MARKETS ON BAY
A Community Marketplace
Location: Bay Street Depot, Ultimo NSW
Year: 2024
The ongoing development and gentrification of glebe and ultimohas resultedina deprivation and lack of local participation of the local community in public spaces. The project aims to address the spatial inequity experienced by the people to accommodate for the growing development of glebe/ultimo.Setonthebaystreetdepot,theproject proposesamarketplacerunbythelocalcommunity for the local community, surrounding itself around the celebration of food, from buying and selling of fresh foods to the conception of food, dining together and the breaking down of food waste.
The public space of the project is important to the scheme of the project. The masterplan surrounds itself along two major axis ways, the north- south being the major food axis connecting Wentworth park to the neighbourhood pocket park on the south. And the east west axis being the goods axis connecting the residential buildings of the site where goods and waste are transported from one part of the site to the other.

OBSERVATIONS & REFLECTIONS AS A MEANS FOR CONNECTION
Education Centre on Bidgigal Country
Location: La Perouse, NSW Year: 2023
TheprojectproposesalearningcentreonBidgigal Country for the Indigigrow group where the centre istobeusedfortransferringofknowledgebetween human and Country. Country is taught through verbal demonstrations, visual forms, firsthand experiences, verbal teachings from elders and songs.Theprojectaimstosupportthewayinwhich theIndigirowteachesandlearnonCountry, through holisticexperienceswherestudentsandvisitorscan observe country firsthand as they observe it grow, thrive, propagateandbecaredfor.Thearchitecture actsasanobserveritself, asitdoesnotaimtoimpose on Country but rather provide adapt to Country.
The architecture as a quiet observer of Country and how She teaches us. Through the design process, the architecture aimed to understand its role on Country, and how it can be integrated into it. The architecture is treated as a user of Country as well as the other living things on Country. This, I believe, is the only sustainable way to build on Country though we cause harm to Her.
Through a constant process of observation and reflection, the architecture will be able to transcribe knowledge to students, visitors and younger Indigenous groups of people as it allows for education through first hand experiences.experiencesthatarenotfaraway fromusbutofwhichwehavelivedmemoriesof.

MappingAs AToolforUnderstanding
The map shows the different soil makeup of the site, following First Nations principle in mapping where it is devoid of strata lines and rules, but of the flora and fauna of the Country. By mapping out the soil makeup, I gained further understanding of Country and where plants sit on. Through that, important decisions could be make about, the placement of the education centre and how to the architecture can sit seamlessly on Country.

Open areas can be used as discussion places, meeting places, places of demonstration, talks or performing spaces
The timber frames have ridges that will act as plug in devices for timber slabs, adapting to different functions and uses of the space.
Indigigrow staff is able to participate in the design process constantly as the space changes based on the changing demands of it.
Kinetic systems of canvas cloth is used to protect the open space from weather conditions and to allow for changing in privacy settings.
