Welcome of the President of the SEVC ‘07 Congress

Dear friend,

Welcome to the SEVC (Southern European Veterinary Conference). I would like to thank you for your interest in the SEVC on behalf of the executive committee and myself.

In AVEPA, we do always try to fulfil the aim of our mission:

“To provide first-class scientific and personal education for the veterinarians and their coworkers seeking the professional excellence and the improvement of animal welfare”.

AVEPA will organize every year a big continuing education event together with TNAVC (The North American Veterinary Conference) from October 2007 onwards. Our biggest assets come from the experience of both associations in the organization of events with a high scientific level and good social and cultural activities.

What’s the best of this new congress?

An attractive city that contains the essence of the Mediterranean

Selected dates in accordance to our climate

A comfortable and spacious venue placed just in front of the beach and perfectly connected to the heart of the city.

Countless first quality tourist and cultural attractions to complete an excellent social program.

What’s new in this congress?

Many simultaneous conference rooms for small animals and equine veterinarians and nurses. Never seen before in Europe.

Many practical workshops that will be carried out at the modern premises of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. There are many and countless reasons that make this congress a must, but we’ve summarized them: “You should seriously consider coming to this big event if you don’t want to regret not having been here when others tell you”.

Welcome of the President of AVEPA

The AVEPA-SEVC 2007 Congress, in its first international and 42nd national edition, means a big unprecedented qualitative advance that will provide the biggest scientific offer on small animal veterinary sciences in Europe.

This Congress aims not only for the interest of Spanish veterinarians but the veterinarians of the whole World. I think this poses a unique opportunity to improve our scientific and professional level and to increase the exchange of personal and veterinary professional experiences.

I am confident that the first edition of this new AVEPA-SEVC Congress will please everybody and that we will be able to improve it in the future thanks to the acquired experience in this first one. The offer is so extensive that it will be difficult to avoid the overlap of some lectures and, therefore, every person will have to plan its own Congress.

Moreover, the program has included a number of novel activities such as luncheons, limited assistance classes, or workshops with international acknowledged experts dedicated to those who want to go deeper into specific aspects of some areas of expertise. In short, we regard this as a great innovative educational bet and are confident that all this efforts will be worthwhile.

The answer will depend on the acceptance and satisfaction of the delegates and on the suggestions you may send to make it better every year.

Greetings

3

RAFAEL AMARGO

Rafael Amargo is eclectic either ways; as a dancer or as a choreographer. He had from his teachers the purest flamenco style, although he has cleverly assimilated any new conception of dance through the years, like the lessons he learnt at Martha Graham´s School during his stay in New York. Rafael Amargo´s choreographies overflow with both conceptions, perfectly matched on the stage: Tradition and Modernity. His choreographies are often closer to contemporary dance, but they never move further away from the starting point, the backgrounds: Flamenco.

Intimate

Intimate is a flamenco show by Rafael Amargo that reproduces the essential elements of this tradition and adds the contemporary view of the Choreographer.

After achieving great success with shows such as Poet In New York, Entamblao or DQ…Passenger in Transit, Rafael looks toward a show with no technological but choreographic and musical pretensiousness.

Intimate gathers its own meaning, is pure flamenco in its essence, completely free of unnecessary ornaments. Music and dance put at the service of the maximum expression of Flamenco.

Intimate was originally created for the “Flamenco Viene del Sur” season, organized by the Junta de Andalucía and because of it great success it was included within Rafael Amargo’s repertoire.
