simplifies video wall integration by reducing the need for long video cables and eliminating single points of failure to minimize risk and improve reliability. VuWall will also highlight TRx's support for SDVoE multi-view mode, video wall mode, and USB routing on Samsung's The Wall for high-quality, zero-latency video distribution over 10G.

Digital Signage Summit

Co-produced by invidis and Integrated Systems Events, Digital Signage Summit ISE begins on the morning of Wednesday 1 February in CC5.1. Exploring the theme of the Power of Pixels, this always insightful C-Level conference will feature digital signage experts, thought leaders and leading technology and service suppliers as they take a deep dive into hot topics such as the role of digital signage in omnichannel retail, green signage and what’s next for the sector.

Conference Chair and Managing Director, invidis consulting, Florian Rotberg, said: “DSS ISE offers a great overview of the latest trends and inspires how to unleash the power of pixels for integrators as well as for end users. It’s a half-day well spent, with exclusive insights into how to bring the technology showcased at ISE to maximum use.”

Control Rooms Summit

Also taking place on the morning of 1 February, Control Rooms Summit, sponsored by Guntermann and Drunck in CC5.3, will delve into the huge topic of data. Case studies and presentations from expert speakers from across the academia, supplier and user communities will focus on how to make optimum use of growing data streams in order to make critical decisions in a timely manner.

Conference Chair Chris Dreyfus-Gibson said: “We’re coming to a point where the incremental increase around data that comes into control rooms means that we’re dealing with a mass of data in a way that we’ve not had to do before. The conversation I want to have at the summit is to say, ‘look, we know we have all this data, what are we doing about it? How are we transforming that data really quickly?’”

CRS will also seek to address key questions for the industry, such as how to make the best use of AI and machine learning to drive useful insight to support critical decision making; how to get the right information to the right people when they need it; how to visualise this vast amount of data in a way that doesn’t overwhelm control room staff; and what impact this changing relationship with data will have on the role, skills and training of control room operators.

Attendees of both the Control Rooms Summit and the Digital Signage Summit can also enjoy a combined networking lunch after sessions have finished.

Education Technology Summit

The afternoon of 1 February sees the Education Technology Summit take place in room CC5.3. This year’s theme is ‘Connected, Compassionate and Creative: Edtech for a Changing World’. The summit will encourage attendees to look both forward and inward, bringing state-of-the-art technologies and reflective discussions on the relationship between humans and digital technology.

One highlight is set to be Jo-An Kamp from Fontys University, who will deliver a keynote presentation provoking the audience to think about the assumptions and influences that feed into the design of the digital tools we use for learning and the uses we make of data to personalise experiences. These insights will give attendees a valuable compass to join a range of other colleagues in exploration of what the metaverse might mean for learning. Sustainability, mental health and wellbeing, the need for compassionate pedagogy and more will also be up for discussion.

“This year’s speakers will provoke you to think and to question assumptions. I hope they will also inspire you to see how a humane approach to technology helps us design more effective learning experiences that are better for our students and our planet,” said Conference Chair Gill Ferrell.

Smart Workplace Summit

On Thursday 2 February, Smart Workplace Summit, sponsored by Shure, in CC5.1, will explore New Priorities for the Workplace, sharing the newest technology and the latest thinking on strategies to move forward in smart workplaces. The summit will also bring together thought leaders and product innovators to move past the pandemic-related uncertainty to

now chart specific courses of direction for companies, their integrators and their vendors.

Speakers include Sonal Bisht, Head of Global Markets Strategy – Corporate Affairs, HP; Ken Dooley, Head of Smart Office, Haltian; John Marshall, President and CEO, Userful; and Lee Styles, Partner, Kromers. Attendees will also be able to hear in person from high-level executives from Google, Zoom, Microsoft and others.

“If the workplace and smart office is your bailiwick, then spending a few hours with us at ISE 2023 will help you with the focus you’ll need to succeed. We work really hard in this AV industry and sometimes we forget to take step back and look at the wider picture - to open ourselves up to new ideas and new thought leaders,” said Conference Chair Bob Snyder.

Live Events Summit

The Inner Workings of the Live Events Market is the theme of this year’s Live Events Summit, which takes place on the afternoon of 2 February in CC5.3. Featuring insights from individuals involved in some of 2022's biggest tours and live shows, as well an in-depth look at the latest technological innovations likely to feature on global stages in the coming years, the summit will also explore the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Sessions include a look behind the scenes at a major world tour, speaking to those involved discussing the challenge any production faces in 2023, and an exploration into how music venues will change in the coming years as well as the latest developments already impacting the live touring landscape.

“The summit will be a forum to explore some of the changes we are likely to see in the live market in the coming few years and what the tours of tomorrow may look like,” said Conference Chair Stew Hume. “It will look at some of the latest technological trends and hear from a number of thought leaders who are working at the coal face of the live events sector to make live events even more spectacular year after year.”

Content Production & Distribution Summit

Another new summit for 2023 is the Content Production & Distribution Summit taking place on Tuesday 31 January in CC5.3. Content production and distribution technologies are growing in relevance for the professional AV market with end-users and vendors increasingly seeking to create and disseminate high-quality video content for commercial and informational use. This summit will explore the strategies and technologies behind the creation, management and distribution of video content and explain how the power of a story can be unleashed to the world through the use of easy to access technology.

The summit will be chaired by Ciarán Doran, a consultant and senior executive with extensive experience of the worlds of broadcast, content production and AV technology.

“At ISE 2023 I’m delighted to be chairing the new the Content Production & Distribution Summit where we will discuss with senior industry executives the technical, creative and commercial challenges facing them as they create exciting new media channels for their markets and consumers,” said Doran.

Aside from the main conference programme, a new series of Tech Talks, curated and produced by AVIXA, will also run throughout all four days of the shows in room CC4.1. These free-to-attend sessions are designed to give visitors the opportunity to learn about technology innovations and business developments, with both English and Spanish language sessions on offer.

Tech Talks will be given by experts on the cutting edge, bringing new ideas, sharing best-practice case studies and offering a glimpse of the state of the art at ISE 2023.

“We are excited to bring out global, year round work exploring industry best practices and trends to the ISE programme for 2023,” said Pam Taggart, Vice President of Content Creation at AVIXA. “Taking on production of the Tech Talks in both English and Span-

ish-language, as well as conferences, together with CEDIA allows us to bring new voices, thought-leaders and content areas to the expanding and continually changing ISE audience.”

English-language sessions will cover topics including the Metaverse and how companies are factoring it into their business strategies; using video games to treat and rehabilitate patients; and the latest in innovative physical presence displays and immersive experiences.

A series of sessions will also dissect the challenges arising from the ever-changing business climate – sharing solutions that look at new revenue streams from how companies can manage, service and commercialise their connected devices to how AV is changing to meet the IT needs of today and support the needs of digitally transformed enterprises into the future.

CEDIA Smart Home Stage

The CEDIA Smart Home Technology Stage, located in the Residential & Smart Building Zone (Hall 2), will host free-to-attend events every day throughout the show. Whether you want to look ahead to the future of the smart home, explore how to collaborate more with other trades, or learn how to engage with your trade association and make the most of your membership, CEDIA has programming to make your ISE 2023 experience worthwhile. With dozens of free talks, the CEDIA Annual General Meeting, and ISE’s Stand Design Awards, the Smart Home Technology Stage (stand 2F350) will offer an abundance of valuable information, engaging discussions, and learning and networking opportunities.

SMART Technologies & ALP Schools Special Needs Initiative

ALP Schools are a chain of Independent Special Needs Schools. SMART Technologies worked with ALP on a consultative basis to understand their challenges and supply groundbreaking tech so drive results.

When planning their EdTech refresh, ALP had three main objectives:

• Support inclusivity and pupil wellbeing of children with special educational needs

• Drive active learning and support pupil wellbeing, by engaging challenging learners via interactive and advanced methods.

• Improving teaching and learning across all subjects.

For years the partnership had relied upon a mixture of ageing interactive whiteboards with limited features and functionality - standard whiteboards and projectors.

Over the last 30 years, SMART has helped thousands of schools improve the versatility, efficiency and engagement of lessons. Supporting students to learn around the globe.

A useful bellwether into just how SMART technologies is supporting education can be found in a piece of independent research, commissioned by SMART; the ‘Capabilities for Success: What’s Working in EdTech Today” whitepaper. Using SMART’s proprietary tool, the report was the biggest investigation into the correlation between EdTech functionality, practice and learning outcomes ever conducted. In the UK, the report found that the top performing organisations (in terms of learning outcomes) consistently utilised the following features:

• Interactive/projection display

• Video conferencing tools

• pre-created content

• Software with collaborative, assessment, and gamification features.

Unlike other basic panel manufacturers, all of these outcome drivers are staple features of SMART’s product portfolio. In short, the data shows that SMART is unequivocally contributing to better learning outcomes in schools.

• Ongoing professional support for end users

The free CPD offered to existing SMART customers has helped thousands of teachers make the best use of their SMART panels and software. ALP, a partnership of schools has recently made best use of SMART’s CPD training to further embed the technology into their estate. Managing Director, David Cowell said: “detailed training from the SMART customer team have combined to deliver exactly the initial impact we were looking for, the offer of ongoing training from SMART along with their weekly drop-in sessions will help us to all improve effective use and maximise the potential that is at our fingertips”.

• The sustainable choice

The BenQ Bus Education Roadshow took training, upskilling and new product innovation directly to the doors of education establishments in the UK at a time when exhibitions, training courses and conferences were declining.

Inhabiting a refurbished double-decker bus, this immersive, collaborative showroom visited 24 schools, academies, colleges and universities around the UK, covering a total of 4,567 miles in 2022.

Taking the roadshow directly to the doors of learning environments ensured that they could still evolve their post-pandemic teaching processes at this crucial time, whilst minimising time away from campus, eliminating travel expenses and reducing carbon emissions

• By bringing BenQ’s education technology solutions and the experienced BenQ team directly to end users free of charge, educators were able to embrace the new ways of communicating with their students and making lessons inclusive for both those working from home and those in the classroom.

• This innovative direct-to-consumer initiative allows BenQ to reach audiences they previously couldn’t such as SEN schools, where pupils' needs are paramount. The BenQ Roadshow offers a platform to introduce BenQ’s ClassroomCare suite of features to promote a healthier learning environment for vulnerable students.

• As well as appealing to the teaching staff, the BenQ Bus also had experiences and education sessions for the IT Managers. In particular, they were able to learn about BenQ’s DMS (Device Management Solution), for remote management and monitoring.

• Created in collaboration with product development specialists, technical experts and the marketing team, the bus was executed to create a space that integrated the right range of

• The dvLED video wall is the largest of its kind in North Africa and represents a milestone in the history of Moroccan, and even African architecture.

• The scope was to make a perfect cylinder in a structurally non-perfect cylinder, which brought many challenges. One being to design the mounting structure from architectural plans, because the auditorium had not yet been built.

• Peerless-AV’s expert SEAMLESS dvLED team designed a structure using machine mounting services, enabling the structure to have extremely high tolerances. The faces were machined to four decimal places, to create an angle of 178.2871 degrees on the plates surface.

• The curved LED video wall consists of 183 x 5 (915) Samsung IFH-E LED cabinets in 2.5 pixel pitch, or 87.84m x 2.70m, within a fully floating cylinder measuring 32 metres in diameter.

• The complexity of this install meant the teams had to be able to work around any complications. Peerless-AV provided an expert dvLED technician on site, which brought significant efficiencies and saved valuable time. Installation time was halved also thanks to the quality design of the mounting structure; the custom, precision components for tight tolerances and the micro adjustment functionality ensured a seamless flat plane was achieved.

LCI Production

This project is an example of retailtainment at its finest. LCI Productions delivered the first outdoor permanently installed 3D projection mapped show on a UK high street, acting as a beacon to draw shoppers back to in-person retail.

This multisensory guest experience in Boscombe is comparable to what you would expect to see at a theme park. It has been value engineered to meet the client’s budget but without compromise on quality.

The solution has been designed to be flexible and future-proofed, with content set to evolve to keep visitors regularly returning to see the next installment.

• LCI Productions delivered an 18 metre x 11 metre projection mapped show on the facade of the Sovereign Shopping Centre in Boscombe, East Bournemouth, for Bournemouth Coastal BID, in partnership with Bournemouth Towns Fund. The new show spectacular, designed to reinvigorate the high street, plays every day and is updated throughout the year to keep guests returning to see the next instalments.

• When sourcing the location to house the projector, LCI had to overcome the challenges of working around various street furniture such as lamp posts to find a location within the Sovereign Shopping Centre that gave a clear view of the wall that was desired for the projection. A Digital Projection M-Vision 23000-WU DPL projector was installed in an upstairs space opposite to ensure it doesn’t get knocked out of alignment and to keep it safe from changeable weather conditions.

Frameless is a new cultural, immersive art experience, housed in an incredible 30,000 square foot venue in the heart of London. Art seeps into every space, with visitors able to walk in the pictures, seeing every brush stroke and splash of colour as they journey through four distinctive galleries, each with a different type of immersive technology.

Using more than 50 state-of-the-art Panasonic projectors, delivering 479 million pixels with million lumens of light, Frameless elevates traditional art to a new level, accompanied by breath-taking music from 158 surround sound speakers. It’s an immersive experience that’s inspiring visitors of all ages.

• A G2 Show Control Computer and BrightSign XT1144 Media Player ensure the content runs smoothly every evening. The BrightSign player can be used to determine whether audio is running during the show, with eight outdoor Adastra BP6V-B speakers surrounding the projection mapped canvas to create a full multisensory experience for guests. These run off a 100v line and are supported by a DAP PA-500 amplifier for additional sound reinforcement. This combination was selected because they provide good sound quality and a lower level to support the three-four-minute show. A silent looping sequence has been factored in between the shows to keep any peripheral noise to a minimum for local shopkeepers.

Pro AV for Belden Inc

As a direct result of the pandemic and a need to reduce air travel Belden Inc., the global leader in transmission solutions is expanding their reach through the development of a series of physical customer innovation centres (CIC) to showcase their innovative solutions and illustrate how they securely transmit data, audio and video that is needed for today’s applications. Belden has partnered with proAV and 2Heads to build a series of Customer Innovation Centres worldwide, the first of which is in Stuttgart, Germany.

• proAV created for Belden an experiential space that could showcase their innovative solutions; encourage collaboration and discussion.

• The resulting space also offers the opportunity to host demonstrations and talks in studio-quality surroundings.

• The design has created a beautiful space that resonated with their brand style, a showpiece to highlight their new direction.

• The Customer Innovation Center (CIC) needed to be the backdrop for internationally streamed events; a showpiece that invited the whole world in to witness Belden’s technological advancements.

1. Working hand-in-hand with the Frameless management team, integration partner Creative Technology and Media Server provider Hive, Panasonic projectors deliver four different ground-breaking immersive experiences that stretch the capabilities of the projectors and their Ultra Short Throw lenses to the limits. The team worked around the clock to deliver the experiences, as the gallery was completed around them. With Panasonic even flying in specialist engineers to assist with the set-up.

2. Each of the four immersive galleries and the fifth, dedicated to corporate and educational events, have a completely different visual concept and projection layout. The Art of Abstraction uses projections on semi-transparent mesh screens standing like a labyrinth in the centre of a dark room to make visitors blend into the content of art from Kandinsky, Klimt, Mondrian, Malevich and Klee. Colour in Motion uses projection and colour to bring to life every brushstroke and splash of colour in masterpieces by Monet, Van Gogh, Signac, Delaunay and Morisot. As visitors walk through the paintings, the brushstrokes and colour are moved and washed up the walls creating an immersive and interactive space. The World Around Us was the most technically challenging installation to achieve and delivers an almost spherical six-sided projection of the landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes of Canaletto, Cezanne, Monet, Rembrandt and Ruysch. Lastly, a room wrapped in mirrors, including projectors wrapped in mirror foil, created the dreamlike and surreal gallery called Beyond Reality. Here visitors get glimpses of visual infinity as they experience the iconic artwork of Munch, Bosch, Dali, Klimt, Rousseau and Ernst.

• One of the key requirements for LCI was to ensure remote dial in capability for the team, so they didn’t need someone to physically be at the show location every evening. This is made possible through the G2 Show Control Computer, the BrightSign media player and by using the projector’s on-board scheduler to turn the projector on and off. Elements like volume can also be adjusted and the team can even remotely add new shows. Working from a localised server meant that the team didn’t have to travel to the location each time the system needed an update. This reduced the physical travel to site, reducing fuel consumption and energy.

• LCI has delivered this project as a full turnkey solution with its studio team also creating the show content, which launched with a ‘Love Boscombe’ theme for Valentine’s Day. The 3D content floated above the surface to include hearts moving across the screen, pulsating, spinning and circling around the building. Images that represent the Boscombe seafront and artwork from local residents has also been included. The experience has been futureproofed so that the content and show can regularly be updated. There are different shows planned throughout the year and it also has the capability of showing live sport, which can be projected onto the side of the building to bring all the action to life in a larger than life arena. This has created a multifunctional space that people can visit again and again to see the latest instalment and have a memorable experience.

2. FreeSpeak II Digital Wireless Intercom and HelixNet Digital Partyline Intercom overall streamlined the intercom system and eliminated the need for a mix of analog and digital

3. The Panasonic equipment used in the venue includes the Panasonic RQ22k and RQ35K 3-Chip DLP Series of projectors that use Panasonic’s original pixel-quadrupling technology to deliver stunning 4K+ visuals at 20000-30500 lumens. The projectors deliver uniformity in both brightness and colour performance, allowing images to be seamlessly blended, avoiding distractions or blemishes that could break the connection with the viewer. Frameless is also using Panasonic’s MZ16 projection series, which delivers long-lasting brightness and superb colour performance at 10,000lm (MZ10k), 13000lm (MZ13k), and 16000lm (MZ16k). This 3LCD technology provides vibrant HD quality images, and reliability is assured by the liquid cooled laser diodes and sealed phosphor wheel that protects against dust ingress to provide long life brightness. To create the incredible immersive effects, Panasonic Ultra Short Throw (UST) lenses are used with 80% of the projectors. These specialist lenses allow projectors to be hidden in the ceilings, so as not to distract from the immersive illusion, and to project at incredible angles to surround the visitor without casting shadows.

4. Frameless chose the Panasonic projectors after a competitive test with three other leading projector manufacturers. “Panasonic proved to be the clear leader in picture quality and reliability,” said Simon Kentish, Chief Technology Officer, at Frameless. In addition to the immersive experience, Simon said that another important factor was the ability for the projected images to be captured on video and in photos for social media. “The ability for visitors to share images and videos of the spectacular projected art on social media was an important marketing consideration,” explained Simon. “Many of the projectors produced images that did not capture well but, if possible, the Panasonic projector images looked even better on camera!”

5. The other major consideration was reliability. With a build time for the venue of just over a year, timings were tight. AV equipment would need to be installed and set-up while there was still a lot of building dust in the venue. On top of that, the venue needed projectors that would continue to deliver spectacular images day in and day out for the high profile London attraction. The filter-less design and dust-proof optical system, alongside the high

• BYOD ready:

Wireless sharing is similarly made easy. CTOUCH Neo features AirServer, allowing users to use their device’s native screen sharing solution. AirPlay, Google Cast or Miracast are all supported and don’t require the installation of an extra app.

• Secure by design: Since CTOUCH Neo is used in a public setting, security is of the utmost importance. This is covered in various ways:

- All sensitive settings are behind a PIN code, which has to be set during the first-time installation. This way, only qualified personnel can make changes that determine how CTOUCH Neo operates

- No data is stored on the touchscreen. After finishing a session, notes can be shared through a link and QR code and are then permanently deleted.

- CTOUCH Neo is bundled with a Cable Lock. This makes sure no cable will go missing, interrupting the next meeting or class - The browser can be disabled for more control over how the screen is used

• Energy saving:

CTOUCH Neo always comes in eco-mode by default, saving the user loads of energy! The screen has a built-in human presence detection module, which automatically turns the screen off when no one is around and turns the screen on when someone enters the room. This happens in low light mode, greatly reducing energy usage, while allowing the focus to remain on the teacher or meeting participants until the touchscreen is used. Furthermore, CTOUCH Neo comes with a Sustainability Passport which provides a comprehensive insight in the CO2 footprint of the product and materials used.

• CTOUCHABLE design:

To be a perfect fit for modern offices and campuses, CTOUCH Neo is made with the patented CTOUCHABLE™ design philosophy in mind. The screen features an attractive ‘Wisdom Blue’-coloured border. The anodized aluminium adds to this crisp, youthful & modern look. These combined makes sure that the screen immediately catches the eye of anyone entering the room

• Sustainability breakthroughs

Sustainability innovation of the Year CTOUCH

CTOUCH is the most sustainable touchscreen manufacturer in all of Europe. We’re devoted to reducing our CO2 footprint by 60% and increasing our product circularity by 25% before 2025. We strongly believe businesses need to be transparent about their environmental impact in order to achieve real progress.

We put our belief into action by introducing a myriad of sustainability initiatives. With these tools we're spreading awareness about our products’ CO2 impact. We're building trust and triggering dialogue on (re)using our touchscreens. Internally, these tools empower us to make sustainable choices concerning future products, benefiting both the environment and our customer.

CTOUCH is committed to making a positive impact on the future through transparency. We highlight five key initiatives where transparency is key and which aim to reduce CO2 impact and energy consumption, and increase circularity.

The LED Studio use proprietary technology within The EDGE Pro to reduce power consumption by up to 75%, increase brightness levels and lengthen the lifespan to over 100,000 hours, compared to LCDs' three-year lifecycle.

In addition, intelligent engineering uses the cabinet frame as a heatsink to remove the requirements for external fans or cooling systems. The EDGE Pro draws industry-low power consumption, averaging 180w/sqm and maximum power consumption of 500w/sqm, which couldn’t be more relevant in the present day, as we face increasingly soaring energy bills with immediate solutions required.

• Built to evolve

As the display industry inevitably evolves, so will The EDGE Pro. The 43” modules are easily upgradable to lower pixel pitches for higher resolutions and technical specifications, providing end-users with the option to upgrade the screen resolution or display durability without having to change the original underlying infrastructure. Upgrading the modules only requires 30% of the display to be replaced, making it one of the market's most future-proofed and cost-effective displays.

• Utilises existing infrastructures

CTOUCH Neo

CTOUCH Neo is the easiest-to-use touchscreen ever. Even the least tech-savvy person can simply walk up to the screen, choose one of the four options on offer and start collaborating right away. Users can whiteboard, share wirelessly from any device, use the optional browser or change the source with just one touch.

Combine this with a great writing experience, JBL optimised speakers, a Cable Lock to keep al cables where they belong, a Stage XXL platform for large video conference cameras, a built-in human presence detection and NFR Reader for energy saving and security, and you’ve got an absolute game-changer!

CTOUCH Neo is made for higher education and SME. Research among these groups shows that only 4 touchscreen functions are used during the average week, so why add more than needed? CTOUCH Neo runs only what users really need: whiteboarding, wireless screen sharing, a web browser and an option to change sources. That’s it!

• The essentials of whiteboarding:

CTOUCH Neo features a whiteboarding tool with only seven options, to get ideas flowing in an instant. The user simply walks up to the screen, picks a pen or marker and starts their meeting or class immediately.

Neo uses zero bonding technology to offer the most intuitive writing experience. By completely eliminating the air gap between the panel and the LCD, the user’s touch is registered

• Life Cycle Assessment: We perform Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to identify the environmental impact and ethical risks of our supply chain and our products throughout their entire life cycle. This analysis offers concrete recommendations that will have a major impact in terms of CO2 reduction, increase of the circularity of materials, supply chain transparency and social responsibility.

• Sustainability Passport:

The results of the LCA are included in the Sustainability Passport. CTOUCH is the first (and currently the only) touchscreen manufacturer with a Sustainability Passport for its products. Through this Passport we provide transparency and awareness of the used resources in our touchscreens.

• Interactive Sustainability Dashboard: The details of the Sustainability Passports come to life in our Interactive Sustainability Dashboard. This dashboard provides insight into the environmental impact of our touchscreens, from CO2 footprints to the materials used.

• Energy saving calculator - Save Watts & Watts of Money: To show how sustainable CTOUCH touchscreens are and how much money people can save on their electricity bill when choosing CTOUCH instead of another brand, we introduced the Energy Saving Calculator. People simply select a CTOUCH touchscreen and a competitor brand and they immediately see how much electricity and money they can save annually when choosing CTOUCH. Their benefit? Several hundreds of pounds per year!

• Yearly Sustainability Progress Report: In this one-page yearly report, we provide an update on our progress to date and outline the

The EDGE Pro is the only LED display on the market designed to replicate the size and format of 43” LCDs, positioning it as the superior direct replacement for outdated technology. It’s also compatible with VESA mounts to utilise existing infrastructures and features an in-built bracketry system to avoid additional framing materials.

• Proprietary design

The display uses V1 Architecture, a unique method enabling the screen to be built in one of three industry-leading technologies, SMD, Flip-Chip SMD or Flipchip SMD with high brightness. This proprietary design is the first time a single display can accommodate different manufacturing processes, allowing clients to obtain precise specifications for their requirements and budget for future upgrades.

• Long-term benefits

End-users can now invest in a high-performance and future-proofed visual display technology that will result in a better cost of ownership and meet sustainability requirements. This innovation will push the boundaries of visual display installations, opening up opportunities for a broader range of applications wanting more impactful visual solutions that provide long-term benefits.

Samsung

Samsung’s Environmental Strategy, announced in September 2022, puts environmental sustainability at the center of its operations. The company’s goal is to overcome the climate crisis by achieving net zero emissions by 2050 through innovative technologies and sustainable product development. As part of its strategy, Samsung is increasing the use of recycled plastics as product components to reduce carbon emissions and improving resource circularity. Samsung Electronics believes in developing technologies that minimize the impact on our planet while providing value that enriches customers’ lives.

Panasonic PressIT360 Panasonic Connect Europe
4 P25 AV News January 2023

• Samsung is addressing every aspect of its products’ lifecycles to achieve greater sustainability and an improved carbon footprint through its Environmental Strategy. This includes its processes for sourcing and production, distribution, usage, and recycling of products.

• As part of its new Environmental Strategy, Samsung Visual Display Business is continuing to improve the sustainability in its sourcing and production efforts, mainly by using discarded carbon for its product parts. By using CO2 upcycled resin, Samsung will be able to achieve a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to that of using conventional recycled resin, which is equivalent to reducing 1,455 tons of carbon annually. Recycled graphite will also be used for heatsink TVs with an eco-conscious process. The company will also prioritize material minimization by creating process efficiencies to significantly reduce the resin and steel used for manufacturing. Additionally, the enhanced, sustainably designed diffusion plate will help reduce the amount of plastics by 10% compared to traditional diffusion plates. This is equivalent to a reduction of 475.8 tons of plastic annually.

• The second element of the strategy focuses on sustainable distribution. Samsung is making carbon reduction efforts throughout the distribution process, from choosing packaging materials to packing products. The company is focusing on ink print minimization and on replacing stales and plastic tape with paper tape. The use of paper tape will lead to an 80% decrease in assembly time and thus a significant reduction in operating hours for packaging products, which requires energy usage. Paper tape also makes recycling easier because of glue residue. Samsung is also making its distribution more sustainable through recycled plastic stripping and clips to achieve even greater carbon reductions and the use of recycled EPS (expanded polystyrene) to cut 3,880 tons of CO2 annually.

• Samsung’s Environmental Strategy also takes sustainability into consideration during the time customers are using the products. Samsung is focusing on smart product design to conserve energy and minimize power consumption even while customers are watching the screen. This includes a SolarCell Remote that reduces approximately 14K tons of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Samsung is implementing innovative energy saving technology to conserve power even while devices are on standby as well as power control features to minimize standby power. Furthermore, remote management is available across Samsung signage solutions to ensure efficient management to control the devices from anywhere to conserve power. Samsung is also focusing on eco-repair to reuse components, recycle resources, and ultimately cut 20,000 tons of GHG emissions.

• Samsung continues to improve its recycling practices and is making strides with its new Environmental Strategy by giving discarded packaging new value and reducing waste. Its new eco package gives the product packaging value and encourages consumers to upcycle. Samsung is instating an Annual Eco Package Competition, which encourages TV users to harness their creativity to repurpose the cardboard packaging to make new items. The #FurTheWin eco package campaign was designed to inspire consumers to reuse the boxes and help reduce carbon emissions and waste. Building on these efforts, Samsung is also using recycled raw materials for its power boards and upcycling discarded fishnets for resource recirculation.

Saturn Visual Solutions

During the pandemic Saturn repositioned itself to better represent its technical problem-solving, design and engineering capabilities.

In the last 12 months it has subsequently grown turnover/profits 20% higher than past pre-pandemic levels and increased staff numbers by 42% (19 to 27).

Its consultancy turnover grew by 900% largely due to a landmark project for Seiko, the first of its kind to be delivered outside Japan. Its enclosure design/build service revenue grew by 1100%.

Reinvention – 25 years after the company was founded, Saturn has reinvented itself, changing from simply providing a standard integration service to a more comprehensive offering with a greater focus on its areas of excellence – problem-solving, design and engineering. This more consultative change of direction has proven to be incredibly lucrative, with Saturn developing a reputation for its ability to take on the toughest of projects and deliver them with ease. For example, designing a bespoke framework for ODEON so that a 3.84m x 1.92m LED wall could be installed on the façade of a building with large protruding architectural fins in London’s West End.

Enclosure design/build service – Saturn’s improved enclosure design/build offering has resulted in Samsung becoming a re-seller of Saturn’s low carbon-footprint screen enclosures. The company has created a new bus shelter screen enclosure design which has a revised internal layout and cooling system, enabling them to be thinner and more aesthetically pleasing (in line with the client’s requirements) without losing robustness. Saturn has designed a new flexible modular solution for timekeeping at sporting events, making the equipment multi-purpose and significantly more economical to transport to events, whilst still delivering the necessary robustness. A new slim free-standing self-service payment kiosk has also been added to its suite of designs.

Support helpdesk – Saturn has implemented a new ticket management system for its digital signage technical helpdesk which has improved its SLA delivery. As a result of this improved efficiency, it now offers helpdesk support for four different cloud-based digital signage content management systems - including Samsung’s MagicInfo - significantly broadening its scope to offer technical support to more clients in the UK and overseas.

Sustainability - With climate change becoming ever-more apparent and energy costs spiralling, Saturn proactively approached its clients to ask if they would like their screens’ auto-shutdown timings to be reduced to minimise energy consumption. As a result, Saturn has saved its clients a total of more than 200,000 hours of energy usage. To combat the issue of electrical waste in situations where mid-life hardware is to be disposed of, Saturn has started to refurbish clients’ old stock, where appropriate, enabling it to be resold (with the purchasing client’s permission) to small businesses with limited budgets, rather than immediately being sent for electrical waste recycling.

Corporate Social Responsibility -Although a relatively small company, during 2022 Saturn has donated approximately 100 hours of staff time to Better Things, one of the UK’s smallest charities (which helps people with learning disabilities), volunteering to assist with sporting/ leisure activities and helping the company to create a much-needed brand and website. Saturn also committed to help Medicinema (a charity which runs cinemas in hospitals to give long term sick children and adults a respite from the clinical environment) fit digital signage to its Newcastle site to upgrade users’ experience.

The company has also undertaken a restructuring that resulted in a 300% employee growth rate in just 12 months.

2. Recruitment and Retention

Project Audio Visual has a proactive approach to hiring, appointing an even split of people from inside and outside the AV industry. This has resulted in a positive outcome across the company, providing a fresh approach to outdated processes and encouraging team participation to cross-share advice and knowledge.

There is a 40/50 ratio of female to male employees, an impressive figure for a male-dominated industry where women only make up one per cent. Furthermore, the engineering, warehouse, finance and sales teams are all led by female employees.

Internally, Project Audio Visual is excellent at recognising its existing talent. Since January 2022 alone, seven employees have received promotions.

3. Client Relationships
