OUR STORY

Symonds at Redwood is a contemporary restaurant and bistro concept, brimming with British charm and sophistication. Sink into sumptuous leather chairs in our main dining room and prepare your palate for the best in locally-sourced ingredients; all expertly-prepared by our resident chef. Menus are refreshed regularly to incorporate local variety. Fresh, seasonal dishes are meticulously-presented with the utmost care for the flavour profile of every bite. The bright and stylish venue is nestled in the sublime Audley Redwood village in Failand just minutes from Clifton and Bristol city centre. It has several unique spaces to accommodate a wide range of intimate events from business meetings to engagement parties.

Symonds at Redwood boasts several stunning and exclusive spaces. Our private dining room is perfect for important business meetings and intimate family gatherings. Its plush seating and modern, boardroom table are complemented by floor-to-ceiling feature glass in warm, wood surrounding walls. In the main dining & bistro area; delight your event attendees with immaculately-presented seated dinners or bustling canape receptions. Bright, white-panelled walls contrast beautifully with rich leather and suede seating to provide the perfect backdrop for our fresh, seasonal menu.

LOCATION

Symonds at Redwood is located in the town of Failand. While a rural village, Failand is just minutes from Clifton and wider Bristol. The town actually consists of two parts - the historic, original village is called Lower Failand or Fayland. The village has a rich sporting culture. It is home to the training ground for Bristol City Football Club, its own cricket club and two golf courses. Popular local food and drink; many which feature on our seasonal menus, include Bath Ales, Harvey’s Bristol Cream Sherry, Cheddar from Cheddar Gorge and smoked meats from the award-winning, Chew Valley Smokery.

HISTORY

Symonds at Redwood is a stone’s throw from Ashton Court Mansion House. Once home to the Smyth family, the Grade I listed estate has been a manor since the 11th century. It has lived many lives as a venue for the Royal Show, a WW1 army hospital and WW2 army transit camp. The grounds are now host to a historic park consisting of over 850 acres designed by Humphry Repton - the last great landscape designer of the 18th century. Vast swathes of woodland and grassland hide many secrets to explore from magnificent old oak trees to the ancestors of deer that first roamed the Fallow Deer Park over 600 years ago. This secret wood is only ten minutes from Bristol and yet, largely unknown.

It also allows our corporate guests flexibility around itinerary beyond that of a more traditional daytime event.

Afternoon Tea

Enjoy a great British culinary tradition in a luxurious setting. Our chefs carefully arrange the finest local ingredients into a scrumptious Afternoon Tea fit for royalty.

A selection of finger sandwiches served on white or brown bread:

• Honey roast ham, mature cheddar and onion marmalade

• Scottish oak smoked salmon with horseradish cream

• Free-range egg mayonnaise and cress

• Cucumber and dill cream cheese with mustard seeds

Freshly baked scones served with strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream

Seated Meal

SETUP & FLOORPLANS

The event team will customise the layout of our spaces to meet the requirements of your event wherever possible. Some arrangements are more suited to larger events, so please allow the on-site team to provide recommendations on the table layout and seating for your function. Listed here are the capacity limits for the many arrangements available.

Boardroom - Private Dining Room: 14

The boardroom style is an ideal setup for collaborative meetings, brainstorming sessions, private dinners and small family events. This plan allows for easy conversation with all seated.

Theatre Style - Restaurant: 40

A preferred arrangement for seminar or performance events, theatre style allows participants a clear view of a central speaker who can easily interact with all members of the audience.

Standing Reception - Restaurant: 80

A standing arrangement offers the most open-plan option and is best suited to networking and party events where lively conversation is desired. In this arrangement, waitstaff thread through event-goers offering canapés and refreshments.

Hollow Square - Restaurant: 24

Ideal for business dinners with many attendees, the hollow square places all attendees on equal footing. Consisting of tables arranged in a square pattern with an open centre, this arrangement is perfect for plated service.

Classroom Style - Restaurant: 48

Featuring a panel table similar to traditional banquet style, the audience is arranged horizontally, not perpendicular. This layout is ideal for training sessions and seminars for large groups.
