Sketches

My thought progress always starts with a sketch on a piece of paper or on my Ipad. I have used my Ipad a lot when painting. I often take pictures of my paintings when in the process of painting and draw on top of the picture some Ideas or adding new shapes and colours to the painting. I also use the iPad to draw sketches of shapes I’m working on.

I get my inspiration mostly from Pinterest, old sketches, photos I take or on Instagram.

iPad sketches/ Conceptual work

Here you can see an example of my conceptual work that I used when I painted on my wall around a mirror in my bedroom. As you can see on the picture on the left I first took a picture of the mirror, then drew on the iPad the pattern that I wanted to paint, then used that as a reference for the painting on the wall. The picture on the right is the outcome painted with some acrylic paint.

Pencil drawings

Before I started painting, I did a lot of pencil drawing. A course at my High school awakened my interest in drawing. Here are a few drawings I drew at the time, a drawing of my grandmother, my friend and a drawing of a model from a picture on Pinterest.

Paintings

I prefer to paint with oil based paint and enjoy improvising with colours and blending techniques. Here are some examples of my recent paintings.

This is a painting expressing happiness through mushrooms. Mushrooms are very happy to me, so they were chosen. I used oil paint and glued some fake diamonds on their stems.

This painting is about passion between two women. I used an inverted filter on my iPad to make the original colours inverted, that's how I got the idea for what colours to use for the painting.

Paintings

This painting has a very sentimental value to me. I painted this when I was in college in the middle of my finals and needed a creative outlet for what I was feeling at the time. I did not feel good at this point in my life, and I think the painting expresses that well. I painted this with water blended acrylic paint, and poured it on the canvas and rotated it in certain directions so the paint would run over the canvas to get the results that I was looking for.

Paintings

The painting below is a painting of my sister that I gave to her as a graduation gift. The painting is drawn after a photograph and then painted with oil based paint. The pattern in the background is painted with acrylic paint.

The picture above is not quite finished but I wanted to include it. The body is painted after a photograph that I took of a model. The idea of this picture was really calling to me, I wanted to paint how I am feeling right now. She represents freedom and mindfulness.

Paintings

This painting represents self exposure or ego death. Losing everything that you were, and all that remains is just a little soul in a skeleton. Ego death is about self exposure to yourself.

This painting is about a lost soul trapped in a woman's body confused about her gender the blue represents male and the pink female. The uncertainty eats her.

Abstract Paintings

This painting is painted with oil painting. I have this pattern stuck in my head all of the time. So I thought it was time to paint it and paint it as big as it is to my mind. It is painted on three canvases. I heard a saying once that everybody got some pattern in them, if that were true this pattern would be mine. I wanted to make it more interceding so I brought some realism to it and added the shadows.

This painting is painted with acrylic paint and painted on three canvases. It represents that we are all, one’’. One big beautiful pattern, all with our purpose for something bigger than yourself.

Ipad drawings

I have recently started using the Ipad for something other than sketching. Here are some recent drawings on the Ipad.

This drawing is about self-work. The gray color represents her formation during her lifetime, everything she aint. The colors underneath represent her ,,true self’’ her beautiful soul underneath her ego. Here is an attempt to make a texture that looks like metal.
