About our Zine

Throughout these pages you will find highlights from the 2024-2025 Academic Year. We begin with reflections of personal growth from the IDEA Team; followed by an overview of the IDEA Scholar projects. Next we’ll share a recap of programming, events, and feedback from the community, and end with a sneak peak at the year ahead.

Service, connection, and inclusion

have been the heartbeat of the IDEA Office in 2024-25. We remained steadfast in our commitment to community, witnessing its power to transform challenges into opportunities for growth and understanding.

Through collaborative initiatives with Watts' students, staff, faculty, and community partners, we have fostered environments where meaningful connections thrive, and inclusion is not just an aspiration but a practiced reality. The IDEA Scholars led projects that inspire change and reflect our shared commitment to creating equitable spaces. Anchored in these principles, driven by love, and guided by the courage to embrace inclusion in all its forms, we extend heartfelt gratitude to our community partners and collaborators, whose unwavering support fuels our commitments.

Together, we continue to build a vibrant, resilient community, where every voice is heard, and every individual is valued. Community will continue to be the solution and our strength, as we remain unmoved in our dedication to service, connection, and inclusion.

2024-2025 Programming

Watts IDEA Office provided over 76 hours of programming, engaged 345 participants across 23 event and training opportunities. We awarded 3 new mini-grants, supported 4 graduate IDEA scholars, gave away over 100 free tickets to ASU Gammage Beyond series, and consulted with our Watts community on inclusive practice. We also started our newsletter which is distributed monthly since October 2024.

Collaborate. Create. Cultivate.

This year we created a zine to share resources both on and off campus, for the Watts Community.

I’m looking forward to sharing the final product. The process was a practice in slowing down, releasing expectations, and letting the art lead.

I appreciate everyone who supported and contributed to this project! Special shoutout of thanks to our facilitator Charissa with Wasted Ink Zine Distro. We hope this is the start of future collaborations!

Not Perfection

You Can’t Steal My Shine

Like an onion, I kept peeling back layers, and surprising myself over and over More often than not, I was pretty happy with what I found

There’s been a lot; some moments shared, some kept private. But being an IDEA scholar? That’s the one I’m most grateful for. It gave me direction in ways I didn’t even know I was searching for.

music kept me grounded :)
Learning to live with h d or open...
