KOPREGEL VOLGT DISRUPTIVE EVENTS NOG. MINOR PROGRAMME (INTER)NATIONAL DISASTER, RESILIENCE AND CLIMATE CHANGE Our society is changing due to constant external events. In this 1/2 year multidisciplinary minor programme, you will acquire a broad overview of external events impacting nature and society, and discover how to monitor, respond and act. You will learn how to professionally deal with disruptive events in society, such as natural disasters and climate change. Visit our Facebook, LinkedIn and Insta profile. Each year more people are on the move because of disasters and conflict. Due to climate change every year the number of disaster events is increasing, causing migration. The resulting migration flows have impact on society. Within and between cities, countries an increasing polarization is seen. You will familiarize and analyze the most common approaches and think about the resilience of societies, as well as the resilience of nature. How can both nature and society deal with and recover from disaster events? To answer that question you need experience in analyzing complex challenges and providing sustainable solutions for international and national disaster contexts. This
knowledge and experience is offered in different courses, through experiments, simulations, projects, field trips, lectures, workshops and literature.
OBJECTIVES • Provide students with a multidisciplinary background, methods and perspectives in order to design and manage integrated reliance strategies. • Bridge specific competencies about resilience with the need of the real world complexity and practices. • Provide students with tools for environmental monitoring and spatial analysis and showcase their relevance for organizations / governments • Learn students how to communicate with stakeholders involved in the environmental multidisciplinary problem, in order to achieve a common goal. • Allow students to become the future professionals able to address the complexity of disaster resilience.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE This minor programme is framed around 2 modules comprising several courses of in total 30 ECTS. During the 2 modules you will learn to understand different types of events with a disruptive impact on society.
