The laptop shelf replacing the rostrum. Where should I place my laptop when I do not have a rostrum? This question was highlighted when we participated in the design of conference rooms for Swedbank's new headquarters in Solna. New working methods require new interior design solutions that integrate with the technology of modern activity-based offices. To answer this need, we developed a brand new and

ingenious solution. The laptop shelf integrated into the writing board. The foldable shelf is stored behind the whiteboard, in case of our model DesignLine with dash display, otherwise directly under the board. Want to try the shelf? The Order No. is 16056. Please call 0118 966 8383 for pricing.

Connecto HD Web USB 2.0 For a video meeting to be able to replace a physical meeting, a sense of presence, similar to that of the physical meeting, is required. We had this in mind when we developed our camera Connecto HD Web USB 3.0. At the time we did not understand that we were a year or two too early. Most users do not have computers capable of USB 3.0. Therefore, we now have the honor of presenting the first real WebCam with video quality for USB 2.0. The performance is essentially the same as for the USB 3.0 camera, the sense of presence as well. To really understand what this means it has to be experienced and compared with the alternatives. In our exhibition in Stockholm, we have built a demo unit so that everybody can experience the difference for themselves, before taking an investment decision.

OFFER! Try Connecto HD Web free for a month! The full Microsoft Office 365, with Lync, is included in the trial period!

We compare our Connecto HD Web USB 2.0 and 3.0 with, among others, Jared Logitech's latest Webcam CC3300 - Conference Cam. The choice becomes quite easy. Come and compare for yourself! The question we often get is "Why is your solution so much better?". The answer is quite simple. Our solution is based on a SONY camera with optical as well as digital zoom which produces an almost perfect web video picture. This is as close as you can get today to professional video quality with a web solution.

On top of that, additional performance as: • • • • • • • • • •

Plug and play – Connect and go! HD 720p. 30 images per second. Horizontal angle of 90-30 degrees = covers the entire room without pan-tilt function. SONY Exmor-sensor. Automatic focus. Uncompressed video stream. Controllable via RS 232. 3X optic zoom. Embedded design (Size together with wide angle makes it possible to build the camera into a writing board. See example in operation "Near and Far" on page 6). The camera is Microsoft Windows 7 and 8-certified. Approved in accordance with standards EN55024 and EN 55022.

Activity-Based Meeting Rooms

The Working Methods of the Next Generation!

Is it possible to design an activity-based meeting room with "extra everything" at 4x4 meters that fits into the new mindset of the designers? The answer is: Yes!

We have seen the future of activity-based, effective and flexible solutions.

The Room

Working Methods

Examples

16 square meters is of course just an example. It shows that it is possible to create a creative meeting room that fits into a task-based environment, even on a relatively small surface area. What does activity-based approach really mean? We would offer this as a free definition: Work wherever you are, not just where your desk is.

Working together with others of course has different meanings depending on what kind of activity we are talking about. Starting out from different approaches, we create what is needed for a unique environment and its work method.

To make things easier we have created several examples of environments. On the next page, you find two possible solutions: "Far and near," and "For what you have on your mind." On our website we have additional examples that may be helpful when you plan your creative work environment. If you want more help we can of course create a creative environment for your unique approach.

To create an environment in harmony with the right approach requires a needs analysis conducted at an early stage which highlights the following questions: • What will we do in the room? • How do we want to work? • What tools do we want to be able to use in the room? Possible functions and solutions could be • Write on the whiteboard. • Write on the flip chart. • Flexible environment with for example AV-rails. • Remote meetings via web or video conferencing. • Outlet and control possibilities in table for easy operation. • Interactive solution. These are just a few examples, the list can be made much longer.

Welcome to limitless meeting. Here is the meeting room you don't have to go to, but still get to participate in. In the writing board on the front wall to the right we have an inset picture for the remote participants. Below the screen is an integrated camera enabling you to participate irrespective of where in the world you are. The camera is developed for exactly this kind of meeting, and it is the first in its kind on the market. It fits of course for any type of web-based remote meeting solutions. This makes it easy to participate even if you are only equipped with a smartphone or tablet. Besides the nifty detail that it is built into the whiteboard, it is also fitted with special optics and a sensor from Sony that allows you to see the entire meeting room and every participant without having to worry about panning or tilting the camera. The image quality helps to create a more natural and successful meeting than would be the

The rear wall seen from inside the room.

More about our solution: case with a regular webcam. One of the secrets is that it we use USB 3.0, which means that the image signal is not compressed in so many steps. On the opposite wall, to the left in the picture, there is a ordinary whiteboard to be used by people on location and that even remote participants can see.

The chairs, called Spirit, are from Bombastik Attitude. They are drawn by Norwegian designer Helge Leikanger. According to him this chair would suit Tina Turner very well. You can find it in our showroom in Skarpn채ck. Feel free to visit and see what you have in common with Tina Turner.

The blackout sunshades in the windows help to control the light in the room so that the quality of the meeting will be perfect for remote participants.

The table is also from Bombastik Attitude and is called Fantastic. It is a so-called flip-table. You can tilt the table surface for efficient storage. You can also order it with Connecto Pro Image recessed into the table surface or with writing board surface.

The chairs have wheels making it easier to always be in the right place and focus on what is important to you.

The writing board on the wall to the left is a frameless DesignLine with matching orange border. It is integrated in the AV-bar with orange decor. Behind the writing board with the built-in display you can see our new laptop shelf - read more about it on page 2 in this issue of IMAGE.

Welcome to the good conversation. Here, the focus is on conversation and information. A cosy room for counselling, consultation or a really progressive performance appraisal. The chairs are arranged so that the participants mainly focus on each other. To satisfy the need to express ourselves as well as possible within the given conditions, we have placed a writing board on the back wall. A screen is placed on the front wall to show films, information or presentations.

More about our solution: for 'activity based working', you are absolutely correct). The blackout protection in the windows match the general colouring and also helps to keep down the temperature on hot days. It makes sure that nobody is blinded by the sun and hinders distracting lights and reflections on the screen. Comfortable chairs and an inspiring colour scheme helps to create the perfect atmosphere for important meetings.

On the AV-bar X-Line, decorated with red lacquer, hangs a brochure rack for printed material that our visitors can take home to browse at leisure.

The chairs are from Bombastik and named "Stealth". The table comes from their series Spirit. The whiteboard on the wall to the left is a frameless DesignLine with red lacquered border. The brochure stand X-Line can hold up to 12 different publications in A4 format. It has double compartments so it can also take large A3's. It hangs on an A-list X-Line with a red lacquered aluminium décor. The monitor is a 55 inch SONY. It hangs on AudicomPendax´s new custom made wall bracket Basic. The ducting to the screen is hidden inside the wall. Contact us for more information about all other accessories available for the smart AV-rail. For example shelves that hold lots of binders, illumination, flip charts, bulletin boards, clamps, hooks and much more.

The AV-rail can easily be expanded with more brochure stands or other accessories as needed, for example a shelving system. One can also easily move the AV-rail mounted products to another room with AV rail, when needed. (If you are thinking that the AV-rail must be good

Projection Surface BIG Where in the UK can you buy a giant made to measure projection screen? The answer is AudicomPendax. Based in Reading we are the UK arm of the Swedish manufacturer, and are proud of our manufacturing facility based in Stockholm which gives us the ability and flexibility to manufacture all types and sizes of screens and cover –ups, fixed frame as well as scrollable. We manufacture all types and sizes of projection screens and cover-ups, fixed frame as well as scrollable. We also offer combined projection and dimming solutions that we manufacture ourselves. "Special" means standard to us. If you put high demands on picture quality, a Fixed Frame Projection Screen is the right choice for you; the projection will be reproduced with absolute best quality. That is why movie theaters always use fixed frame projection.

welder so that it becomes big enough. In the weld, the two materials are pressed together and a high frequency signal "spurs" the molecules on, which makes the material hot and knit into a very strong bond. Then the projection screen is stretched on a frame. When the units are too large to be transported and can't get in through the door they are built and assembled on location. The image's projection surface is eight meters wide and four meters high. Do you want to know more about what we can do for you? Do not hesitate to ask - the question is always free.

Our large projection screens called BIG are manufactured and assembled in a special manner. Firstly, the screen material often needs to be welded together using a special high-frequency

Ongoing Projects most common meeting rooms are equipped with short throw projectors, that project the image directly on a whiteboard. Also, a larger multi hall can be used with its whole surface for larger events, alternatively divided into two or three smaller rooms. Everything has been planned with focus on simplicity combined with unique needs and "value for money".

OMX, as we call it in everyday speech, is located in Värtahamnen in Stockholm. This is a comprehensive facility that we built 10 or so years ago and that continuously undergoes face lifting. Now it is the auditorium's turn, where we will replace the current image display via back projection with traditional front projection. We will build on location a large fixed frame projection screen with dimensions 450x275 cm. So large a projection unit cannot be brought into the room, hence it is built on location. Since OMX puts high demands on both function and quality, we will install Sony's latest addition on the projector market, namely a 7000 ANSI-lumen strong laser projector. It will be the first of model of this kind installed in Europe, which means that Sony, OMX and AudicomPendax really are the first with new technology.

The Microsoft Event Was a Success!

Winners of the Microsoft Business Card Contest!

1st prize - Lars Lindberg, Tieto Swedeb, Plantronics Blackwire C420 M Headset. 2nd prize - Joel Funk, Miroi E-Learning, Headset from Jabra. 3rd prize - Stefan Elm, NCC AB, Plantronics Blackwire 720 Headset. We thank Microsoft for the generous awards.

On April 3 we, to create interest, carried out an event with Microsoft that went very well. Interest in tomorrow's working is strong today. Virtually all organizations are talking about it. That Microsoft has dramatically accelerated this trend is quite clear, and the reason is Office 365, that with its video meetings via Lync turns traditional values upside down. • Microsoft Lync takes over video conferencing? • Open or closed video conferencing systems? These were two of the questions that Andreas on Microsoft and our own Lars Sjödin illuminated for the over 100 participants. Besides, Epson launched their first interactive projector with touch function - see separate article on page 3.

Next Event, preliminarily on September 18, will be a SONY-day with several exciting new launches. We will get back to you with an invitation by the end of August.

Kramer was also present with their new wireless signal transfers. Bombastik Attitude informed the listeners that the future of office design has to be integrated with technology if the users are to benefit from tomorrows solutions optimally.

The Working Methods of the Next Generation Video Conferencing or Web Meetings? Most people agree that we need to change our work approach in order for the Earth to survive. One of the ways of doing that is to reduce travelling, by having video conferences instead. This gives quick and positive effects on our environment. With Microsoft Office 365 and Lync, Microsoft has "rocked the boat" of all those who work with traditional video conferencing and invigorated what one would consider obvious, if there are to be alternatives to travel, namely: Open systems or closed systems? Docks/ Bridges of one´s own or the Cloud? The ability to communicate with each other regardless of device type? What image quality do I need and how do the various systems differ? What does it cost and is it easy to use? Since Microsoft, as usual, thinks in new ways, most of the obstacles in traditional video conferencing have been eliminated. The likely result of this is that video

meetings will be taken for granted, and development will go fast. "What will the traditional video producers and providers do?" is at the time of this writing an open question. Our guess is that the old adage “If you can´t beat them - join them” will apply. What is it then that Microsoft has done and will do that leads to this development? Microsoft has created a system that is economically convenient if you have Office and also simple to use. They leave it to others to adapt products to their system which means that supply is fully open and competitive throughout. Launched later this year will be the possibility to communicate directly with all sorts of other systems such as Cisco, Polycom, Sony and others. In practice this means that video conferencing will be open systems. Also, Lync is constructed so that you don't even need to have the system downloaded to your computer in order to communicate with others. You will simply be invited to participate in a meeting. After saying yes, the road is clear for a virtual meeting.

only critical point with Lync, if you don´t select a camera that can handle your needs. The usual web cams do not live up to a picture quality that can compete with traditional video conferencing.

However we get very close with our latest product, see separate article on Connecto HD Web USB 2.0 on page 4. Do you want to try video meetings via Microsoft Lync, maybe compare image quality with traditional video conferencing? Call Lars Sjödin at 0704953003 or mail him at lars.sjodin@aupx. com.
