Pro AV industry to reach $402 Billion by 2030
AVIXA: Pro AV industry to reach $402 Billion by
AVIXA’s Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis (IOTA) predicts pro AV revenue will grow from $332 billion in 2025 to $402 billion by 2030. Previously, the IOTA predicted market growth to reach $325 billion in 2024, but growth was slower than previously predicted, reaching $321 billion instead. However, the pro AV industry remains resilient, with a forecasted increase of $70 billion over the next five years.
The IOTA report is a comprehensive analysis of the pro AV market, using data from the previous five years and input from various market stakeholders. By providing a snapshot of end-user spending, the report presents data on the size of the pro AV industry with a global perspective, segmented by geography, vertical markets, solution areas, and product categories. Based on discussions with industry experts along with observations of macroeconomic pressures, the previous 5-year projection of a 5.3% growth was revised to 3.9%. Even with this notable decrease in the growth rate due to the dampening effect of uncertainty in tariffs, geopolitics, and high interest rates, pro AV is expected to outpace the global GDP growth by 0.8 percentage points.
“The data highlights that the pro AV industry remains well positioned for long-term success even as we navigate a more cautious growth environment. Strategic investment in emerging technologies, regional diversification, and cross-industry collaborations will be key to unlocking more opportunities in the future,” said Sean Wargo, Vice President of Market Insight, AVIXA. “While the sector continues to outperform global GDP, the pace of expansion has slowed, reflecting a shift from post-pan-

demic recovery to more stabilized, experience-driven markets – such as live events, retail, venues, and hospitality.”
Two forces continue to shape and drive demand in the pro AV industry: the hybrid workplace and the experience economy. By investing in AV tech to enhance engagement and collaboration in and out of the office, businesses are fostering a symbiotic relationship between workplace transformation and entertainment-driven experiences.
Globally, India has emerged as the standout performer in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, which remains the engine of pro AV growth. Previously a position led by China over last few years, India’s rise to the lead performer was formed from an increase in infrastructure investment and a growing need for immersive technology-enabled experiences. Other regions experiencing high growth are the Middle East and Latin America. The pro AV industry also continues to evolve through innovations in how audio and visual experiences are delivered. Key innovations are four technologies: AV over IP, software and cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and extended reality (XR). Now a mainstream aspect of AV installations, AV over IP enables content distribution and system control via IP networks. Market drivers are operation efficiency, cost reduction, and immersive experiences.
Software and cloud are increasingly central to AV operations, enabling remote management and scalability. AI is enhancing system intelligence, aiding in design, programming, and labour augmentation, while XR is gain-

ing traction in entertainment, retail and education. For products, content management hardware and services dominate. Standalone software, especially AI-powered tools, is the fastest-growing category. This trend highlights a broader shift toward value-added services and intelligent infrastructure. The corporate sector continues to be the largest buyer segment, although its growth is slowing while government, military and energy, and utilities are all accelerating. This reflects recession-resilient investment patterns.
From an AV solutions perspective, conferencing and
collaboration tech still leads, but security/surveillance, and broadcast AV are rapidly climbing the ranks. Broadcast AV has now become the second largest solution area behind conferencing and collaboration technologies. This rise shows the growing interest among enterprises in developing video content creation capabilities. It also offers another facet of the experience economy in which audiences are engaged on both digital platforms and in-person, which leads to companies viewing corporate events as capturable and shareable content.

Regional independent hotels revenues outpace general hotel market
The latest analysis by Rangewell, a specialist hospitality financing intermediary with expertise in regional hotel sector funding, has revealed that while the UK hotel sector faces another revenue dip in 2025, regional independent operators with deep local market knowledge are bucking the trend and significantly outperforming the broader market statistics. Despite the overall UK hotel sector showing signs of strain, with total market revenue dipping -2.4% in 2024 and further contraction expected in 2025, hotel lending data compiled by Rangewell shows that a new breed of agile independent
hoteliers is thriving through superior local intelligence and nimble operational strategies.
According to Rangewell’s hotel financing specialists, independent hotels with strong local market knowledge are delivering higher RevPAR and profit margins than their chain competitors. These locally rooted operators are leveraging guerrilla techniques in revenue management, distribution and marketing strategies to drive exceptional financial results that defy the sector’s broader struggles. Unlike major chains constrained by standardised approaches, independent operators are capitalising on the growing consumer demand for unique and personalised experiences. They’re implementing dynamic pricing strategies, forging authentic community partnerships, and offering immersive cultural experiences that larger brands simply cannot replicate at scale.
Rangewell’s analysis of UK hotel market trends reveals that the broader market remains below its 2019/20 peak despite clear revival in occupancy levels and domestic tourism. Following the pandemic’s devastating -52% market contraction in 2021, the sector experienced strong recovery with growth of +45.1% in 2022 and +37.1% in 2023, before the current downturn began. While inflationary pressures, rising operational costs, and tighter margins continue to weigh heavily on chain operators, hotel finance experts at Rangewell note that independent hotels are proving more resilient. Their intimate business knowledge and superior awareness of local market dynamics allows them to absorb low booking periods with greater ease, without the pressure and targets that typically burden chain properties.
Rangewell, which specialises in hospitality sector lending solutions, believes that the right financial support could help hotel operators and investors not only weather the current downturn, but reposition themselves for future growth. The specialist business finance intermediary is currently supporting hoteliers with tailored funding solutions ranging from commercial mortgages and development finance to short-term bridging and cashflow lending. In recent months, hospitality lending specialists at Rangewell have seen a significant uptick in applications for refurbishment and repositioning finance, as hotel owners seek to upgrade outdated stock and appeal to evolving traveller expectations around wellness, sustainability and flexible working spaces. Independent and boutique operators are particularly turning to alternative finance solutions to manage tax liabilities and smooth seasonal cashflow, while experienced investors continue seeking opportunities to capitalise on lower valuations and favourable lending terms. Alasdair McPherson, Commercial Property Expert at Rangewell, commented: “While headline revenue performance may have stalled, the real story is how smart independent operators are thriving through superior local market knowledge and operational agility. These hoteliers understand their communities intimately and can pivot quickly to meet changing guest expectations. We’re seeing more lenders return to the market with competitive products aimed at hospitality, particularly
when borrowers can demonstrate a strong management plan, realistic forecasts and a clear strategy for longterm improvement. Independent operators often present exactly these qualities. Whether it’s refinancing to release equity, funding a refurbishment, or acquiring a site with turnaround potential, specialist finance remains a vital tool in unlocking opportunities during a period of uncertainty, especially for those with the local expertise to make it count.”

The top 10 video conferencing mistakes (and how to avoid them!)
Jumping on a video call has now become a regular experience for millions of people but successful and rewarding remote meetings don’t just happen by chance. Manufacturer Boom Collaboration has been engaging with resellers and their customers around the world, to pinpoint some of the many secrets of success and the top pitfalls to avoid.
1 - Overcomplicating the set-up Complicated systems discourage use, increase support resource, and create failure points. Keep it plug-and-play where possible –ideally with a one-cable Bring Your Own Meeting (BYOM) set-up.
2 - Not matching equipment to room size Using a huddle room camera or even a videobar in a big boardroom leads to poor framing and audio issues. Choose equipment (camera field of view, mic pick-up, speaker range) that fits the room.
3 - Running too many devices through USB without a hub Laptops have limited USB bandwidth. Multiple AV devices can cause dropouts or incompatibility. Use a dedicated conferencing hub to manage multiple connections reliably.
4 - Using passive cables for long USB runs USB signals degrade over distance. Passive cables over 5m often cause intermittent or total failure. Use active USB extenders or solutions like USB over IP.
5 - Forgetting about cable management Dangling cables create a mess, trip hazards, and poor reliability. Plan cable routing in advance and use hubs or wall plates for tidy, permanent installs.
6 - Using built-in laptop mics and cameras Built-in components often deliver poor audio and video quality, especially in group settings. Use an external camera and speakerphone or video bar designed for conferencing.
Boom Co-Founder Fredrik : “At Boom, we’ve seen it all. From the tiny nobody dares touch. So, we’ve developed a list of the Top 10 mistakes
7 - Ignoring room acoustics and lighting Even the best hardware struggles in echo affected rooms or poorly lit spaces. Use soft furnishings to reduce issues and ensure faces are well-lit (ideally with natural or front-facing light).
8 - Using consumer gear for professional meetings Devices made for gaming or casual chats often lack features like beamforming mics, noise cancellation, or PTZ controls. Invest in purpose-built conferencing gear suitable for the room size.
9 - Not updating firmware Outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues, bugs, or performance degradation. Regularly check for and apply firmware updates for all conferencing gear.
10 - Skipping device testing before meetings Nothing kills a meeting faster than troubleshooting a camera or mic last minute. Test audio/video devices before important calls and schedule regular system checks.
tiny camera in a massive boardroom to the spaghetti mess of cables mistakes we see again and again – and how to fix them.”
Zoom, or a Bring Your Own Meeting setup where users utilize their own laptop or tablet etc. The Boom ZYGO one-cable connection hub and new Boom ARC, that enables switching between both formats, will lead the way. Any device on any platform in any room is our mantra.”
Fellow Founder Holli Hulett highlighted: “It’s about doing your homework first. What room size, how many people will be present and what are they using the room for? No one wants products just gathering dust because they are too complex to use or not the right specification. For us the best advice is demo, demo, demo! Product demonstrations are the best way to capture new sales and show customers just how good today’s video conferencing systems can be. Set up online meetings and show different cameras, with support from a manufacturer such as Boom. Seeing is believing!”
Texas-based Boom offers the complete array of conferencing solutions, from dedicated kits to videobars, multi-camera controllers, in-room systems and cutting-edge connectivity. It can be sourced from UK distributor Aldous Systems.
Boom Co-Founder Fredrik Hörnkvist says the world of conferencing continues to evolve but many fundamentals remain the same. “At Boom, we’ve seen it all. From the tiny camera in a massive boardroom to the spaghetti mess of cables nobody dares touch. So we’ve developed a list of the Top 10 mistakes we see again and again – and how to fix them.”
He continued: “I think there are many different components that need to be brought together to create the ultimate collaboration experience – from furniture and room ambiance to technology itself and the impact of AI. Keep things simple, reliable and engaging - as using high quality equipment will always produce the optimum results,” he explained. “There remain two distinct choices: a dedicated in-room system such as Teams or
Digital signage: sustainable enough?
In the early days of large format displays, the environmental argument was straightforward. It was widely accepted that digital displays reduce paper use, save money on printing, consumables and foster collaboration. A slam dunk? Possibly, but right now the issue is far more nuanced, with the production and use life cycle - starting with display design and manufacturing, and extending to operating costs, recycling and disposal. Has the large format sector done enough to support sustainability? And how will it continue to evolve going forward?
Notwithstanding progress in the development of LED technology, Nick Belcore, Executive VP, Peerless-AV believes that the pro AV industry still has a tremendous opportunity to follow several initiatives used by other industries to improve its ecosystem and contribute to global sustainability. One such initiative is the concept of a ‘circular economy,’ which emphasises the development of refurbishment programs. These programs help extend the life of products and systems originally sold as new but which may require updates or improvements to be resold in the used market. By reducing the need for new manufacturing cycles, this initiative helps decrease the waste incurred by the production process, ultimately conserving valuable resources and reducing the environmental footprint. Selling products through sustainable supply chains is equally critical to fostering a healthier ecosystem. This involves ensuring compliance with ESG standards, which guarantee that products are produced, transported, and disposed of, in a way that minimises harm to the planet and its inhabitants. “As an example, Peerless-AV’s sustainability efforts, including our Mount Recycling Program for the hospitality industry, which helps divert old mounts from landfills through reuse and recycling, play a key role in this initiative. Our goal is to re-
duce waste and carbon emissions by giving products a second life, demonstrating that sustainability is not just a concept, but a tangible practice”, says Belcore.
Sustainable packaging is another significant step forward. By using recyclable, reusable, or compostable materials, we reduce waste and ensure that products are packaged to minimise harm to the environment.
“At Peerless-AV, we are constantly improving our packaging solutions to ensure that they can be reused or repurposed to reduce environmental impact. We also emphasise the importance of working with partners who share our commitment to sustainability, ensuring that all stakeholders in the supply chain adhere to these high environmental standards”.
Eco VadisAchievements in sustainability are marked by the award of the globally recognised Eco Vadis programme. Stefan van Sabben added, “We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum rating, and the work continues. With a 40-year history in the global display industry and as a leading display solution provider, we feel it is our duty to continually set new standards. The recognition from EcoVadis validates those efforts and will help buyers make more informed decisions when choosing their solutions and achieving their sustainability goals and ambitions.”
I3 Connect/ions
Prior to its merger with i3-Technologies, CTOUCH had already built a formable reputation for its work on sustainability. The company shares the circularity approach adopted by TPV: “Global warming is a fact and there’s no time to waste. So, we are on a mission to be the most sustainable touchscreen manufacturer in Europe. We go the extra eco mile by lowering our CO2 footprint by 60% and increasing our circularity by 25% in 2025. CTOUCH passionately takes the lead in reducing the industry’s ecological footprint. We believe sustainability is much more than recycling. Therefore, our sustainability mission covers each life-cycle phase of our products and company: from raw material acquisition to factory processes, and from the use-phase to the end-of-life phase. This way, we take responsibility for all of our environmental and sustainability impacts.”
Like TRV, I3 Connect has received numerous national and international ratings, including ISO 14001 helps to achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals. plays have been joined by colour models which make them suitable for a wide range of applications, and even video-capable e-paper displays are on the way.
Samsung’s Colour E-Paper delivers new levels of energy efficiency: “For commercial displays, it is crucial to address the market’s demand for energy efficiency and simple device management, while at the same time meeting the public’s desire for immersive experiences,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.
Samsung Colour E-Paper (EMDX model) redefines energy-efficient digital signage by combining digital ink with innovative full-colour e-paper technology. This ultra-low power, lightweight and slim display serves as an eco-conscious alternative to traditional analogue and paper-based promotional materials while delivering the high visibility and functionality that businesses demand. Leveraging advanced digital ink technology, the EMDX operates at 0.00W power when displaying static images, while consuming significantly less energy during image transitions compared to traditional digital sig-
nage, resulting in substantial cost savings. The ultra-slim and lightweight design ensures effortless installation, while the range of sizes — 13 (1,600 x 1,200); 25(3,200 x 1,800); 32QHD (2,560 x 1,440); and an outdoor version that is 75 5K (5,120 x 2,880) — are optimised to cater to diverse business needs.

For seamless device management, a dedicated mobile app allows users to remotely operate displays, schedule wake-up and sleep times, and even set playlists with predefined intervals. Samsung VXT (Visual eXperience Transformation) further simplifies content operation with a feature exclusive to the Samsung Colour E-Paper. A specialised algorithm optimises content visibility for the display and includes a preview function to ensure content and colour are accurate before deployment. Content management is made simple through the mobile app and Samsung VXT, with businesses also able to use their own solutions through Tizen Enterprise APIs, which enable easy integration with existing management systems.
Zero Watts to hero?
As another major display manufacturer it came as no real surprise to see Sharp NEC enter the signage fray with the announcement of its colour e-posters that can maintain displayed images with zero Watts of power consumption. These new colour models of its ePoster electronic paper displays were introduced with Sharp branding. Two sizes were released: the 25.3-inch EPC251 and 13.3-inch EP-C131 models. These units feature the electronic paper technology of E Ink Holdings Inc, the world’s commercial leader in the electronic paper field, now offering support for colour displays.
In addition to high visibility, the powerful graphic capabilities provided by ePoster’s rich colour have been added to the display, greatly expanding the range of potential usage scenarios. Power is required only to rewrite the display, and once rendered, the displayed image can be maintained even if the power is turned off. In
addition, these units are thin and lightweight, enabling easy mounting simply by hanging with a wire. They can be used in places where it has been previously difficult to install digital signage due to issues such as connection to a power source and load capacity. They can also serve as replacements for printed paper posters. They will prove useful for a wide variety of applications, including as location directories and informational signage as well as advertising displays in commercial spaces and retail stores, and to display menus in restaurants.
The content displayed can be easily updated using a USB flash drive and can also be rewritten via a smartphone app. Plus, when combined with e-Signage S, Sharp’s proprietary software system for content distribution and management (sold separately), the display can be updated over a network, making managing and operating the display smooth and easy, including updating content on multiple display units at one time, specifying the updating date and time, and more. Sharp will continue to innovate information dissemination in the carbon-neutral era via ePoster, which achieves display image retention while consuming zero watts of power. However, there are some limitations - only still images can be displayed. Video playback is not supported. Bringing all the advantages of digital signage to static poster installations, Sharp NEC Display Solutions Europe is broadening its range of ePaper products. Sharp NEC is using its energy-efficient ePaper technology to develop larger sizes and outdoor-compatible solutions, which deliver outstanding visual quality with a paper-like surface, without consuming energy during content playback.
In very bright environments, the Sharp ePaper display impresses with remarkably brilliant images in full colour, enhanced by ACeP performance. Comparable to paper, there is no blue light nor reflection, creating a comfortable viewing experience. With no backlight, the ePaper display has no power demands when displaying content and only requires minimal power when content changes. The many possible applications include information boards, point of sale promotions, wayfinding and menu boards – wherever static content changes
frequently. Featuring an integrated System on Chip (SoC), the configuration of the device settings and the display of new content is easy and flexible through selected CMS partners or via USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, using an intuitive online tool or an app for mobile devices.
“The Sharp ePaper display is generating a lot of interest and receiving industry recognition for its significant potential for the carbon-neutral future of digital signage,” explains Martin Lienau, Product Manager at Sharp NEC Display Solutions Europe. “We are excited to explore the wide application opportunities for this new technology which prioritises sustainability by using recycled components and conserving resources, but also delivers the quality, reliability and durability that our customers expect. We anticipate and welcome many interesting conversations at ISE around our Sharp ePaper exhibit!”
At ISE 2025 in Barcelona, the A0-size Sharp ePaper display was integrated into a totem featuring solar power, battery storage and wireless communication functions. This solution eliminates the need for cabling and is suitable for outdoor signage use. This innovative solution for DOOH (Digital Out-of-Home) applications was awarded the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, in recognition of its outstanding energy saving
usage. Flip-Chip and ColdLED technologies both reduce power consumption and limit heat generation, while maintaining the brightness and colour fidelity often demanded for commercial applications. In addition, these technologies also extend display lifespans, with the consequential sustainability advantages. As previously discussed, sustainability starts with the design and manufacturing of displays and here we are seeing more attention to sustainability from the outset. For example, Sony’s BRAVIA Professional series now incorporates recycled materials in their production, and their design incorporates ambient light sensors to optimise energy use. Further benefits can be had from the use of cloud-based software platforms, which enable remote scheduling, control, and updates across multiple locations, ensuring consistent branding and efficient operations without additional environmental impact of manufacturing, shipping and disposal of extra hardware.
performance and suitability for displaying emergency information without reliance on a power supply.
LED sustainability
While e-paper / e-poster displays obviously offer substantial sustainability benefits, video capabilities are at a very early stage of development. Samsung showed a small-scale (10.2 inches) video capable e- paper display ay ISE 2025). Fortunately, LED display technology has undergone something of a transformation of late, blending cutting-edge hardware with intelligent software to create more immersive, energy-efficient, interactive and sustainable experiences. C; transparent LED Screens are popular in retail, as they allow digital content to overlay physical environments, enhancing instore experiences while enabling sound to pass through for stage and even applications; Flexible and stretchable LED displays unlock creative formats like curved, cubic, and wraparound displays; and, finally, LED overlays which can be used to add depth and 3D-like effects to signage, creating dynamic storytelling environments. Like e-paper and e-posters, the principal sustainability benefits of many innovations are reductions in energy
Conclusion
The last few years have seen a sea-change in the environmental awareness of businesses and publicly funded organisations. The transition to digital in, for example, education has seen digital displays in classrooms drastically cut down on paper waste. Primary school students, alone, generate 45kg of paper waste annually. Digital displays enable paperless, collaborative learning and working environments. Now the debate has moved on. There is a growing understanding that digital displays are not a universal panacea. Displays often run continuously at high brightness, especially in public or education settings, leading to increased electricity use and carbon emissions. Lack of scheduling or automated controls exacerbates wasteful energy use.
So, it’s so much more of an issue of digital versus analogue – it is more a case of which digital solution is both effective and sustainable? Continuous operation increases electricity bills, especially in large networks like schools or airports. Energy-efficient hardware (e.g., LED panels, SoC displays) and centralised control systems are known to reduce costs. The end-user’s consideration of environmental impact starts way before installa-
tion and operation. Displays contain metals, plastics, and electronics that are resource-intensive to produce. Without proper recycling programs, they contribute to landfill waste. Modular designs and take-back programs can help reduce this impact. Smart LED displays are said to consume up to 80% less power than traditional designs. Smart LED designs include sensors for ambient light adjustment and sleep modes. Ultimately, sustainability depends on ethical sourcing, responsible manufacturing, energy efficiency and recyclability. As an industry we have already made significant progress: LED displays are more energy-efficient and safer than neon or incandescent alternatives, consuming up to 80% less energy and lasting over 100,000 hours. Moving on, MicroLED displays offer ultra-low pixel pitch and superior resolution. They are also highly energy-efficient and long-lasting, ideal for large-scale signage, plus lower operational costs and reduced carbon footprint. While there is undoubtedly further to go in the drive to net zero, progress has been both significant and continuous. Like e-paper and e-posters, the principal sustainability benefits of many innovations are reductions in energy usage. Flip-Chip and ColdLED tech-
nologies both reduce power consumption and limit heat generation, while maintaining the brightness and colour fidelity often demanded for commercial applications. Ultimately, sustainability currently depends on ethical sourcing, responsible manufacturing, energy efficiency and recyclability.

JFM streams over 4,000 local sports matches a year
Denmark’s second-largest media group, Jysk Fynske Medier (JFM), has teamed up with Wowza’s Flowplayer to deliver over 4,000 live-streamed local sports matches annually. Leveraging Flowplayer’s fixed live source technology, JFM is not only redefining how regional sports are broadcast but also unlocking significant digital subscriber growth in the process. Faced with the challenge of monetising local news in a digital-first era, JFM set out to attract and retain subscribers, particularly younger audiences, by offering live coverage of regional sports such as football, ice hockey, handball, and basketball.
Inspired by Norway’s Amedia, the company envisioned live sports as a pillar of local engagement and digital innovation.
To bring this ambitious vision to life, JFM partnered with Sportway and Flowplayer, deploying AI-powered cameras across hundreds of venues. The setup captures and streams games automatically, eliminating the need for large production crews and enabling cost-effective scalability. A key enabler of this success has been Flowplayer’s “fixed live source” technology. Unlike traditional platforms that require a new stream key and configuration for every event, JFM’s infrastructure uses persistent stream keys per venue, simplifying orchestration and reducing the risk of human error. “With other players, every match generates a new stream key, and you have to send it to whoever is handling the stream that day,” said Silas Bang, Development Editor at JFM. “That’s fine if you’re doing five events a month. But we’re doing 4,000 a year across dozens of teams and venues. There’s no way we could keep up without this fixed source setup. It’s not just convenient, it’s the only reason this model works at scale.”
By embedding sports directly into their digital subscription offerings, JFM is strengthening community ties while building a sustainable model for local journalism. “We want to be at the forefront of local journalism and civic engagement,” said Bang. “Live sports help us connect with communities in new ways and drive real business results.” “JFM is proof you can do big things with a lean setup,” said Svante, Holmdahl, Product Lead at Wowza. “Using our fixed live source tech, they’re streaming thousands of games across hundreds of venues with no new keys, no endless setup, just pure focus on getting local sports to fans. That’s the kind of forward-thinking application we love to support.”
Wowza’s Flowplayer technology will be demonstrated on Wowza’s stand at IBC 2025 in Amsterdam on stand 5. F81.

laborate without compromise.”
Users often face technical challenges in meetings due to limited USB-C inputs and inadequate Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) support. With Lightware’s MTR integration, Taurus switchers connect personal laptops to room peripherals, providing access to audio, video, charging, and wired guest internet via VLAN-based network access. 4K60 Hz 4:4:4 local content sharing ensures high-quality visuals, while support for multi-source scenarios keeps sessions flowing when switching between presenters.
Unlike basic switchers, Taurus monitors whether the room codec is in a call before routing USB and video signals. Features like Auto-Selection, First Detect, Last Detect, and source prioritization ensure smooth handovers without interruptions. For example, if one presenter is sharing content and another connects their laptop just to charge, Taurus’ First Detect mode keeps the original presentation live instead of switching sources incorrectly.
Integration with Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android systems ensures compatibility with popular conferencing hardware such as Cisco Room Devices and HP/Poly X and G series devices. Device monitoring, the robust LW3 protocol, and intelligent automation tools, such as Lightware’s LARA platform, empower system integrators during installation and further reduce IT interventions once the room is in operation, ensuring meetings start
on time and run smoothly. Simplified management of displays, lights, projectors, blinds and more can be accessed from a single control panel, improving user experience.
An American health insurance provider recently standardised hundreds of meeting rooms with Microsoft Teams Rooms and chose the Taurus UCX, installed by AV integrator RoomReady, for its reliable video conferencing integration. “Lightware’s technology made the switch simple and vastly improved user experience, providing easy access and control even with personal devices,” says Izzi Demara, Marketing Coordinator at RoomReady. “The integration of Microsoft Teams Room with our Taurus switchers solves many issues faced in complex collaboration scenarios,” adds Vida. “We are giving users the control and flexibility to carry out successful meetings without interruptions, empowering professionals to focus on the agenda rather than being distracted by technology.”
ProAudioSystems supplies turnkey mobile solution for City of Culture
As UK City of Culture 2025, Bradford is playing host to an extensive programme of events in the arts and entertainment field. With a rich and diverse cultural heritage as the backdrop to a year of celebration, Bradford 2025 has invested in a number of innovative creative spaces to provide opportunities for people to engage with cultural events. One of the most exciting and versatile of these is The Beacon, a custom-made mobile venue, which is being constructed, dismantled and moved between four different city locations Wibsey Park, Bowling Park, Cliffe Castle Park and Lister Park.
A packed programme of events at each site includes weekday shows and weekend festivals, featuring music, comedy, clubs, classes, family activities and more. Following a tendering process, Bradford 2025 engaged locally based Pro Audio Systems (PAS) to supply and install all of the unique venue’s technical requirements, drawing on all the company’s expertise and experience to meet its many challenges. Dave Simpson of PAS describes the scale and demands of the installation: “With the exception of the venue’s structure, drapes and trussing, we pretty much supplied and installed everything that could possibly be needed for what is a great concept, including stage decking. Everything had to be considered in terms of not only of the ways the venue was to be configured, but also to guarantee professional quality, robustness, and easy handling.”
Having a maximum capacity of 300 for standing gigs, The Beacon is used at each site in a number of different orientations to accommodate its extremely busy and diverse programme. Layouts for cabaret, in-the-round, end-on, and even a central catwalk, were all required, which in turn meant that within sufficient time to de-rig between events, the sound and lighting systems needed to be designed and fixed to seamlessly cater for whatever activity (in whatever format) was taking place.
The PAS team collaborated closely with The Beacon’s technical manager, experienced lighting and sound technician, Sam McCarthy Robinson, who designed the systems to ensure optimal coverage and quality. Light-
in
ing throughout the venue is by Chauvet, including power and control, with more than 50 fixtures deployed from the COLORado, EVE, MaverickForce, Rogue, and SlimBANK ranges, for maximum flexibility. A Chauvet Amhaze EVO haze machine was also installed to enhance a variety of productions. A Panasonic PTVMZ71 portable projector was also included. The venue’s main sound system is by EM acoustics, comprising compact precision point source R8 and R4 loudspeakers driven by EM Acoustics amplification.
Powered stage monitors by RCFcan also be used flexibly to create a simple portable PA if required. PAS supplied a wide variety of microphones, including headset units by DPA, handheld Shure mics, and AKG overheads, as well as Radial DI boxes. An Allen & Heath SQ6 console handles mixing duties, and a Sennheiser Mobile Connect system was installed to enable assistive listening and inclusive live audience engagement. Dave Simpson continues: “With PAS as effectively the sole supplier for the job, it meant that planning and delivery ould be efficient and straightforward so things could proceed without any delays. We worked ‘hand in glove with the team at the Beacon to achieve an excellent outcome. On top of the main elements of audio and lighting, we supplied all cabling, stands, power distribution, display screens, flight cases and even a mirror ball!”

LEA amplifiers in Nashville’s Urban Cowboy
Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Nashville Arcade is a historic landmark spanning nearly five acres and covering two city blocks. Constructed between 1902 and 1903, it was Nashville’s first enclosed shopping centre and has long been a hub for commerce and culture in Nashville. Over the years, the Arcade has housed a variety of tenants, including retail shops, restaurants, offices, and art galleries. As of 2025, over 30 food and beverage and retail concepts have been introduced, transforming the Arcade into a vibrant urban destination.
Urban Cowboy Bar is an anchor tenant of the Arcade and a distinctive addition to the city’s vibrant nightlife scene. Opened in April 2025, this multi-level, 8,000-square-foot venue offers a blend of immersive design and a dynamic atmosphere, making it a one-ofa-kind destination for both locals and visitors. Urban Cowboy Bar is intended as an elevated cowboy experience, offering a blend of quality food, creative cocktails, and a welcoming environment. The space features a mix of high-energy and laid-back areas, each with its own unique character. The upstairs boasts a high-design cocktail lounge with velvet details and mirror-backed bars, while the downstairs saloon offers a
more rustic ambiance with wooden elements and eclectic decor, including taxidermy and vintage signage. Before opening, venue staff contacted Joseph Hazelwood, founder of Hazelwood Laboratories, to design an audio system for their varied music zones. The bar wanted audio capabilities for DJs, Apple AirPlay, house music, and local zone control in each area. Out of the gate, Hazelwood knew amplifiers from LEA Professional were more than up to the task. “I try to use LEA amplifiers for every project because I’ve found them to be well-suited to my installations, and there are more than enough products in the Connect Series line, so I don’t need to look elsewhere,” said Hazelwood. “The addition of the half-rack amplifiers is exciting and made the decision even simpler for me.”
Hazelwood installed Connect Series 704 and Connect Series 354 amplifiers, plus new half-rack models including Connect Series 124 and Connect Series 64 in the expansive bar. The IoT-enabled 4-channel CS704 provides 700 watts per channel, while the 4-channel CS354 offers 350 watts per channel. The smaller but still mighty 4-channel CS124 delivers 120 watts per channel, and the 4-channel CS64 offers 60 watts per channel. All of LEA’s models support Hi-Z (70V or 100V) and Lo-Z selectable by channel and feature Smart Power Bridge technology. Additionally, the Connect Series delivers an industry-first professional amplifier family to feature cloud connectivity, a revolutionary advancement and a significant benefit for anyone maintaining the systems.
With LEA Cloud, AV teams can remotely control and monitor the amplifiers, including half-rack models, regardless of the location or time of day, and it’s completely free to use. Hazelwood utilised LEA’s free SharkWare software to configure a base profile and push it out to all the pre-staged LEA amplifiers. SharkWare includes amplifier grouping, offline design, granular user access control levels, locked speaker tunings, and a graphical EQ. The software lets users view and adjust channel settings, including input settings, signal generator, crossover, equalizer, limiter, and load monitoring, for all LEA Connect Series amplifiers.
Hazelwood also installed eight custom HazeX wall controllers, allowing staff to select zones, control the volume, and change sources separately. His unique audio controllers combine the tactile experience of analogue hardware with the capability of smart technology, providing users with simple, independent control of multiple zones and sources through API calls to the LEA amplifiers. The grand opening event in May 2025 was a huge success, featuring live music, DJs, tattoo artists, stilt walkers, and interactive photo ops. Whether you are seeking a casual drink, a gourmet meal, or a night of entertainment, this venue provides a multifaceted experience in the heart of Nashville’s historic Arcade. “The Urban Cowboy Bar is a very unique and fun environment,” said Hazelwood. “The different vibes around the space – some more mellow, others high energy – cater to different moods and personalities. I think LEA amplifiers were the perfect choice for the venue, and I can’t wait to use them again on my next install.”
Meyer Sound for 2025 Montreux Jazz Festival
Between July 4 and 19, the 59th Montreux Jazz Festival brought 250,000 music fans together for two weeks of live music along the sparkling shores of Switzerland’s Lake Geneva. More than 700 performances from legends to rising stars filled its stages with genres spanning jazz, Latin music, R&B, pop, rock, EDM, and hip hop. Kicking off with a tribute to Quincy Jones by Chaka Khan, the lineup spanned icons and fresh voices alike, including Samara Joy, Max Richter, RAYE, Benson Boone, Shaboozey and Brandi Carlile. Now in its 39th year as the festival’s Global Official Sound Partner, Meyer Sound powered 15 venues and spaces throughout Montreux with more than 400 loudspeakers, delivering extraordinary experiences for artists and audience members alike. All audio, lighting, and video equipment was supplied once again by Swiss rental company and integrator Skynight, with audio systems designed by Meyer Sound’s Application Architect José Gaudin
At the festival’s iconic Lake Stage – its final year before a planned move back to the Auditorium Stravinski in 2026- Meyer Sound deployed a loudspeaker system designed for scale and precision. For the first time, the stage’s main system was powered entirely by Class D amplification, offering a lighter, more efficient footprint without compromising impact. PANTHER large-format linear line array loudspeakers anchored the system, supported by LEOPARD, LINA, and ULTRA-X40 loudspeakers and 2100-LFC low frequency control elements. “People love it. The detail is so crazy, you can hear things you’ve never heard on another system,” says Martin Reich, the festival’s sound coordinator and resident engineer at the Lake Stage. “The system is so well-behaved and precise, we can keep the energy focused on the audience without shaking the neighbours’ windows – even with a five-story apartment building right beside us. The festival sits in the middle of town, so control is critical.”
Beyond the Lake Stage, Meyer Sound systems enabled immersive and experimental performances across Montreux. At Ipanema – the festival’s premier DJ venue – two ULTRA-X80 versatile point source loudspeakers served as the main P.A., with support from ULTRA-X40 and ULTRA-X20 compact point source loudspeakers. Spacemap Go, Meyer Sound’s spatial sound design and mixing tool, allowed DJs to move sound throughout the room even when working from simple stereo sources. “At first, I didn’t expect it to work as well as it did with just a left/right signal, but it makes the room feel more alive,” says Sebastian Hefti, Ipanema’s front of house engineer. “It keeps the energy moving without distracting the artist.”
The Memphis venue, a hot spot for late-night jam sessions, expanded its creative capabilities this year with ULTRA-X80 loudspeakers as the main left/right system, complemented by other ULTRA family loudspeakers for immersive effects. The space’s Spacemap Go system supported both traditional mixes for visiting engineers
and more adventurous spatial soundscapes, including real-time sound panning. The venue’s technical team experimented with tactile control devices – including joysticks and stream decks—and linked audio movement with lighting automation, creating a synchronized immersive audiovisual experience. For visiting engineers, Meyer Sound systems provided a transparent, reliable foundation for performances across all genres. Matthias Garrick, front of house engineer for RAYE, calls his experience mixing on the PANTHER system “nothing short of incredible… something about it sings, something about it soars, and of course it absolutely roars,” he says. “Getting a large, tight mix with so many sources and still having the headroom to sit one of the most present vocals I’ve ever heard on top—these boxes take it all in stride.”
With Meyer Sound systems covering stages from the open-air Lake Stage to Montreux’s most intimate venues, the company’s role demands both flexibility and power. “This festival pushes us to think big and small at the same time,” says Andy Davies, Meyer Sound’s senior director of product management. “We’re delivering the sheer power of the Lake Stage one moment, and enabling spatial, immersive moments at Ipanema and Memphis the next. That range is what makes Montreux special—and why, after nearly four decades, we’re ex-

Joey Diehl, FOH, for Benson Boone commented: “Thanks to the Meyer team [of Oscar Barrientos and Ianina Canalis] for how they tuned the Lake Stage system. I was not only surprised but also thrilled with how the show sounded. The power, clarity, and the speed of the drivers let me play around with details I rarely ever get.” Patrick Tunbridge, FOH for Grace Jones asses: “It was fantastic to be back at Montreux Jazz Festival again this year mixing the Grace Jones show with Meyer Sound, this time on the outdoor Lake Stage. It was an effortless, very enjoyable experience. Of particular note was the system being almost devoid of any corrective EQ, and no EQ on my console master bus. Big thanks to Meyer Sound!”
Immersive Monet
Following the popularity of the Beyond Van Gogh floorto-ceiling exhibit, the legendary landscapes of Claude Monet are on display in an immersive show in Liverpool from July 15, 2025 - August 15, 2025. Art historian Fanny Curtat is a consultant and part of the creative team bringing the works of Van Gogh and now Monet to life.
The show is roughly one hour in duration and is set up in a walk-through style. People of all ages can be part of every brushstroke as Monet’s artwork comes to life in front of their very eyes. Guests can become one with the paintings as projections of Monet’s pieces swirl around, transforming the space into an ethereal representation of his life’s work. His artwork expands beyond the framed canvases through music, sound effects and scenography that will awaken the senses and create a captivating atmosphere. Beyond Monet promises to break conventions with this spectacular audio-visual journey through impressionism. In Monet’s vision lies an incandescent world without a shore, a world of fleeting and effervescent reflections. Beyond our gaze is Monet.
Created by French-Canadian creative director Mathieu St-Arnaud and his team at Montreal’s Normal Studio, Beyond Monet is an immersive experience showcasing over 400 of the artist’s works. Paquin Entertainment Group is the company that handles the cutting-edge technology.
Visitors aren’t just greeted by the famous paintings, they walk and sit in the midst of them. Arguably, Monet’s most famous work was ‘Water Lilies.’ It’s estimated he painted them 250 times during the 30 years of his life. But beyond the ‘Water Lilies,’ guests will watch more than 400 Monet paintings in front of their eyes. “It really feels like you’re looking into something bigger. You really feel like you’re in the middle of something grander,” Curtat said. “It feels almost like an inner landscape.”
d&b’s Barbican Fiddler on the Roof
Having won the 2025 Olivier Award for Best Sound Design for Fiddler on the Roof at Regents Park Open Air Theatre, sound designer Nick Lidster revised his solution to meet the requirements of a new, indoor home, the Barbican Theatre. Unlike many conventional proscenium houses, the Barbican relies on chain hoists to fly a PA, making a line array the preferred solution. Happily, sound supplier Autograph offered Lidster the very latest technology, in the form of d&b’s CCL (Compact Cardioid Line Array) system.
The new CCL system – bringing d&b’s renowned directivity control to its most compact line array yet –proved the ideal solution for sound designer Nick Lidster at the Barbican Theatre. the XSL – the smallest member of d&b’s ground-breaking SL - Series. “I had used the XSL cardioid system in the States and had enjoyed the extra headroom on the radio mic system before feedback,” he explains. “They also sounded good. So, when Autograph offered the new CCL for the Fiddler on the Roof run at the Barbican, I was happy to try them.”
CCL continues the evolution of d&b’s outstanding directivity control and low-frequency cardioid performance characterised by the SL-Series, now making it possible in a more compact, lightweight and efficient system, suited to a wider range of smaller, more intimate applications. Lidster was confident that this new
system would deliver the control he needed to ensure the sound coverage was clear and consistent throughout the auditorium. What’s more, the CCL achieves this directivity, for the first time, in a passive design – enabling increased efficiency in amplification. “With the CCL system I would be able to use one D40 amplifier channel to drive two boxes,” he says, “which is far more efficient for a theatre PA system – and for Autograph as a hire company.”
This efficiency meant the two main hangs, each of 16 CCL, were powered by just two of d&b’s 4-channel D40 amplifiers per side – one channel per pair of cabinets. As an experienced, long-term customer of d&b, the Autograph team required little support from the manufacturer, reaching out only to obtain a 3D CAD file of the Barbican Theatre via d&b’s ArrayCalc software. Thanks to the intuitive nature of the d&b workflow, this gave Lidster everything he needed.
The two main arrays, each with 12 CCL8 cabinets (80° dispersion) above four CCL12s (120° dispersion), were complemented by an additional centre cluster of four CCL12s for down-fill, with LF reinforcement from six CCL Subs. Finally, a selection of d&b Y7P and the wider dispersion Y10P point source cabinets serve the gallery truss system and side-fills, completing the desired consistency for the audience. The system’s promised cardioid performance delivered real benefits. For this show, Lidster is employing a mix of miniature boom and lavalier microphones for the 27 cast members. He says, “The rear rejection from the PA certainly helps to even out the difference between them. The level and clarity differences between the two types of microphone systems is, to an extent, equalised. I think the new HF driver and overall sound of the CCL arrays was very natural and I required very little CPL to get the sound I needed,” Lidster adds, referring to the Coupling control feature for line array correction within d&b’s ArrayCalc software. The CCL boxes also ‘pack a punch’ when required. Everything seems to have been well considered in the build of this product.” The CCL also offers the practical advantages of d&b’s ‘system reality’ approach – including flying and mounting accessories, and carts. “The production sound engineer, Larry Golland, said the CCLs were nice and easy to rig and fly,” says Lidster. “They also looked very neat and the right scale in this venue.”
Multi-zone spatial audio elevates German Football Museum experience
The ambitious “In Motion – Art & Football” exhibition at Dortmund’s German Football Museum celebrates The Beautiful Game through the medium of great art, featuring works from iconic 20th-century artists from around the world. Deploying high-powered projectors, LED displays and an advanced audio system with 25 Genelec Smart IP networked loudspeakers, the exhibition provides a richly immersive visitor experience. Twenty-three UHD Epson projectors animate dynamic
surfaces, complemented by film, photography and sound. Visitors move through three distinct zones, encountering features including a 22-metre “Painter’s Palette” floor projection and a 5.1 x 4.2-metre projected sketchbook. German integrators SIGMA System Audio-Visual were tasked with the complex AV design and installation. “We’ve worked with the German Football Museum for over ten years,” explains Christian Backes, SIGMA’s head of AV-Integration. “We provided the original AV and media systems. This is a long-term exhibition, but importantly, it’s designed so that when they choose a new theme, only the content needs changing – the core technology remains.”
A multi-layered audio system was essential to support the large space and numerous displays. Berlin-based LEM Studios and PBX Studios were responsible for the sound design and audio content production. Markus ‘Hossi’ Hossack of LEM Studios served as lead sound designer, mixing audio in both the studio and onsite. Starting from a stereo soundtrack, Hossack worked to adapt it into a rich, immersive soundscape. “The idea was to get the whole place shaking,” he explains.
A powerful in-ceiling system provided full-range audio across the venue, but for immersive playback, the sound had to be more intimate. “For the immersive details the sound needed to get ‘up close and personal’ to the visitors,” says Hossack. To achieve this, 25 Genelec 4430A Smart IP loudspeakers were installed discreetly beneath the two large lateral projection walls, each
Having won the 2025 Olivier Award for Best Sound Design for Fiddler Nick Lidster revised his solution to meet the requirements of a new,
17.5m by 26.5m. The 4430s played individual audio elements, creating a spatialised mix where different speakers delivered different content depending on where visitors stood.
At one point in the show, classical waltz music filled the room via the ceiling system, while the Genelecs played isolated instrument parts. Subtle sound effects like footsteps, pencil sketches and raindrops were also localised to match visuals. “We wanted to create a ‘walkable cinema’,” says Hossack. “We wanted to contain the sound in different zones of audio, giving each visitor a unique listening experience. In the studio we mixed in Dolby Atmos and were able to prepare everything in 7.1.4,” Hossack continues. “However, in the venue this had to be scaled up to incorporate all 50 loudspeakers. Managing the timing, routing and synchronisation was a real challenge, and we only had four days to put everything together,” he admits. “It was tight!”
Genelec’s Smart IP Manager software proved invaluable. “Given the short deadline, it was essential to work quickly, and Smart IP Manager enabled me to handle any filtering I wanted to do, as well as adding latency to each loudspeaker,” says Hossack. “We took the middle of the show as our zero and worked out from there to maintain the immersive effect, adjusting for latency as we went.” The Smart IP system’s network connectivity was crucial, with audio, power, and management all carried on a single CAT cable. Hossack and LEM Studi-
os had previously worked on a Marvel exhibition using 70 Genelec Smart IP speakers. “We raised the audio budget for that project significantly,” says Hossack. “But the scalability, sound quality and quick installation make it worth the cost. “We are delighted with the Genelec equipment in our own studio,” Hossack continues. “The audio information is precise, and the translation from one space to another works perfectly. We have a Smart IP setup in the studio as well as Genelec studio loudspeakers, and once onsite we didn’t have to retune anything – everything sounded exactly as it did in the studio.”
While ultra-precise localisation wasn’t always achievable, Hossack believes the outcome was even more effective. “Visitors were free to explore the exhibition, so getting them in the exact sweet spot for a particular audio moment would have been impossible. With slightly less focused localisation, the listening experience became more accessible while still achieving the immersive effect. I was very happy it turned out so well with just four days to set up.” Christian Backes from SIGMA shares that enthusiasm. “It’s a huge pleasure for us to use our expertise and media technology to help create an exhibition that connects people globally.”
Despite the tight timeline and technical complexity, Genelec’s Smart IP loudspeakers proved pivotal in shaping an immersive, memorable audio journey through art and football. With plans underway to tour the exhibition globally, the Smart IP system is seen as essential to making that possible. “The system can be installed or taken down in a fraction of the time of traditional systems,” concludes Hossack. “It’s the most versatile loudspeaker I know on the market.” Thanks to the clarity, scalability, and ease of deployment of Genelec’s Smart IP series, the story of “In Motion – Art & Football” is only just kicking off.

These thin and lightweight mesh LED displays, with 10.4mm pixel pitch, are designed for indoor or outdoor environments and feature transparent and non-transparent carbon fibre for low wind resistance and sound transmission. The modular design, coupled with a highstrength carbon fibre housing and IP65 outdoor protection rating, is suitable for a wide range of simple or complex hanging or free-standing applications. This marks the first time Blue-i Europe has supplied technology to Holiday on Ice. The CLM10.4 LED walls are proving to be the perfect match for the challenging and demanding environment of touring ice shows. Despite the cold temperatures, moisture, and the constant risk of condensation from the ice, the CLM10.4’s lightweight and robust design make it ideally suited for the tour. The display’s transparency, brightness, and resistance to environmental factors such as humidity ensure that the screens remain bright and clear, regardless of conditions.
“It’s a really impressive use case of this product because it’s bright enough for large arenas, it’s waterproof enough for ice rinks, it’s lightweight enough to hang large volumes, and I think it’s the perfect product for this production,” says Ethan Forde, European Sales Director at Blue-i Europe. “The Holiday on Ice team knew exactly what they needed and, having already used Leyard products before, it was an easy decision. The CLM10.4’s durability and low power consumption, combined with its ability to withstand the rigours of touring, make it the perfect fit for these types of live performances,” adds Ed Cooper, Director of Blue-i Theatre Technology. “Luke Marler-Hausen [Co-Territory Head UKRental & Staging at Leyard Europe], is always at the end of the phone and he’s quick to react. We were quite demanding at the start with our first investment, but nothing was too much trouble.”
With over 80 years of success, more than 330 million viewers have experienced the magic of Holiday on Ice in over 100 different shows at almost 60,000 performances on five continents. The annual spectacle, under the expert direction of executive producer Michiel Morssinkhof and CEO Peter O’Keeffe, is considered the epitome of sophisticated live entertainment on ice and has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records five times. As part of this groundbreaking show, Leyard’s CarbonLight CLM10.4 LED screens are providing crisp, dynamic visuals across a massive 160 square metres of
Another standout use of Leyard technology is in the production of & Juliet, the smash-hit musical that began its run on the West End in 2019 and has since toured nationally and internationally, picking up three Olivier Awards and six WhatsOnStage Awards along the way. The show presents a fun and modern twist on the timeless Shakespearean tale of Romeo and Juliet, with a soundtrack of iconic pop anthems from songwriter, producer, and hitmaker Max Martin. Flipping the script on the greatest love story ever told, it asks, what would happen next if Juliet didn’t end it all over Romeo? For this production, Blue-i Europe also provided Planar CarbonLight CLM10.4 LED displays, chosen for their high performance, transparency, and ability to integrate seamlessly into the show’s creative vision. The CLM10.4 is key to the show’s design, where moments of transparency reveal the theatre’s house lighting, transforming the set between scenes. The lightweight, carbon fibre construction of the panels made them an ideal solution for London’s Shaftesbury Theatre’s weight restrictions, while the robust design ensured the displays continued to perform at their best during the rigours of touring. Accompanying the Leyard video walls, and also supplied by Blue-i Europe, are Colorlight Z6 4K processors,
chosen for their colour production and brightness control capabilities. “We conducted numerous shootouts at the start since it was a new product and manufacturer for us,” explains Cooper. “Leyard, especially for us as a young company at the time, stood out compared to others. Their CarbonLight panels were ideal for the West End venue, where weight was a key factor. The carbon construction made them both lightweight and durable, unlike other 10mm transparent products that can get fragile after touring. Technicians also appreciated the speed of remapping with Leyard panels, which saved valuable time on-site.”
The creative team, including the show’s designer Andrzej Goulding and system engineer Dan Trenchard, have praised the CLM10.4 for its perfect balance of transparency, weight, and durability without compromising on performance. “Having the link cables attached to the panels saves a lot of time,” adds Forde. “They’re lightweight, making it easy for one person to lift and rig them. The AM fast action locks, used on the West End show, were also really effective. The displays on the back are useful, too, letting us quickly check runtime, temperatures, errors, and monitor our rental stock for better batch matching efficiency. The CLM10.4 is probably one of our biggest workhorses. It’s always in demand, so we upgraded and bought a load of 6.9mm versions as well. For clients who don’t necessarily need the transparency, but want all the other features, 6.9 really hits the mark.”
In between touring, the LED setup has also been used on We Will Rock You at the London Coliseum, Strictly Come Dancing Live! and various other arena shows. “The Leyard screens always come back with the fewest errors, faults, or damages,” concludes Forde. “Having Leyard based here in Europe is a real plus, and the service we get from the company in terms of spares and support is always super quick. We pride ourselves on offering the best solutions to our clients, and working with Leyard Europe has been a key part of that. Their commitment to quality and innovation has been evident throughout our partnership, and we’re excited to continue supporting productions like Holiday on Ice and & Juliet with world-class technology.”
Avocor modernizes worship and increases community presence
The Church of Scotland (C of S), as Scotland’s national church and largest Christian body, recently undertook a review of its operations. This review led to a plan to transform its Fraserburgh parish in Aberdeenshire into a key regional hub, integrating the neighbouring towns of Rosehearty and Inverallochy. This initiative effectively consolidated seven churches into three. This consolidation was driven by financial constraints and smaller congregations, but it also presented an opportunity for the C of S to overhaul its technological infrastructure. Many existing AV systems were outdated or entirely absent, highlighting a clear need for standardisation and scalability across all locations. To enhance both worship
and community engagement, the Church recognized that integrating advanced technology was crucial. The growing reliance on recorded materials in church services further underscored the need for modernization. 3:16 AVI of Peterhead was selected as the systems integrator for the project due to the company’s strong track record in the sector. A key driver for the direction of the project was the requirement for these spaces to become multi-use whilst respecting the architectural integrity of the buildings. A need for discreet technology that complemented the listed spaces was a challenge needing consideration. Additionally, accessibility and usability for non-technical users were important factors, as these churches aim to be utilized by various groups in the community beyond regular church services. “A collaborative approach was absolutely essential in crafting a tailored design solution for the worship space,” said Alexander Dixon, Director at 3:16 AVI. “After meeting them at ISE 2025, we recognized that Avocor’s K Series would be ideal for this project. The product blends seamlessly with the church’s traditional architecture, thanks to its slim bezel and discreet design, while ensuring the technology enhances the space and congregation experience. In addition, the ability to integrate with a smart control system allows simple and intuitive use of all the church’s facilities via a simple interface.” Implementation began with a comprehensive assessment of the AV infrastructure across the three consoli-

dated church locations. The seven K Series installed at the Fraserburgh site deliver superior visual clarity and seamless design integration. With 450 nits of brightness and 90% colour accuracy, the K Series displays provide content options that can be customized according to specific needs. The K Series is equipped with DisplayNote Montage, enabling seamless wireless screen sharing, and Rise Vision, for dynamic digital signage, content management. With identical setups across all three churches, the new Avocor displays have significantly enhanced the church’s communication and collaboration efforts, allowing for congregations to offer seamless services for anyone in the facility. With creative mounting solutions, preservation of architectural integrity was achieved, particularly through custom pole brackets being used to avoid damage within the listed buildings.
There has been a positive reception with an increase in the expected usage. With schools and local groups now using the spaces for events, turning the church into a community hub has been an additional bonus. With future plans of improvement, including the introduction of mobile AV solutions and increased media use to engage with streaming and interactive content, the modernization project continues. The C of S in Fraserburgh and surrounding areas, is now well equipped to meet the evolving needs of modern church services and provide spaces for communities to thrive.
Optimised Martin Audio array for basketball arena upgrade
Situated at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Murfreesboro, The Murphy Centre - home to the University’s men’s and women’s basketball and track teams - recently commissioned a new Martin Audio WPS line array system, after a long gestation period, dating back several years. The contract was won by the experienced Nashville-based Spectrum Sound Inc, which has been providing audio production services to customers since 1979 and has lately been turning increasingly to Martin Audio for its installed sound solutions.
The arena’s outdated PA system had reached end-oflife after years of patchwork fixes. To deliver modern performance and reliability, Spectrum Sound was tasked with designing a new solution. Key goals included consistent coverage, high speech intelligibility, and full-range musical reproduction across the 11,520-seat venue. With the space also hosting conferences, graduations, and community events, system versatility was essential. Spectrum Sound’s team recognised that Martin Audio’s Wavefront Precision series, with its advanced control and optimisation capabilities, was ideally suited to managing the challenging acoustics of a reverberant basketball court, further complicated by reflective glass walls. Martin Audio’s WPS and WPM arrays were chosen for their scalable coverage and clarity. This combination ensures powerful, adaptable sound for events of any size or format, delivering a consistent, high-quality experience in every seat. System Integration Sales Managers Ken DeBelius and Paul Royer secured the project after a compelling on-site demo by Martin Audio’s Director of Strategic Projects, Brad Stephens, won over the client.
Following the bid, Operations Manager Zach Mitchell and Project Manager Rod Hester, saw the implementation through to completion, with assistance from Martin Audio’s Product & Application Support Manager, Joe Lima. The latter quickly formed a positive working relationship with the Spectrum team, assisting with the system engineering, designing an inspired 360° subwoofer array and seeing the project through to commissioning. “A major factor in choosing Martin Audio was its optimisation technology,” said Zach Mitchell. “We needed precise coverage only where it was needed. We worked closely with Joe throughout the process, taking his concept and making sure it was properly implemented, all while keeping the client’s goals front and centre.”
The old system was removed, and new custom rigging and steels designed for the new PA. The design solution was for a six WPS arrays in the round. “Utilising a mixture of array sizes, along with FlexPoint FP15s as court fills and CDD12s as a delay ring behind the scoreboards, we were able to get consistent coverage in every seat,” Mitchell explained. “A major factor in choosing Martin Audio was its optimization technology” explained Zach Mitchell, Operations Manager
But the major triumph is the 360° sub bass array conceived by Joe Lima. This comprises four clusters of four

SXCF118 cardioid subs flown in the centre of the arena. Lima’s eyes immediately lit up on surveying the site. “This was a rare opportunity in an arena that didn’t have a centre scoreboard, but rather two giant LED walls on the ends,” he said. “This allowed us the full real estate of the grid for sub placement.” A radial 360° dispersion TM (in the round) array immediately came to mind. The team started working on various configurations with different boxes in Martin Audio’s DISPLAY3 prediction software, until they landed on the SXCF118. “This fulfilled all requirements while staying under the grid’s load limits,” Lima recognised. “We knew we didn’t have to steer energy away from the bottom, as they were also required to fill the court for the players, so line length wasn’t a concern, and 16 boxes (four hangs of four boxes on different axes) hit the SPL we needed.”
But Lima sensed they were in unchartered waters using cardioid subs. “We tried different approaches in DISPLAY 3—playing with distance, aim and delay times—and ended up with a variation of the TM array, where the subs are aiming sideways, instead of inwards, and are a bit spiralled off centre, with a slight upwards delay. “With this configuration we gained 2dB over the traditional TM layout, and it gave us a ±2dB variance in the octave around 50Hz, in the entire seating area of the arena with the court being 6dB down. It’s probably the most coherent and consistent subwoofer system I’ve ever experienced.”
Completing the complement of speakers is an additional 24 WPMs (12-a-side) deployed in a portable fashion, for graduations and special events, augmenting WPS with courtside coverage. Other complexities included setting the Hard Avoid values, since the raked seating is retractable. Thus, to ensure optimum direction of energy in all configurations Spectrum deployed a custom Q-SYS solution P\programmed by Max Kelley to recall system presets based on the needs of each event. All DSP meanwhile is contained in the combination of Martin Audio iK42 and iK81 process controlled amplifiers which drive the main system in 1-box resolution.
In addition to the PA, Spectrum Sound provided a full acoustic treatment package, installed an advanced network and fibre infrastructure, and oversaw a console upgrade. As a result, all feeds -whether commentators’ mics, video playback, and other live and pre-recorded sources - are faithfully reproduced. As Zach Mitchell confirms, “This is the largest project we’ve completed with Martin Audio and the difference in the room is night and day - the system is very flexible and translates all sources accurately.”
Paul Royer summed it up: “Our customers are thrilled with the performance of the Martin Audio system, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. This project reinforced our confidence in Martin Audio and enables us to provide even greater results for our clients.” Ron Malone, Assistant VP Business & Finance at MTSU, added his thanks to Spectrum Sound for their “incredible assistance” during the installation phase. “The Martin Wavefront Precision system has performed precisely as advertised,” he said. “Its capability to con-
trol and direct the acoustical energy, both where we determine it is needed, and at the same time where we do not want audio, met our primary goal of this project. It provides better zone control to accommodate various configurations for floor coverage during event games, and floor/bowl coverage during Convocation with a stage. “We could not be happier with our selection, and we know that we could not have done this without the great folks at Spectrum Sounds Inc.”

DiGiCo Quantum 225 at Hangzhou Butterfly Theatre
Yue Opera is a popular Chinese opera genre that features women in all roles. For Hangzhou Butterfly Theatre’s successful premier of My Grand View Garden the audio team chose to invest in a DiGiCo Quantum 225, supplied by Rightway Audio Consultant (RAC) to deliver the required clarity and immersive experience that is amazing and delighting audiences. The Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yue Opera Theatre have enjoyed extraordinary success over the last decade, engaging new and younger audiences in the classic Yue Opera genre. Founded in 1984, the troupe is dedicated to modernizing, innovating and raising awareness of the art-form. A key feature of the genre is articulation and pronunciation, the predominate dialect is the traditional Wu, rather than
modern Mandarin, so the choice of audio equipment is very important.
The theatre utilises the Quantum 225 and an L-Acoustics L-ISA system to draw the audience into this lyrical story. Engineers appreciate the benefit of the powerful Quantum features in a compact console, managing high numbers of sound effects and scene changes with ease. Supporting the audio team were System Engineer, Wang Jianghua, and Hao Fange, Project Engineer. The pair supported the onsite engineers and liaised with DiGiCo to ensure everything was perfect for the performances. “Yue Theatre has a proud heritage and a strong fan-base, so we want everything to go well,” Jianghua explains. “The Quantum 225 is the perfect fit, and not just because of its compact footprint. The ability to utilise all the Quantum features, plus additional benefits like multiple DMI cards and USB Madi, make it endlessly adaptable and perfect for a busy theatre like the Hangzhou Butterfly.”
My Grand View Garden is a masterpiece of Yue theatre, delicately portraying the story of Jia Baoyu, played by Chen Lijun, as he grows up under the trials and tribulations of society and his family. Based on the 18th century classic of Chinese literature, Dream of the Red Chamber, the story observes the world of the ‘Red Chamber’ from Jia Baoyu’s point of view, digging deep into the core connotations and cultural values of the rise and fall of a high society family. A story this epic requires the very best equipment and the pairing of the DiGiCo Quantum console and L-Acoustic L-ISA system leaves the audience fully immersed in the plot, as Fange concludes. “This Yue opera masterpiece interprets all kinds of life stories. The superior acting skills of Chen Lijun and other actors, together with the application of an impeccable audio system, make people unconsciously immersed in the plot, sharing the sorrows and joys with the characters,” he finishes. “The Quantum 225 delivers the control required to ride the emotions of the performance, and the intuitive workflow was undoubtedly a massive bonus for the engineers.”
LED wonder wall shines for Oasis
While Noel and Liam have been playing the songs in their solo guises, the clamour for Oasis never abated. And 16 years after their acrimonious split they’re back with a setlist for the ages. That’s the story. Two ‘Godlike Geniuses’ on stage, the want for ‘something biblical’ is apposite and award-winning video company Universal Pixels (UP) has been right behind the band’s massively acclaimed reunion since it kicked off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. Two dates that set a seismic template for Oasis Live ’25, 41 performances in 13 countries across five months.

huge upstage wall – 1,100sqm in Heaton Park - with IMAG screens 10 degrees back on either side. Universal Pixels brought in Brompton Technology to manage the ambitious video setup, deploying 16 4K Tessera SX40 LED video processors and 34 Tessera XD 10G data distribution units, chosen for their ability to provide full redundancy, superb image quality, and colour accuracy. That combines with the pixel-perfect playback capabilities of four Disguise GX 3 media servers which power generative Notch graphics and IMAG content. Using Disguise’s Designer software, it means show programmer Anthony Condon can precisely output and synchronise visuals across the screens, to stunning impact.
Steered by video director Jon Shrimpton, the band’s high-resolution backdrop is truly spectacular - from the opening slew of media commotion about the reunion via beautifully graded black and white headshots of Hello to the landscapes, cityscapes and seascapes that support Champagne Supernova two and half hours later. And the creative window is open, Oasis fans at the Cardiff dates applauding a Diogo Jota drop-in among the psychedelic artistry for Live Forever the day after the Liverpool centre forward’s car crash. The Oasis Live ’25 tour has stayed in step with its perfect start, a furore of fivestar reviews, and the video element amplifies, projects, and embellishes the performance right across these huge venues. Gareth Manicom, head of technical at Universal Pixels, comments, “Collaborating with Absen, Brompton Technology and Disguise means a smooth set-up, unwavering reliability and out of this world visuals, crucial elements in a tour that fans have been hoping for since 2009. It’s a pleasure to play a part in delivering an experience for each and every individual ticketholder that will live forever.”

It provides new, deeper levels of analysis, from player data to tactical decisions which could be the difference between success and failure.”
Jae O Choi Park, Head of Commercial EMEA for PPDS concluded: “We are delighted FC Barcelona recognised the quality and capabilities of Philips Professional Displays, and the possibilities they can provide. When it comes to quality, we do not accept second best and, as history tells you, neither does FC Barcelona”.
Disguise drives new immersive racing experience, F1 Box
Disguise has announced that it has worked with the creators of F1 Arcade - the world’s first official experiential hospitality brand dedicated to Formula 1 - to deliver F1 Box, a thrilling new racing simulator experience in Westfield Stratford City shopping centre. Designed to fully immerse fans in the authentic feel of a real Formula 1 race, F1 Box includes 12 full-motion racing simulators complete with audiovisual commentary and 4K screens for gameplay. Powered by and controlled through Disguise, an LED wall and reactive LED lighting on the racing simulators and floor-to-ceiling arches add a dramatic edge to the racing showdown, where players can compete in two twenty-minute, back-to-back races before celebrating wins with real-time leaderboard content developed by Disguise.
To bring the experience to life, Disguise’s technical services team began by using the 3D visualiser in Disguise’s Designer software to create a real-time, pixel-accurate representation of the entire space, including visuals, lighting, leaderboard and simulators. This visualisation was sent directly to F1 Box stakeholders
for approval, saving days by streamlining the process and ensuring the creative vision was met in pre-production. Quick changes could then be implemented in Designer before the team even arrived on site, helping to reduce the production timeline even further. Once on site, the Disguise team programmed the entire space, with synchronised LED visuals, atmospheric lighting and immersive audio all coming together in one multisensory hit thanks to Disguise’s video output, lighting and API controls, and DMX mapping - which linked the LED wall, arches and simulator lighting in perfect unison. This elevated F1 Box so that, unlike traditional arcade simulators, the experience expanded to fill an entire room. Anyone entering the space would be surrounded by everything from LEDs across the back wall to wraparound lights and more, with key moments including strobe lighting pulsing to the sound of a heartbeat and a nail-biting starting grid countdown to further the immersion. To fulfil F1 Arcade’s vision and bring the competition to life, Disguise’s creative services team leveraged Designer’s data integration in Notch to pull rac-

Transforming customer experience at the Minnesota State Fair
LuLu’s Public House, a popular vendor at the Minnesota State Fair, sought a solution to streamline their customer experience and improve operational efficiency. Known for its lively atmosphere and wide selection of food and drinks, LuLu’s faced challenges in managing customer flow, particularly with the large crowds at the fair. To address these issues, the company partnered with Peerless-AV and its consulting integration partner Innovative Sales Solutions Inc. to implement a digital signage solution that would transform how menus were displayed and enhance the customer experience during the fair’s busiest days.
The project, which took place at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds in St. Paul, Minnesota, began with installation from August 1 through August 7, 2024. Peerless-AV provided a range of high-performance display solutions, allowing LuLu’s to showcase dynamic, real-time menu information both indoors and outdoors, ensuring high visibility in direct sunlight and increased customer engagement. The project was so successful it has been replicated for 2025. LuLu’s has previously relied on traditional printed menus, which created several inefficiencies. The large crowds at the Minnesota State
Fair - approximately 20,000 visitors per day - made it difficult for customers to make decisions promptly, often backing up the cash registers and delaying orders. Additionally, as menu items and prices could change frequently, manually updating printed menus was time-consuming and limited the ability to quickly respond to operational needs.
The required solution was a dynamic, easy-to-update digital signage system that would streamline customer flow, improve operational efficiency, and maximize sales. LuLu’s needed a display solution that could handle the fair’s high foot traffic and unpredictable environmental conditions, including exposure to bright sunlight. After evaluating their needs, LuLu’s turned to Peerless-AV. Peerless-AV’s experience in outdoor installations, along with its reputation for durable, high-brightness displays, made it the ideal partner for this project.
The installation included six individual outdoor digital menu boards, using Peerless-AV’s 55” Xtreme™ High Bright Outdoor Displays (XHB554), mounted in portrait using corrosion-resistant, low-profile Outdoor Wall Mounts (ESF655P). A 65” MaxHub LCD display in the patio area was also supported by an ESF655P mount. For indoor menu boards behind the bar, five 43” MaxHub LCD displays were installed individually in landscape, supported by Peerless-AV’s Ceiling Plates (CMJ470), Adjustable Length Extension Columns (AEC0203), SmartMount® Ceiling Mount Tilt Boxes
Disguise drives new immersive racing experience, F1 Box
(PLCM-2) and Universal I-Shaped Adaptors (PLP-UNL).
“We understand the unique challenges of installing digital signage in outdoor environments and the importance of choosing the correct solution to ensure its performance excels beyond expectations,” said John Peterson, VP Technology Sales at Innovative Sales Solutions, Inc. “Understanding LuLu’s required a solution for better efficiency, clear visibility in all weather conditions, and overall improvement to operations, we knew a combination of Peerless-AV’s durable and reliable professional displays and mounts would make a lasting impact.”
“Not only does Peerless-AV have a great product but they also have a knowledgeable and skilled team! Our sales contact, Gina Schneider, was super quick and helpful at getting us what we needed so we could deliver on time to the customer!” Peterson added. Peerless-AV’s solutions would provide the bright, clear images needed to ensure visibility, even in direct sunlight.
Installation took place in early August 2024, managed by Innovative Sales Solutions, chosen by LuLu’s Public House for the team’s previous installations in the Minnesota State Fair and knowledge of complete solution delivery, including mounting, cabling, displays, content management and creation. The installation process was smooth and straightforward, the only challenge being the routing of cables to the display locations. After considering a Wi-Fi-based system, the decision was made to implement a hardwired solution to ensure reliable performance and prevent connectivity issues. The installation was completed without disruption to the restaurant’s operations, and the displays were up and running before the busy fair season began.
The digital signage solution from Peerless-AV delivered tangible results for LuLu’s at the 2024 Minnesota State Fair. The product investment paid off after year one and will continue to each year. By replacing static menus with dynamic digital displays, the business experienced a 100% increase in customer flow. With customers already aware of their orders before reaching the register, there was less congestion and quicker turnaround times, leading to increased sales. Additionally, the ability to quickly change pricing and menu items in response to operational needs, such as the substitution of a slow-moving drink, directly impacted revenue, allowing for better adaptation to fluctuating demand. The system also provided an enhanced, modernized experience for customers, who appreciated the easy-to-read menus and the ability to quickly make decisions. “The displays are not just visually appealing; they’re highly functional, helping staff manage high-volume days much more efficiently,” said Erin Brumm, CEO of Innovative Sales Solutions, Inc. “LuLu’s are processing more sales, quicker service, and happier customers!”
LuLu’s was also pleased with the excellent customer service received, as well as the quality and competitive pricing of the products, which helped ensure that everything ran smoothly throughout the busy fair period. The 2024 project was so successful that Lulu’s is excited to repeat last year’s success again in 2025. Minnesota State Fair 2025 begins on August 21st and runs
through to Labor Day on September 1st. Charlie Burrows, Owner of Lulu’s at the Minnesota State Fair, had one main goal with the technology refresh: to process as many orders as possible while delivering a great customer experience. “The key is having customers make their ordering decision before they reach the counter. The Peerless-AV high bright display allows them to see their options from a much greater distance, resulting in faster engagements and shorter wait times. Digital signage software lets us update menu changes as we need to with no downtime. We’re pleased to say that the digital signage solution from Peerless-AV and delivered by Innovative Sales Solutions was key to our record setting year in 2024. We are excited for 2025!”
LuLu’s Public House, a popular vendor at the Minnesota State Fair, sought a solution to streamline their customer experience and improve operational efficiency.

Effective immediately, Hampshire-based Mike brings almost 15 years of knowledge and experience in the AV industry to the Solstice team, including more than three years of hands-on LED expertise and over a decade in distribution-focused roles.
During an accomplished career, Mike has developed a positive reputation for his customer-centric approach, building solutions that are tailored to clients’ exact needs, rather than relying on off-the-shelf, brand-led options. Reporting to Solstice AV company Director Paul Midwood, Mike joins the team at a time of significant opportunity for LED in the UK, as demand continues to grow across an ever-expanding range of markets, including corporate, education, and extended reality (XR) environments. Solstice AV works with a growing number of leading global LED manufacturers, including PPDS (Philips Professional Displays), BOE, LianTronics, and more.
Mike will be instrumental in developing Solstice AV’s technical sales capabilities and supporting the company’s strategic growth and expansion ambitions in the flourishing market. Recent figures valued the LED display market at over £1.65 billion in 2024, and it is expected to reach £2.37 billion by 2033. * Key responsibilities in the role will include, but are far from limited to, identifying new business opportunities, strengthening existing client relationships, developing scalable technical proposals, supporting the integration of LED into new verticals and applications, and ensuring Solstice
AV becomes a national destination for complete LED solutions, together with best-in-class customer service and support

Paul Midwood and the team are building something genuinely exciting, and I saw an opportunity to contribute from the ground up. My goal is to ensure we listen closely to what our customers need and then help design solutions that not only meet expectations but exceed them.” He continued: “Solstice already has a great reputation in the market. Whether it’s a corporate boardroom or an XR stage, we’re focused on getting every job right for every customer.”
Solstice AV company Director, Paul Midwood, added: “Mike brings a wealth of experience, deep product knowledge, and an authentic passion for service that perfectly aligns with our values. Backup Tech appoints new Chair
Backup Tech, the charity supporting those working behind the scenes in the entertainment technology industry, is delighted to announce the appointment of Lee Dennison as its new Chair. Lee, a Backup Trustee for 13 years, and orchestrator of the hugely popular annual Village Fete, has taken over the reins from Piers Shepperd, who has served as Chair for the past three years and a Trustee for a decade. He has been instrumental in implementing a highly successful structure behind the scenes, building on the foundations of his predecessor.
During his time at the charity, he has seen Backup continue to provide vital medical grants and address the challenges faced by today’s freelancers by increasing its initiatives around Wellbeing Support; including sharing industry initiatives that help improve awareness and foster more open communication about mental health, addition and recovery, and general wellbeing, as well as financial wellbeing. During his time as Chair, Piers also instigated the Ambassador and Partner programmes, implemented a new grant portal to improve the process for the grant committee, and introduced a limit on the time both the Trustees and the Chair can serve. “I did that for many reasons, a major one being that we understand that people’s time in valuable and, with mental health always in mind, we want to make sure no one becomes overwhelmed,” he says. “We also want to en-
sure we can bring in new, fresh perspectives to make sure Backup stays relevant as the industry continues to change and freelancers face new and different challenges. I have thoroughly enjoyed by time as Chair, and I’m proud that, collectively, we have continued to make a positive difference to the industry’s freelance community. I’m stepping down with mixed emotions as I’ll miss the camaraderie of the team and the joy of seeing when we’ve made a difference to people’s lives. But it’s time to hand over the reins and I know that Lee will do a sterling job of leading Backup into its next chapter.”
“As Piers Sheppard steps down as Chair of Backup, I want to take a moment to recognise the immense contribution he’s made,” says Lee. “When we lost John Simpson, Piers stepped in and helped shape the systems and processes that now ensure every support request is handled with professionalism, empathy - and speed. While we can’t take away the problem, Backup exists to ease the pressure through the support it offers. I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Piers for many years, most recently as Vice Chair. That shared continuity and passion is something I’m committed to carrying forward with our brilliant Trustees and Ambassadors. Backup has always been built by the industry, for the industry — and it’s our job to make sure it stays fit for purpose, ready to support those in the industry who need it most.”

Solid State Logic appoints Mark Skipper to National Sales Manager
Solid State Logic announces that it has appointed Mark Skipper to the position of National Sales Manager, Eastern U.S., where he is responsible for SSL Broadcast and Live solutions. In his new role, Skipper joins SSL’s USbased distributor, Group One Ltd. as part of expanding its business development and customer relationships, reporting to Rick Naqvi, Senior VP of USA Sales. Skipper, who is based in southern Virginia, brings more than two decades of broadcast and professional audio experience to his role. Prior to starting with SSL, he has been a recording studio owner and A1 sports mixer for top networks including NBC, ESPN, Fox, CBS and others. He is also experienced in music production as a classically trained violist who has performed and recorded with multiple chamber orchestras and musical ensembles.
In his new role at SSL, Skipper is looking forward to interfacing with customers and helping solve their problems in both the broadcast and live sound production realms: “Throughout my audio career, I've approached studio problem-solving through strong relationships with others... always building meaningful human connections and fostering a team culture that thrives on collaboration—now by leveraging SSL’s exceptional audio solutions for superb sonics for all to enjoy!”
Skipper's experience includes having handled Broadcast A1 duties mixing high profile sporting events including hockey, football, basketball, baseball and horse racing, among other sports. Solid State Logic consoles have been central in Skipper's audio world since his
first shot at mixing: “Over 20 years ago, when I was first introduced to surround sound mixing in Dolby, it was on an SSL 4000 G+ with a 2” tape machine in a post-production environment. Since then, I have always recognized using SSL is more than choosing an iconic brand name - customers around the world have deep associations with its magical sound that comes from a worldclass company.”
Speaking of the dynamic and evolving range of SSL Live and System T consoles, Skipper says that a key differentiator in the marketplace is SSL's custom Tempest Audio Processing Platform, which provides seamless AoIP routing directly from the console and powers the advanced internal Effects Rack, delivering studio-quality effects with industry-low latency. This enables users to adapt to modern workflows like broadcast cloud production, using their consoles with superior sound quality. He also cites the Live and System T series' extraordinary reliability and the knowledge and dependability of SSL's technical support team. “I am proud to be working alongside such an extraordinary team of professionals, making an audible difference in the productions of our customers.”

Demonstrating the power of the Network Effect, residential and commercial-grade AV, IT and security systems increasingly feature and utilize faster, stronger, and more secure network technologies. At CEDIA Expo/ Commercial Integrator Expo (CIX) taking place in Denver, network technologies - and their attendant complexities -will feature prominently on the exhibit floor and on the curriculum of panels and workshops. “The power of today’s audiovisual systems integration is bringing together a variety of components, sources and content that are controlled via an IP addressable network,” explains Jason McGraw, Group Vice President and show director of CEDIA Expo/CIX. “That’s the magic of systems integration and it’s how our community of integrators commands success by delivering a seamless, integrated experience for their customers. To serve this function, integrators need to deploy high-performing network technologies and highly evolved network best practices. CEDIA Expo/CIX is ground zero for both!”
“A lot of work has been invested into hardening home/
commercial networks,” McGraw continues. “Those innovations aren’t always apparent and the threats they protect against are rarely a problem until they’re a disaster. CEDIA Expo/CIX is an opportunity for integrators to learn about emerging technologies, emerging threats and new best practices. It’s also where they can ask questions, gain practical advice and acquire first-hand experience with network devices — business-critical information that cannot be sourced on a website or gleaned from a brochure.”
