Community Hubs

Community hubs enable residents to get together for various activities

The Overton Community Centre, the YMCA Bike Hub (at the old bowling club) and Happy Days Centre are offering a wide range of activities for different groups with Gallatown and the wider area. With construction work due to start soon, the old bowling club will become a new community centre with space for a cafe, associated garden and play spaces in addition to the existing bike hub and recently completed skills park. The activities currently offered at ‘Happy Days’ will be moving into the new Gallatown community centre.

Recommendations:

The Overton Community Centre has no associated outdoor spaces adjacent to the building. These should be improved to offer opportunities for the user groups to undertake their activities within the outdoors as well as improving access in and out of the building. The main entrance to building is diffi cult to identify and could be more welcoming.
