NON-PROFIT & SOCIAL IMPACT ANNUAL REPORT 2 0 2 4

NON-PROFIT & SOCIAL IMPACT ANNUAL REPORT 2 0 2 4
More than ever, it’s about collaborative actions
This past year, trust and dialogue have become more important than ever With polycrisis challenges becoming increasingly tangible, and 50 countries (covering half of the world’s population) heading to polls, a lot of attention has gone to (need for) democracy, human aid, climate efforts, health, education, information and more This resulted (and still results) in heavy pressure on local efforts and international alliances
Despite the solid reality, many organizations across the impact spectrum have taken (extra) steps to accelerate their journey and grow collaborations, contributing to a space where bold solutions and practical action contribute to societal progress It’s this very plurality of view points and exchanges that fuels learnings-based ideas and progress
At asUgo, we have noticed a comparable activity amongst large and small organisations While the geographical span of our social profit clients covers now 4 continents and more than 130 countries, activities supporting local impact remain very present
In 2024, organizations counted on asUgo for more than digital or, now also, AI Experience exchange, ideation and human guidance were an important part of our collaborations, together with technology It allows to go even further in growing impact
Jürgen Janssens Director asUgo, Head of Non-Profit & Social Impact
For our new clients, adopting a CRM marked the first step towards collaborative data capabilities, enabling:
Enhanced collaboration
Expanded impact opportunities
Informed decision-making
Increased transparency and fairness
Both new and existing clients found that combining technology with human insight unlocked complementary internal and external possibilities
Depending on their unique traits, organizations leveraged this to inform, create opportunities, support projects, or activate communities
Our Annual Report provides a snapshot of this year’s collaborations (the DNA of the organisations, and a zoom on activity and impact) It also keeps the pulse on a series of evolutions and trends Most importantly, the report leaves room for the Community In the end, it is about people People crafting ideas, taking actions and driving change – together
At asUgo, we are passionate about helping companies to enable start-up/scale-up mindset when addressing complex challenges, complex organizations, complex architectures with agility as an obsession We help large and international groups to start new projects, new business lines (and even new brands) with #value as unique objective
The key to the success of asUgo lies in our unique blend of strong company culture, consultancy expertise, technical capabilities and extra agility The combination of these elements sets us apart from other Salesforce consulting companies and enables us to deliver exceptional quality of services to our clients

Gaëtan Mondet Managing Director at asUgo
Blaise Managing Director at asUgo
Congratulations on reaching the milestone of supporting 50 non-profits internationally! How do you feel about this achievement?
Gaëtan: We feel incredibly humbled and proud This milestone reflects the dedication of our team, led by people like Jurgen, who work tirelessly to make an impact It’s powerful to see how our efforts help improve lives It’s not about numbers; it’s about the humans behind those numbers
Julien: From day one, we knew we wanted asUgo to make a societal impact Seeing this vision come to life with so many organizations and people is truly fulfilling But 50 is just a starting point It’s both a goal and a reminder to keep pushing forward in this direction
To what extent has this been part of the asUgo DNA from the beginning? How has it evolved over time?
Julien: Building bridges has always been central to our mission. The idea is embedded in asUgo’s culture – to create connections that allow us to serve both the private and public sectors While our reach has expanded, the foundation has stayed the same: bringing meaningful human connections into everything we do
Gaëtan: Absolutely We’ve also refined our approach over the years, aiming to become more efficient, particularly given budget constraints and the increasing needs of those we serve The commitment to “not reinvent the wheel” and instead be adaptive and efficient has helped us sustain this vision
To what extent has this been part of the asUgo DNA from the beginning? How has it evolved over time?
Julien: Gaëtan is great at making things happen His mantra – “say what you do, do what you say” – resonates throughout our work He has this ability to bring ideas to life in a human, grounded way.
Gaëtan: For Julien, I’d say it’s his resilience When faced with challenges, he always finds a spark of inspiration to push forward That drive is contagious, and it’s been a huge part of our journey
What have you learned from the asUgo team over the years that contributed to this milestone?
Gaëtan: One example that comes to mind is the Uganda project Seeing people displayed such intrinsic motivation to do good –despite the distance – is inspiring This dedication to creating positive change, even under challenging circumstances, is something that defines asUgo
Julien: There’s a unifying power in working toward a cause, especially with non-profit projects The asUgo team’s commitment to each project’s mission brings everyone together, overcoming any obstacles with a shared purpose It’s inspiring and strengthens our culture
Gaëtan: Personally, I dream of sharing our skills even further, where asUgo partners more deeply with certain nonprofits I envision us contributing directly to their initiatives, possibly through learning, development, or hands-on collaboration It’s about making a closer, more direct impact
Julien: My vision is to keep using technology as a platform for growth –not just for the people we serve but for everyone involved in the projects I believe in leveraging our expertise to bring new skills, perspectives, and opportunities to those we collaborate
with, helping them grow along with us.
How do you envision the role of AI in the non-profit sector, particularly in asUgo’s initiatives?
Julien: asUgo is a strong believer in what Agentforce and AI in general can bring to people If AI is applied ethically, it can streamline operations so that organizations can focus on their mission rather than administrative tasks Our goal is to use AI as a means to simplify and support – not replace – human interactions
Gaëtan: I like the term “augmented intelligence” over “artificial intelligence” because, in this context, AI should support human efforts rather than lead them It’s about bringing technology in to enhance what’s already there
As they look to the future, Julien and Gaëtan are committed to furthering impact together with the entire asUgo team and the social impact community. This milestone marks a proud moment, but as they both agree, it’s just one of many steps in the journey to build bridges and support humanity
asUgo goes #beyond just being a #Salesforce ecosystem company We admire #curiosity and cultivate a unique environment where technical skills, human-centered design and strategic thinking unite to drive real business #value

To create awareness on interdependence of problems, asUgo organized an internal Climat Fresk workshop, with a coach from GoodPlanet Belgium.
It continued to trigger discussions and ideas way beyond the session itself. It’s an eye opener that we advise to everyone! - asUgo Team
In 2024 the biggest growth was the support for SDGs 1, 3, 4, 13 and 15
It is a know tradition The month of May is a special one for the Belgian Non-Profit & Social Impact sector Fans and volunteers join for the 20 km of Brussels or for the OXFAM Trailwalker These gatherings spark sportive excitement, create good memories, and generate welcome extra donations. While this has again been the case this year, 2024 has been extra sportive!
A spotlight on some energizing initiatives from organisations asUgo is working with: Foundation against Cancer (with their Relays for Life), the Belgian Cardiological Ligue (with their cardio campaigns and the patronage by Team Belgium), and the King Baudouin Foundation / Myriad Alliance (that launched a special fund for the World Olympians Association)
Relay for Life, by the Foundation against Cancer, unites communities to fight cancer, honor survivors, and raise funds Volunteers in Belgium host events, including a 24-hour relay Proceeds support cancer research and well-being projects. In 2024, over 30 Relays were held

In 2024, the King Baudouin Foundation and Myriad Alliance partnered with the World Olympians Association (WOA) to launch an International Friends Fund. This new initiative helps Olympians continue their impactful work in society after their athletic careers
Many Olympians want to give back to their communities, both for the general good and often with a particular focus on sport Through this fund, the foundation enables global donations to support of their philanthropic efforts
The collaboration of KBF with the WOA, and its partners from Myriad USA, Myriad Canada, Myriad Australia and Give2Asia aligns the mission at KBF By leveraging philanthropic instruments, they can channel generosity towards impactful projects that Olympians champion Whether it’s fostering unity in Cyprus, combating childhood obesity in The Gambia, promoting active lifestyles in Lithuania, or supporting vulnerable children in Chile, these initiatives exemplify the Olympic spirit’s potential to transcend ethnic, religious, and social differences

Across Europe, fundraising organisations are facing oscillating private and corporate giving patterns. At the same time, the number of foundations continues to grow relentlessly Each organisation and/or subsector has thus clear challenges, evolutions and opportunities To support these dynamics, asUgo also looks proactively at evolutions from the sector at large, in complement of the rich day-to-day exchanges
The down-to-earth goal is to feel what’s ahead, understand what is living, and think proactively ahead
Some of the key topics are discussed more in detail, along with a trend synch: an indication of the extent to which current asUgo clients are already turning these changes into an opportunities. In the end, the ambition remains to find workable solutions, enabled by technology and/or guidance on organizational, process or human matters.
Across Europe, fundraising organisations are facing oscillating private and corporate giving patterns. At the same time, the number of foundations continues to grow relentlessly Each organisation and/or subsector has thus clear challenges, evolutions and opportunities To support these dynamics, asUgo also looks proactively at evolutions from the sector at large, in complement of the rich day-to-day exchanges.
Fueled by Mackenzie Scott’s grant initiatives, organizations worldwide are exploring trust-based giving While still grounded in data-driven screening, there's a trend toward supporting unrestricted grants. Advocates favor fewer conditions, while others stress setting goals and measuring progress Striking a balance may be key
Exploration ongoing amongst grant giving clients Number of experiments expected to increase in 2025
Corporate giving is evolving in Europe, with some areas slowing but a rise in corporate foundations and matching programs Research shows employees may give more when employers match donations, highlighting strong potential
Impact investing allocates funds to achieve social or environmental benefits along with financial returns NGOs and foundations have explored this for years, with support from groups like Philea developing tools to aid in its use
Learning topic for non-profit clients with >50 FTEs Expected to remain stable in 2025 (few early adopters) On the radar of non-profits with proactive fundraising Expected to remain stable in 2025
The Payment Service Provider (PSP) landscape has rapidly evolved, with new pricing models, embedded services, and products like giving pages and P2P options While promising, this growth demands clear guidance on technology and value propositions
On the radar of many nonprofit clients with proactive fundraising initiatives Expected to grow in 2025
Creating social impact is often associated with incoming or outgoing funds. More and more, organisations will (need to) look at complementary tools: collecting and connecting data, exploring internal or external insights and reinforcing human capabilities While less top-of-mind of the general public, these activities are well on their way to become standard parts of the toolbox.
Targeted guidance through coaching, organizational design, networks, and collaborations can accelerate value, with or without financial support The goal is to foster capital activation and lasting impact, now a core element of impact frameworks
Important subject for grant giving clients
Expected to remain stable in 2025
There's a push to build knowledge bases that transcend assumptions, focusing on cross-sector insights and trends. These data-driven resources aim to evaluate programs, shape initiatives, share learnings, and foster collaborative synergies
Growing tendency amongst non-profit clients with > 20 FTEs
Expected to increase in 2025
8
Volunteers play a vital role in large nonprofits, contributing to events, fundraising, and word-ofmouth efforts Organizations are now focusing on integrating volunteer tools to support a datadriven approach, gaining insights and optimizing workloads
Key for non-profits with >50 FTEs and many volunteers
Expected to grow further in 2025
With declining individual support and rising recruitment costs, organizations must prioritize supporter care and retention This requires blending human guidance with technology to enhance the experience, creating new personas and phygital, omnichannel journeys
Growing tendency amongst non-profit clients with > 10 FTEs
Expected to increase in 2025
While it was already actively used as enabler by research centers, corporations and technology afficionados, AI has done a huge jump forward in the public sphere in the last two years It has even become one of the major societal hot topics. This last year, further jumps forward have been taken with Agentforce and discussions on concrete use cases where AI can help.
The 2024 European Nonprofit Pulse reveals growing interest in AI, with 50% of respondents showing cautious optimism and a desire to learn more While some seek further guidance, 13% are excited and already leveraging AI (see details in the box)
At asUgo, we’ve taken proactive steps Past nonprofit discussions focused on traditional AI or informal exchanges about generative AI
In 2024, we partnered with trailblazing nonprofits to deliver AI awareness sessions, hands-on exercises, and practical use case exploration with Salesforce and other technologies
Nonprofit leaders are now turning their enthusiasm into action, often outpacing traditional corporations in innovation
The trend of "Ecosystem Scaling" among NGOs and foundations, highlighting two approaches: organization-driven actions, such as events and research, and ecosystem synergies that foster cross-sector collaboration While activity synergies are emerging in sectors like climate and health, funding collaborations are still in their early stages.
14 | ECOSYSTEM SCALING
Actions taken by NGOs and foundations can have different levels of collaborative ripple effects As indicated below, some are clearly more driven by (and focused on) the organisation itself, while others aim at reaching impact through a more collaborative engagement Often sparked by shared visions between people, they can be smoothened by technological accelerators, data insights and strategic guidance While still in its early days, there is a growing trend towards blended impact

Early stage for non-profits active in funding
Expected to remain stable in 2025
In designing for systems change, groups can focus on events to activate the deeper layers in society. Identifying causes and effects at deeper levels often leads to funding different types of interventions. As explained by the Shifting Systems Initiative (Ford Foundation, Skoll Foundation, Chandler Foundation, Jasmine, Porticus, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors):
“Impacting a complex challenge requires cumulative, mutually reinforcing change at multiple levels, including niche innovation, systems, culture, and landscape.
In essence, linear or traditional responses that focus on one component will only solve symptoms of the underlying issue. An integrated approach goes beyond the linear and combines different levels. The Iceberg Model framework helps to better understand this complexity: “Mental models are at the base of all systems Power dynamics, relationships, and connections that are informed by mental models and underlying social norms are a key component of a system Systems are more effectively changed with participation from community members who live and understand these relationships and dynamics.”
Several non-profit clients function based on an integrated multilayer approach Many don’t. Rather, they (currently) focus on one or two layers of impact They do try to increase their impact (and potentially the lasting effect of it) by using different channels, and working with different type of impact groups
The most ambiguous level appears to be the collaboration with governments While subsidies and bidirectional exchanges do exists, not all organisations have a deeper impact yet
The 2024 European rofit Pulse confirms that managing skills, well-being, and workforce remains a key challenge for Non-Profit and social impact organizations, emphasizing the need for a blended approach of technology and human support
The management of skills, wellbeing and workforce is a major attention point for nonprofit and social impact organizations Without surprise, this has also been confirmed in the 2024 edition of the European Nonprofit Pulse Managing workload and supporting staff in their wellbeing rank consistently in the top 3 of challenges (along with raising sufficient funds)
Exactly as in for-profit, organisations need to dedicate more time and energy to the motivation, growth and retention of their teams Skills development is as essential for the organisation (to support its ability to deliver upon promises), as for the employees themselves (for their growth and motivation)
This pressure is there to stay, given the increasing number of corporate foundations, and the shifts in workforce composition
To craft a positive dynamic in this climate of fast changing environments and human needs for deceleration and human connection, it is advised to go for a blended approach
Technology can smoothen organizational processes It can contribute to workload management, sense of meaning (as less time needs to be dedicated to redundant tasks) and overall employee motivation Similarly, it can contribute to more flexible work environments (while keeping a focus on human connection and organizational culture) It only delivers lasting results when combined with human and organizational guidance, tailored to each department and the organization as a whole
Helping a hand Joining an event in the neighbourhood Contributing to some smiles Volunteering can be easy! Moreover, whether you like community service, prefer to serve meals or are driven by culture: there are plenty of occasions to join kindred spirits
This is in essence the mission of Serve the City. Started in Belgium, it has become a thriving community in many cities in Europe, Africa and beyond
To facilitate volunteering, they created ServeNow Thanks to this app, volunteers can easily register for shifts of projects, message project leaders, and even cancel their registration when a last-minute issue comes up
That’s not all. This ground-breaking app also allows you to check the latest news about weekly projects, events, volunteering needs, manage projects or register for information sessions All at the tip of your fingers!
For asUgo, it has been a pleasure to work with Serve the City on the latest version of the App The latest releases are live, and many ideas are still in store!

An emergency version of the app was released in Nov 24 in Spain, to support the coordination of specific groups of volunteers, helping after the floodings. A sincere thanks to everyone who put time, availability and motivation in making this happen
Supporting ill and handicaped kids, and their families
What does Villa du Phare do?
Supporting a child with a complex chronic illness or disability can weaken personal and family balance. Everyone tries to find resources to move forward at their own pace on this path, which is often a source of fatigue or even exhaustion for parents. La Villa du Phare offers an innovative pediatric respite system. It comes in 3 components: a mobile team, a respite home, and support workshops to help families find a certain balance in an approach to preventing exhaustion and promoting the health of the parent-carer
We began our activities in 2021. Our founding members are Hôspital de la Citadelle and the Groupe Santé CHC
Since February 2024, a multidisciplinary mobile team has started its activities
Very early on, you decided to include the use of technology to streamline your work?
Indeed My previous experiences have taught me a lot about the added value that tools can bring. We wanted to find a balance between optimization, minimizing paper work, improving user experience and moving forward iteratively This last aspect was very important in our approach, given that the Villa du Phare started from scratch Creating everything is a serious challenge, and at the same time very exciting
It helped us a lot to launch the Salesforce project very early, and to have been able to count on the listening and help of asUgo colleagues
This made it so much easier to be at ease with the tool, especially since we are currently running at full speed!
We are very satisfied We use Salesforce in our daily work In just a few clicks, we consult information and update our beneficiaries’ files It's great
In our business, human contact is essential At first, one person spoke with the beneficiaries, while the other took notes In the meantime, this is no longer even necessary. Our team manages to have a qualitative exchange and active listening, while updating the data itself It’s very motivating
Yes There is no shortage of ideas! After a year, we have reached a significant milestone in the number of people we support on a day-to-day basis. We would like to go even further in our support As a result, the tool or its use may continue to evolve with us. It will also be interesting to continue to evolve as new ideas come along with new people joining us
Having the entire medical network available in just a few clicks is a huge convenience This has a positive effect for our professionalization and for the experience of our beneficiaries
In terms of the tool, we still have some ideas for developments In terms of data quality, we have made great strides forward All we have to do is continue our momentum, and add notes and reports after our field visits. It takes a little discipline

Activating motivated youngsters from underprivileged backgrounds
In the end, it is a lot about people At Boost, we provide young people with a program where they can make their skills shine We provide an activation platform, they do the rest What’s the mission of Boost for Talents?
According to the OECD, 12% of youth with parents without a level of education beyond secondary school qualifications will reach tertiary education themselves and will therefore go on to have low incomes. In 2011, the King Baudouin Foundation and the Sofina Boel fund for education and talent decided to act by creating Boost for Talents.
The mission of Boost for talents is to support talented young people from socioeconomically underprivileged families and enable them to fully exploit their potential, obtain a degree or other higher education qualification and become role models whose success will inspire other young people Boost for talents wants to maximise their chances of success
What do you like most in your organisation?
I believe a lot in the strength of our offer. We have programs in Brussels, Antwerp, Liege, Verviers, Mons, La Louvière, Ghent, Ostend We launched Ostbelgien this year, and just kickstarted Hasselt
We have worked together with more than 1000 youngsters The average rate of success of our Boosters is more than 95% in secondary education and between 65% and 73% in higher education, keeping individualized study careers into mind
Is it about creating an ecosystem for talent activation?
Indeed! We work with youngsters in secondary education, higher education and even after graduation Some alumni become entrepreneur, researcher or meet with fellow alumni to spark further ideas. The upcoming Job Day is even fully managed by our alumni.
We receive also many ideas from the coaches They are in contact with the Boosters and come with very rich feedback. Sometimes, spontaneous exchanges happen also between Boost coaches. They meet out of work to exchange further on ideas and experiences
Where does the passion of people working for Boost come from?
Working with young people gives energy. They are driven and have a such a powerful resilience. They create a positive ripple effect on their family and close surrounding That’s very inspiring
Teachers play also an import role The vast majority of the Boosters have been proposed by their teachers They believe in them The teacher launches the dynamic and the youngster makes it happen From a macro perspective, we are very grateful to everyone who has supported us so far I can only hope we can continue to craft such great collaborations
The youngsters go through different stages. Some struggle with an imposter syndrome, while others get the hang very quickly Some are the first ones from their family or friends that get such an opportunity That requires courage and determination.
On our side, we are putting additional attention to the community feeling for those in higher education, for example by reviewing periodically our Boost Future format
In parallel, we reflect on how to provide better digital support throughout the Boost journey From the submission of candidatures to the management of activities, technology is essential in our mission
We have a strong believe in the potential of young people and the power of the community We want to keep this spirit for Boosters and for our team There needs to be a framework, while leaving enough freedom for new things to happen.
We want to further grow our data capabilities We have already a solid set of KPIs and data It requires discipline, but it helps us for our day-to-day and for larger reflections within our ecosystem We want to continue this, and complement it with extra indicators and dashboards
Firstly, it would be amazing that alumni boosters can become project managers, like myself, in the Boost program And who knows that Boost will be one day managed entirely by Boost alumni A second big dream would be to see the richness of Boost fully embedded in the schools everywhere in Belgium, so that all youngsters have the same educational chances, no matter the background Children are the future, and the future is now

“After me, who will take care about the future of my loved one with a disability?” It was to answer this delicate question that the Portray Foundation was created in 2005
The Portray Foundation's mission is to support and finance in the long term the quality of life of people with disabilities, particularly after the death of their parents To deal with these delicate questions, we put our unique expertise at the service of families and the network that supports them
We collaborate with a large network of disability professionals and partner organizations All our activities are exclusively financed by funds from private donors and patrons
In 2024, we opted for the Salesforce CRM solution to manage and optimize our contact database At this stage Salesforce meets these basic expectations and we are happy to have been supported in this development by the asUgo team (thanks to SociaWare's call for projects) It was a valuable collaboration!
Our activity is growing rapidly, the requests are numerous Ultimately, we would like to integrate efficient tools for managing tasks, projects, calendars, donations, volunteers and events

What did you like about participating as a team? How was the experience and atmosphere?
The camaraderie and teamwork were incredible From fundraising to the trek itself, the shared effort with teammates and other participants was unforgettable The scenery was stunning, and the atmosphere was full of support and unity especially during challenging moments like hiking through the night
Anything else to add?
It’s a tough physical challenge, but well worth it for the cause I highly recommend it whether as a participant or a supporter!

Previously, we struggled with the challenge of managing a large amount of data efficiently, especially given the number of different contacts we work with We now have 300 donors and we are in contact with more than 350 youth organizations and schools
Thanks to asUgo's expertise, we are now able to better organize and monitor our relationships, which helps us carry out our mission more effectively
