sonho de infância que Rodrigo Hilbert Alberton tinha de cursar informática ou agronomia foi interrompido aos 17 anos por um olheiro no calçadão de Laguna (SC), enquanto ele comia um x-salada com os amigos nas férias de verão. Desde o episódio, já faz duas décadas que aquele adolescente de ascendência alemã e italiana deixou sua cidade natal, a pequena Orleans, com malas cheias de salame, queijo e pão de milho, rumo a São Paulo e ao glamour das passarelas e capas de revista. Mas o mundo luxuoso da moda e de grifes como Gucci e Versace não combinava com o jeito simples de Rodrigo (ou Dito, para os conterrâneos). Ele, então, resolveu mudar de rumo mais uma vez. “Fui para o Rio de Janeiro, procurei um curso de teatro e comecei a estudar. Em um ano, peguei meu primeiro papel na Globo (“Desejos de Mulher”, de 2002). Mas estava muito despreparado. Aceitei porque precisava de grana, tinha contrato”, lembra ele, em entrevista na suíte royal do Hotel Santa Teresa Rio MGallery By Sofitel – mesmo quarto onde se hospedou Amy Winehouse, em 2011. O catarinense de 1,92 metro, filho de uma professora e de um radialista, atuou em outras nove novelas da Globo, na série “Louco por Elas”, em três filmes e uma peça de teatro. Contracenou com Antonio Fagundes, Marília Gabriela, Giovanna Antonelli, e não cansa de se reinventar como profissional. Para Rodrigo, porém, a primeira grande virada na carreira veio em 2007, quando ele se arriscou em passos de tango, forró e lambada, e venceu o quadro Dança dos Famosos, do “Domingão do Faustão”. O troféu, segundo o próprio Faustão, serviu para quebrar o tabu de que homem alto não tem gingado. Mas o resultado foi fruto mais do empenho do que da habilidade de Rodrigo: “Cheguei lá sem saber nada, zero. Quase fui eliminado no primeiro dia, mas o Carmo Dalla Vecchia foi desclassificado por usar relógio e aí fiquei até o fim.” Naquela época, o ator também gravava a novela “Pé na Jaca” com Fernanda Lima, e foi a partir daí que eles não se desgrudaram mais. Econômico quando fala da esposa, “para não fazer propaganda”, Rodrigo diz que se inspira demais em Fernanda e conta com a ajuda dela também nas questões profissionais. “Ela é dedicada, estuda muito, tenho orgulho disso. E sempre me diz que, se quero alguma coisa, devo fazer de verdade, sabendo o que estou fazendo”, afirma o pai dos gêmeos João e Francisco, de 9 anos. Seguindo esse conselho, há quatro anos veio a segunda grande guinada no destino de Rodrigo: o programa “Tempero de Família”, no GNT.
SABORES FAMILIARES Sempre muito ligado às suas origens e à terra, Rodrigo voltou os olhos novamente para Santa Catarina e gravou lá, em 2013, a primeira temporada do programa. “Cresci vendo as mulheres da minha família cozinharem cuca, pão, bolinho de chuva. Com 12 anos, eu trabalhava como soldador na oficina do meu avô Haine, mas também finalizava o almoço que minha mãe havia deixado pré-pronto na noite anterior. Fritava os bifes, fazia arroz, amassava purê, colocava os pratos no forno. Meio-dia em ponto, tinha que estar tudo na mesa”, recorda. A cozinha de Rodrigo não é nada gourmet. A ideia é preparar refeições caseiras, regionais, com gosto de infância e ingredientes frescos e fáceis de encontrar. “A gente tirou um pouco dessa coisa da dificuldade, do medo de fazer um prato chique, muito arrumadinho.” Para ele, comida boa é aquela terminada em “ada”: macarronada, galinhada, churrascada. Aliás, macarrão com galinha ensopada é seu prato favorito, hoje adaptado com o “toque

RODRIGO HILBERT ALBERTON’S childhood dream of studying computing or agronomy was interrupted at the age of seventeen by a scout on the boardwalk of Laguna (Santa Catarina State), while he was eating a cheeseburger with his friends during his summer vacation. Since this episode, it has been already two decades that the German and Italian descent teenager left his hometown, the small town of Orleans, with suitcases full of salami, cheese and corn bread on his way to São Paulo and to the glamor of runways and magazine covers. But the luxurious world of fashion and designer brands like Gucci and Versace did not match the simple ways of Rodrigo (known as Dito by family and friends). He then decided to change his life course once again. “I went to Rio de Janeiro, searched for a drama school and started taking acting classes. Within a year, I got my first role on Globo TV (“Desejos de Mulher” or “Women Desire”, in English, in 2002). But I was very unprepared. I accepted it because I needed the money, I had a contract,” he recalls, in this interview that took place at the Hotel Santa Teresa Rio MGallery By Sofitel’s royal suite – the same room where Amy Winehouse stayed in 2011. The 6’3” tall Santa Catarina-born, son of a schoolteacher and a radio broadcaster, has appeared in nine other Globo TV soap operas, in the series “Louco por Elas” (“Crazy About Them”), in three movies and one play. He co-starred with Antonio Fagundes, Marília Gabriela, Giovanna Antonelli, and is always trying to reinvent himself in his professional life. For Rodrigo, however, his first major career turning point came in 2007, when he ventured into tango, forró and lambada steps, and won the Dança dos Famosos (Dancing with the Stars) competition on “Domingão do Faustão” (a famous Brazilian TV show). The trophy, according to the host, served to break the taboo that tall men cannot dance. But the positive result was more due to his hard work than to Rodrigo’s own dancing skills: “I got there knowing nothing, zero. I was almost eliminated on the first day, but Carmo Dalla Vecchia was disqualified for wearing a watch and I stayed there until the end.” At that time, the actor was also recording the soap opera “Pé na Jaca” with Fernanda Lima, and after that the couple didn’t let go of each other. Reserved when talking about his wife, because he doesn’t “want to advertise her,” Rodrigo says that he is very inspired by Fernanda and counts on her to help him with professional matters. “She is dedicated, she studies hard, I am proud of that. And she always tells me that if I want something, I must do it with intention, knowing well what I am doing,” says the father of the 9-year old twins João and Francisco. Following this advice, four years ago came the second great turn in Rodrigo’s life: the TV show “Tempero de Família” (“Family Seasoning”) broadcasted on GNT cable channel.
FAMILIAR FLAVORS Always closely attached to his origins and to the earth, Rodrigo turned his eyes back to Santa Catarina and recorded there the first season of the show, in 2013. “I grew up watching the women in my family baking Kuchen, bread, bolinho de chuva (Brazilian doughnuts). At the age of 12, I worked as a welder at my grandfather Haine’s workshop, but I had also to finish up the lunch my mother had left pre-cooked the night before. I used to fry steaks, cook rice, mash potatoes, and heat the dishes in the oven. At noon sharp, everything had to be on the table,” he recalls. Rodrigo enjoys cooking comfort food. The idea is to prepare home-cooked, regional meals that taste like childhood with fresh, easy-to-find ingredients. “We wanted to get rid of the idea that cooking is difficult, of people getting scared when preparing fancy dishes.” For him, good food is the one cooked to serve many people: pasta, chicken stew, barbecue. In fact, pasta with stewed chicken is his favorite dish, which was adapted with his own twist. “I always try
