KOPREGEL VOLGT DISRUPTIVE EVENTS NOG. MINOR PROGRAMME (INTER)NATIONAL DISASTER, MIGRATION AND RESILIENCE Our society is changing due to constant external events. In this 1/2 year multidisciplinary minor programme, you will acquire a broad overview of external events impacting society and discover how to respond and act. You will learn how to professionally deal with disruptive events in society, such as natural disasters, migration, terrorist attacks, and climate change.
OBJECTIVES
Each year more people are on the move because of disasters and conflict. Due to climate change, every year the number of disaster events is increasing and also the impact on society. Migration flows raise questions about terrorists in our society and in Europe this is a vivid topic of debate. Within and between cities, countries an increasing polarization is seen. You will familiarize and analyze the most common approaches and think about the resilience of societies.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
Gain experience in analysing complex challenges and providing sustainable solutions for international and national disaster contexts and become a leader in (disaster) risk and resilience with your own professional background! You will learn in different courses, through experiments, simulations, projects, field trips, lectures and literature.
• Provide students with a multidisciplinary background, methods and perspectives in order to design and manage integrated reliance strategies. • Bridge specific competencies about resilience with the need of the real world complexity and practices. • Allow students to become the future professionals able to address the complexity of disaster resilience.
This minor programme is framed around 2 modules and in total 11 courses of in total 30 ECTS. During the 2 modules you will learn to understand different types of events with a disruptive impact on society. In the first module, you will focus on natural disasters and learn to respond, aiming to reduce the impact of natural disasters in both a developing and western context. During this module you will learn to work with innovative tools and design, test and evaluate solutions in real life cases. In the second module, you will learn to understand the main European issues that have caused disruption in recent years: migration and migration-related issues.
