In the 18th century Gallatown existed only of a small development at an intersection of St Clair Street connecting to North and North East Fife. The remaining area was dominated by agricultural land. In the 19th century industrialisation is changing the landscape: agricultural land is divided into formal plots, factories (towards Pathhead) and potteries (along St Clair St) established and housing expanded along St Clair St.

• Few factory buildings, street names (Pottery St) and churches still exist today In the 20th century housing, mainly terrraced housing, expanded throughout the area. Gallatown Park remains the only unbuild parcel of land.
