ASSOCIATION OF LABOUR PROVIDERS

ALP WELCOME

UK labour supply challenges and their impacts on our lives are now making daily headline news. Whilst full employment is an overridingly positive thing, vacancy numbers have never been higher and in recent times, labour shortages never so acute. The business sector called for a pragmatic, evidence-based post EU exit immigration system that would work at all skill levels to enable industry to continue to survive and thrive. Instead, the new system has all but ended businesses’ ability to address critical lower skilled labour shortages from outside the UK. With limited transitional arrangements and no meaningful UK domestic skills and workforce strategy, the cliff edge that business warned of has come to pass. The food supply chain is now facing extreme challenges in recruiting and retaining the essential workers it needs. Labour providers vital role in sourcing sufficient UK resident workers with the right quality and skill level has never been so critical. The ALP is supporting our members to adapt to the new immigration rules, new ways of working and what is, in effect, a new economic reality. Supporting reputable labour providers and promoting responsible recruitment are at the core of the ALP’s purpose – we encourage all our members and their clients to make full use of the free resources available through Stronger Together, the Responsible Recruitment Toolkit and Just Good Work. If you are an employer that uses labour providers, then please contact us to learn more about how ALP can support you. We are here to support our members. If you are a labour provider and are not yet an ALP member, give us a call, we’d love to talk with you.

Best Regards David Camp Chief Executive
