OUR STORY

The Clevedon at Ben Rhydding is a modern restaurant and bistro concept that combines the best of British produce with contemporary culinary techniques to delight the palate. The Clevedon offers picturesque dining in the heart of the West Yorkshire countryside. Surround yourself in luxury while enjoying fresh, seasonal menus in a modern, pastel-accented restaurant. The stunning Wharfe Valley scenery provides the perfect backdrop for our modern British cuisine. Our in-house team is committed to sourcing local produce and fresh farm cuts to create dishes that celebrate England’s larder. Enjoy new twists on old favourites in a stunning country setting.

The Clevedon at Ben Rhydding boasts several luxurious and exclusive spaces. Our private dining room is perfect for entertaining clients and reconnecting with family. Its plush seating and modern decor is complemented by pristine views of our manicured lawn. In the main dining area; delight your event attendees with immaculately-presented three course meals or bustling canape receptions. Soft, creme walls pair perfectly with powder blue accents to provide a delightful setting for the best of modern British cuisine. In the summer months, enjoy fresh BBQ prepared on our outdoor terrace overlooking the landscaped grounds.

LOCATION

The Clevedon at Ben Rhydding is located in the village of Clevedon. The house is set within a 23-acre estate in Ben Rhydding, just two miles from Ilkley. Ben Rhydding is a historic village, formerly known as Wheatley. Renowned in the late1800s for a hydrotherapy establishment, all that now remains of that history is a golf course in its place. A mostly residential town, there are a few shops and amenities. Many people live in the village and commute into Bradford or Leeds for work. Each summer, hundreds flock to the nearby Ilkley’s Lido; built in 1935, one of only four public outdoor pools in Yorkshire. Local beer is quite popular, with Ilkley Brewery and Wharfedale Brewery crafting great brews nearby.

HISTORY

The Clevedon at Ben Rhydding is adjacent to the Ben Rhydding Golf Club, the lasting legacy of the mega-hotel founded in response to the hydro-therapy craze of the late 1800s. The Mayor of Leeds credited ‘taking the waters’ with improving his health, so he commissioned a huge hotel dedicated to the practice. Ben Rhydding Hydro soon added a golf course to its list of amenities and was successful for many years until World War II. The hotel was taken over by the Wool Control Board and simply never reopened. It was demolished in 1955 and the raw materials were used to build homes nearby. Thankfully, the golf course still remains so visitors can get a feel for the grandeur of times past.
