In recent years, both practices and techniques applicable to pest management have undergone considerable change, and food industry operators are required to adopt pest management methods guided by a multitude of aspects and implications that, on the one hand, promote hygienic prevention, and, on the other hand, encourage research into alternative control methods to the use of chemical insecticides. Only a wide analysis of the context in which Italian food industries, and in particular the milling sector are called upon to export a large part of their production, can explain the need and importance of adopting new methods for controlling, combating and containing pests.
