In the 19th century industrialisation is changing the landscape: agricultural land is divided into formal plots, factories (towards Pathhead) and potteries (along St Clair St) established and housing expanded along St Clair St.

In the 20th century housing, mainly terrraced housing, expanded throughout the area. Gallatown Park remains the only unbuild parcel of land.

Relevance for Gallatown Improvements: • Few factory buildings, street names (Pottery St) and churches still exist today

Relevance for Gallatown Improvements: • Housing areas, such as the one to the NorthWest and Highlands & Islands, have been rebuild with a different housing typology
