State Rep. Micah Neal tees off. 42

Thirty-two golfers teed off at Oakridge Golf Course in Huntsville on Aug. 4 to raise funds for the Randy Kemp Memorial Scholarship. Kemp was the Association of Arkansas Counties’ first communications director. He joined AAC in 2008 after a successful career in newspapers. He died in a motorcycle accident in August 2011. The Randy Kemp Memorial Scholarship aims to raise funds for scholarships for descendents of county officials or employees who intend to pursue a college degree in communications. The 2015 Randy Kemp Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Katherine Kemp, the granddaughter of deceased Independence County Justice of the Peace James Kemp. Katherine, a 2014 graduate of Conway High School and a 2014 recipient of the scholarship, is the great-niece of the scholarship’s namesake. She is pursuing a degree in mass commu-

nications at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. AAC appreciates all who support the fund and the golfers who participated.
