It is on this very stage that the industry continues to thrive.
This year, Asian cinema shines with a diverse selection of 30 outstanding films from 25 countries and regions. We are honoured to have the legendary Hong Kong director, action choreographer, and actor Sammo HUNG leading the jury as the Jury President, steering an exceptional panel of jurors. We are also thrilled to welcome Dean FUJIOKA as our esteemed Ambassador, along with four remarkable actors— Aokbab Chutimon, Austin LIN, LO Chun Yip, and OKADA Masaki—serving as Youth Ambassador. These talents embody the passion and innovation from different regions that drive Asian cinema forward.
The theme for this year's Asian Film Awards is "Empowering Ideas Together". We deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of all Asian film professionals. The 18th Asian Film Awards once again brings together the best of Asian cinema, celebrating extraordinary talent and creativity across the region. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all nominees, including Exhuma from Korea, which has earned recognition in 11 categories, and the remarkable 30 films from 25 Asian regions that have been selected this year. Such diversity and artistic excellence are a testament to the enduring vitality of Asian cinema.
Despite varying levels of support for the film industry across nations, filmmakers and industry professionals around the world continue to pursue their craft with unyielding passion and resilience. The Busan International Film Festival remains dedicated to standing alongside these visionaries, providing a platform for their voices to be heard and their works to be celebrated. Together, we can ensure that the vibrancy of global cinema endures for generations to come.

洪金寶 Sammo HUNG
JURY PRESIDENT 評審主席
Sammo HUNG began studying Peking Opera with Master YU Jim-yuen at 10. As the eldest of the "Seven Little Fortunes", he honed a strong base in Peking Opera and martial arts. Through groundbreaking works like The Iron-Fisted Monk and Enter the Fat Dragon in 1977 and 1978, he revolutionised Hong Kong action comedy, leaving a lasting impact on cinema. His diverse contributions, from trendsetting films like EncountersoftheSpookyKind to international success in Martial Law, showcase his versatility and talent. Returning to Hong Kong, he continued to inspire in films such as Ip Man and Twilightofthe Warriors: Walled In, solidifying his legacy as a masterful martial artist and creative force in the industry, cherished by audiences worldwide.
洪金寶十歲起隨師于占元學習京劇，作為「七小福」中的大師兄，他打下了深厚的京劇和武術功底。1977年 和1978年，他以《三德和尚與舂米六》和《肥龍過江》等開創性的作品，徹底改變了香港動作喜劇，對 電影界產生了持久的影響。他的多元化貢獻，從引領潮流的電影《鬼打鬼》到國際成功的《過江龍》，展現 了他的多才多藝和才華。回到香港後，他繼續在《葉問》和《九龍城寨之圍城》等電影中激勵觀眾，鞏固 了他作為武術大師和創意力量的地位，受到全球觀眾的喜愛。

Film appreciation is deeply subjective—every viewer experiences and interprets films differently. As the Jury President, I believe that expressing opinions honestly is a way of respecting the creators. In recent years, Asian filmmakers have delivered extraordinary works, and through these awards, I hope to celebrate the cultural richness and unique charm of Asian cinema while introducing these exceptional creations to a broader audience.
電影欣賞是一件非常主觀的事情，每個人都有自己的感受和看法。所以我在評審時，會很坦白地表達自己的 觀點，給予紮實的評價。我相信這是對創作者的尊重。近年來，亞洲電影湧現了許多讓人眼前一亮的作品， 當中所呈現的人物和畫面，都能讓人留下難忘的印象。我很期待能透過這次大獎，致力發揚電影文化，讓 更多觀眾欣賞到這些精彩的創作，進一步認識亞洲電影的文化深度和魅力。
藤岡 靛 Dean FUJIOKA
Winner of Best Actor at the 12th Confidence Drama Awards for MonteCristo:ABeautifulRevenge, where he portrayed a multi-faceted character, FUJIOKA gained early recognition across Asia with starring roles in Taiwanese dramas such as Corner with Love and Miss No Good. In 2012, he earned widespread acclaim for his performance in NHK's Asa ga Kita, receiving the Special Award at the 88th Television Drama Academy Awards. Recently, he starred in the widely anticipated second season of the web drama The Victims' Game. Beyond acting, FUJIOKA has demonstrated his all-round talent as a musician, releasing solo albums and composing theme songs for film and television projects.
2006年，藤岡靛憑《八月的故事》正式出道，隨後主演台劇《轉角＊遇到愛》和《不良笑花》累積知名度。

You lived in different parts of the world before entering the industry. How do you think this experience has helped or influenced your acting?
Having seen different people and been in various places undoubtedly broadens my perspective. When I was studying in the U.S., a professor told us, "The future is Asia" which influenced my return to Asia, leading me to Hong Kong and starting my acting career.
As both an actor and a musician, do the two roles influence your performance or nourish each other?
As an actor, portraying various characters allows me to experience many lives that I would not otherwise. This accumulation of experience is particularly beneficial in music creation, especially in lyrics writing. Many of my music works are themes from films or TV series I star in or participate in. Therefore, they complement each other and inspire one another.
What experiences would you like to share with young actors who aspire to enter the industry?
While you are young, do not be too selective about your projects. When opportunities arise, embrace them with a positive attitude. Even if it is an unfamiliar field, be brave enough to try and challenge yourself.
As actors, our role is to help directors and producers realise their creative visions. Therefore, understanding the background and intentions behind why you were chosen is very important. Finally, always remember—never give up. That is the spirit!
你在未出道前曾於世界各地生活過，你認為這樣的 經歷對你演戲有什麼樣的幫助或是影響呢？ 看到過不一樣的人，也待過不一樣的地方，當然會 廣闊自己的眼界。在美國唸書的時候教授告訴我們 「未來是亞洲的」這句話，這也影響我回到了亞洲， 來到了香港，然後開啟了自己的演藝道路。 同時作為演員和音樂人，兩者之間有沒有互相影響你 的表現，或者相互帶來養份？ 作為演員，演繹各種不同的角色，讓我體驗自己 無法經歷的多種人生。這種累積尤其在音樂創作， 特别是作詞方面，對我有很大的幫助。我的音樂， 有很多是自己主演或者出演的作品的主題曲或者 插曲。所以會是相輔相成，互相給予靈感的關係。
你有甚麼經驗希望跟想入行的年輕演員分享？ 趁年輕，不要去過多的「選」作品，有機會就要以 積極的心態去接納。即便是自己不熟悉的領域，也要 勇敢地去嘗試和挑戰。
作為演員，我們的作用是幫助導演和製片人去完成 他們想做的作品。因此，盡量去理解自己被選中的 背景和意圖，是非常重要的。最後，永遠要記住—— Never give up. That is the spirit!

茱蒂蒙翠莎容素欣
Winner of the Best Actress at the International Emmy Awards for Hunger, Aokbab Chutimon debuted in the record-breaking global hit Bad Genius in 2017. She received multiple newcomer awards from renowned events such as the 12th Asian Film Awards, the 16th New York Asian Film Festival, and the 58th Asia Pacific Film Awards. She proves her versatility by delivering compelling performances across genres, including the China-Hong Kong-Thailand co-production One for the Road, executive produced by Wong Kar-wai, and the romance drama HappyOldYear.

林柏宏 Austin LIN
Nominated twice for Best Actor at the 57th and 60th Golden Horse Awards for I WeirDO and Marry My DeadBody, LIN first gained recognition with his debut film Somewhere I Have Never Travelled, earning nominations for Best Actor and Best New Talent at the 11th Taipei Film Awards. He later won Best Supporting Actor at the 53rd Golden Horse Awards for At Café 6. As one of Taiwan's most promising actors, LIN has demonstrated remarkable versatility in tackling complex roles. In 2024, he made his Korean cinema debut with TristesTropiques

LO Chun Yip
盧鎮業
Nominated for Best Actor at the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards for TimeStillTurnsthePages, LO delivered a heartfelt and powerful performance. His role in Suk Suk also earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards. His latest film, MontagesofaModernMotherhood, was officially selected for both the Busan and Tokyo International Film Festivals, showcasing his versatility as one of Hong Kong's most accomplished actors.
盧鎮業曾參與多部電視劇和電影，2020年憑電影《叔·叔》入圍第39屆香港電影金像獎最佳男配角，隨後在 《年少日記》中首度擔綱男主角，更憑此角色首度提名第42屆金像獎最佳男主角，演技備受肯定。2024年， 他參演的電影《虎毒不》成功入圍釜山及東京國際電影節的單元系列。
OKADA Masaki
岡田將生
Nominated for the Japan Academy Film Prize for Best Supporting Actor, OKADA's striking performance in Villain and Confessions showcased his ability to master contrasting characters. He earned multiple newcomer awards for his leading role in HonokaaBoy, including the Japan Academy Film Prize and Blue Ribbon Awards. In 2021, he starred in the acclaimed DriveMyCar, which won Best Film at the 16th Asian Film Awards and Best International Feature at the 94th Academy Awards.
2009年，岡田將生在《夏威夷男孩》首次擔任主演，橫掃日本影藝學院獎及藍絲帶電影獎多項新人獎，迅速 成為日本影壇新星。他憑《惡人》和《告白》展現對比鮮明的角色駕馭力，並獲日本電影學院獎優秀男配角獎。
2021年，他出演的《Drive My Car》榮獲第16屆亞洲電影大獎最佳電影及第94屆奧斯卡最佳國際影片。

How do you cope with challenges or setbacks in your career?
Aokbab Chutimon: The most challenging thing back then was I had two main responsibilities to do at the same time, studying and working. Working during that time became a trial and error to find things I was interested in and wanted to do. While I thought that studying was like a full-time job for me but did not get a salary. I would like to thank my family and friends who always stay beside me all the time.
你怎樣應對職業生涯中的挑戰或挫折？
茱蒂蒙翠莎容素欣: 初入行時最具挑戰的是我要同時 兼顧學習與工作。那時的工作更像是一個不斷嘗試 和探索的過程，幫助我找到自己真正感興趣的方向。
而學習對我來說則像一份無薪的全職工作。那是我生 命中最艱難的時刻，很感謝我的家人和朋友們的陪伴 與支持。
林柏宏:
Austin LIN: In an actor's life, it is less about setbacks and more about anxieties. We will never know how people will react to our work or our performance, so I just throw myself into every role and focus on the character. When I am really into the performance, I seem to worry less about what others think.
LO Chun Yip: Moving from behind the scenes to acting was a long journey of learning and waiting. I tried many positions in filmmaking before deciding to focus on acting until I was 30. Even then, opportunities were hard to come by, and I doubted myself a lot. Things changed when I got the role in SukSuk. It allows me to try a new way of acting, and I got nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards. It was definitely a turning point for me, it boosted my confidence and left my past uncertainties behind.
OKADA Masaki: Talking about the setbacks in my career, I have indeed had periods of reflection, but I try not to regret the path I have chosen. Of course, looking back now, there were moments of frustration.
在演員的生命中與其說是挫折，不如說是焦 慮吧，我們不確定每一個作品的評價或表現，所以對 每個作品我總是全力以赴，專注投入角色。當注意 力是放在表演本身，似乎就不會去擔心太多外界的 事情。
盧鎮業: 從幕後到幕前，我經歷了漫長的學習與等 待。初期嘗試電影拍攝的不同崗位，至近30歲決定 專注演戲，卻因機會不多而常陷入自我懷疑。直到 2018年《叔叔》一角，讓我挑戰新表演方式，獲得 金像獎最佳男配角提名，也讓更多觀眾認識我。這次 經歷成為轉捩點，確立了我作為演員的信心，告別過 去的迷惘。
岡田將生: 關於職業生涯中的挫折，我確實也有過思 考的時期，但我盡量都不會為自己選擇的道路而後 悔。當然，現在回想起來當時的確是有些沮喪的。
How do you see your role in the future of the Asian film industry? What kind of presence do you hope to be?
Aokbab Chutimon: I see myself as an actress who can play every role or character which everyone would not expect to. I would like to play a character with different shades of humanity.
Austin LIN: Asian cinema is increasingly loved by audiences worldwide. I feel really fortunate to collaborate with the team of Korean film Tristes Tropiques, and I hope to create alongside interesting and talented teams from Asia and around the world. I aspire to be the kind of actor who plays many impressive roles and keeps surprising people with what I can do.
LO Chun Yip: I have always enjoyed the fluidity of being involved in different productions as a filmmaker. Moving foward, I am excited about working with people from other regions and seeing where that takes me. At the same time, I am reflecting my role as a Hong Kong filmmaker and how I can better share the development of Hong Kong cinema with the world.
OKADA Masaki: I believe if I just keep putting efforts into every film, all these efforts will eventually come together in a meaningful way. So, I am just focusing on working hard everyday and giving it my best.
你如何看待自己在未來亞洲電影界的角色？希望 成為什麼樣的存在？ 茱蒂蒙翠莎容素欣: 我希望自己是一位能夠演繹各種 角色，讓每個人都意想不到的演員。我想飾演具有不 同人性層面的角色。
林柏宏: 亞洲電影越來越受到全球觀眾的喜愛，我很 幸運能參與韓國電影《悲傷熱帶》的團隊合作，也希 望未來能和亞洲甚至全球有趣優秀的團隊一起創作。 我期許自己成為一位擁有許多令人印象深刻角色，且 充滿可能性的演員。
盧鎮業: 一直很喜歡以電影人身份參與不同製作的流 動性。未來我很期待能探索更多跨地域合作的可能， 並積極參與其中，同時思考自己將會處於什麼位置， 身為香港電影人，能如何更好地介紹香港電影發展。
岡田將生: 我相信，只要認真面對每一部電影，這些 努力最終都會有所聯繫，所以我每天都在為此努力 工作。

YAKUSHO Koji's journey into acting was sparked by an unforgettable encounter with a stage performance by NAKADAI Tatsuya. His breakout role in Shall We Dance? earned him Best Actor accolades at the Japan Academy Prize, Blue Ribbon Awards, Kinema Junpo Awards, Hochi Film Awards, and Mainichi Film Awards, cementing his status as one of Japan's most distinguished actors. Over the years, he has collaborated with renowned directors such as IMAMURA Shōhei, KUROSAWA Kiyoshi, KORE-EDA Hirokazu, and NAKASHIMA Tetsuya, bringing to life compelling characters that have shaped Japanese cinema.
Beyond Japan, YAKUSHO's talent has also been widely recognised on the international stage. His role in LostParadise introduced him to global audiences, while TheEel won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, solidifying his reputation as a world-class performer. He continued to impress with standout performances in the Golden Globe-winning Babel and the Oscar-winning Memoirs of a Geisha, proving his ability to connect with audiences across cultures. In 2023, he delivered another career-defining performance in Perfect Days, earning the Best Actor Award at Cannes, becoming only the second Japanese actor to receive this prestigious honour.
With a career spanning over four decades, YAKUSHO has embodied diverse roles with remarkable depth, seamlessly navigating romance, suspense, crime, and family dramas. From the subtle emotions of Lost Paradise and The Eel to the intensity of The Blood of Wolves and The Third Murder, and the poignant realism of TokyoSonata and UndertheOpenSky, his performances continue to leave a lasting impact on audiences and the industry alike.

Many people think that Mr. YAKUSHO is a "textbook-level" actor, but have you ever questioned yourself in your acting career?
What is a textbook-level actor? Throughout my acting career, I have always doubted myself and continuously asked this question.
Are there any dreams you have yet to fulfill in your acting career?
In terms of film and acting, there are many dreams I have yet to fulfil. This is why I am still able to continue working as an actor today.
If you could describe your acting life in one sentence, what would it be?
"Play seriously hard."
How do young actors today differ from when you started? What advice would you give to the next generation of actors?
Nowadays, most young actors and actresses are trained to face the camera from a young age, which is a significant difference from my generation. I think the first time I saw myself moving on screen was after I had already become an actor. As for advice, since we mostly play human characters, I think it is important to be interested in people and build relationships with different individuals. I hope you can truly enjoy your work as an actor.

What difficulties have you faced while acting, and how did you overcome them?

When I started acting, I knew nothing and struggled a lot. Everything was unfamiliar, and being young made it even harder. Even as I gained experience, acting remained challenging in different ways. One of the greatest difficulties has been stepping out of my comfort zone and avoiding mannerisms. I am still pushing myself to improve, hoping for more breakthroughs in the future and to show a different side of myself.
Having been in the industry for over 30 years, is there a particular genre, theme, or role you still hope to challenge yourself with?
While working on my latest film A Normal Family with director HUR Jin-ho, I reflected on my past roles and realised I have often played extraordinary characters—soldiers, assassins, or kings. By contrast, I have rarely portrayed everyday people and the joys and sorrows that shape their lives. Moving forward, I hope to take on roles that bring these real, relatable stories to life.
你在演戲過程中遇到過哪些困難？你是如何克服的？ 剛入行拍戲時，很多事情我都不懂，覺得每件事都很 陌生，因此感到困難。那時候年輕，很多經驗都還 沒有累積，所以適應起來更不容易。後來經歷多了， 開始熟悉這個行業，也慢慢受到認同，但就算這樣， 演戲依然不簡單。我覺得最困難的，是要跳脫舊有 框架，學習新事物。每當嘗試新角色時，我都會擔心 自己的表演風格會不會有太多“mannerism”，這點 我到現在還在努力克服。我希望能夠有所突破，挑戰 更多可能性，讓大家看到不一樣的我。
你在電影業已經超過30年， 你是否有想挑戰的主 題、類型或角色？ 我最近的作品《非普通家族》是與許秦豪導演合作的 電影。在拍攝過程中，我突然意識到，自己以往飾演 的角色，大多不是日常生活中常見的人物，像是戰 場上的軍人、殺手，或古裝片中的皇帝。相比之下， 現實生活中的普通人，他們的喜怒哀樂，那些細膩而 真實的情感，反而是我較少詮釋的領域，因此我希望 能嘗試演繹這類角色。

Are there any roles or genres you still hope to explore? Would you consider a creative role?
For now, I have no specific plans to work behind the scenes. My focus remains on acting, as every new character presents a fresh challenge and the chance to explore different themes. I look forward to working with interesting people to create meaningful films.
How does it feel to receive the Excellence in Asian Cinema Award? Does this honour bring back memories of any past roles or films?
I am truly grateful to the Asian Film Awards for recognising my work. Hong Kong has always been special to me, and I am thrilled to return for this honour. Thinking about this award, I cannot help but recall all the roles I have played and the films I have been a part of. I want to take this opportunity to thank every director and collaborator I have worked with, as well as the audiences whose support made this possible.
你一直在電影路上尋求挑戰，在未來還有甚麼崗位或 題材想挑戰呢？會否嘗試創作崗位？
目前在崗位方面沒有特別的計劃，我依然會全心投入 表演創作。對我來說，每一個新角色都是一次挑戰， 也讓我有機會接觸不同的題材。我希望未來能和更多 有趣的人一起合作，拍攝更具意義的電影。

Having been in the industry for many years, what does the "Next Generation" mean to you?
"Next" does not just represent a younger generation of filmmakers—it also symbolises fresh perspectives and insights. As a member of this "next generation", I have learnt invaluable lessons from my predecessors. At the same time, when working with younger talents, the innovative exchange of ideas constantly challenges me and helps me grow as an actor.
Having worked on various film and television projects across Asia, what are some key differences and similarities you have observed?
Each place has unique traditions and storytelling styles that shape its filmmaking. These differences influence the themes and techniques filmmakers use. Despite these differences, emotions are universal. Film, as a medium of emotional expression, has the power to bring diverse emotions to life, allowing audiences to connect through storytelling.
你在演藝圈已有多年豐富經驗，對你而言，「新世代」 代表了甚麼？
「新」不僅代表新一代的電影人，也象徵著全新的視 角與見解。一方面，我作為「新世代」，在與前輩交 流時，能從他們身上學習到許多寶貴的經驗與心得； 另一方面，當我與更年輕的「新世代」互動時，也會 感受到他們嶄新的思維，這種交流對我來說也是一種 學習和啟發。

What types of films do you usually enjoy watching?
I love watching all different kinds of genres but I usually find myself searching for romance films when I want to watch a movie. I also truly love films with messages behind them. Ones that you can reflect on and learn from. I really enjoy the moment I can feel the emotions when the movie ends, soaking in the thoughts and emotions.
As a model, actress and music creator, do these three roles influence your performance or nourish each other in some way?
I think all three do influence each other a lot. I remember when I started acting, the team I was modeling with told me that the way I portray my emotions through the photos changed a lot. I think it really helped me to express myself a lot more and have more freedom in my expressions.
In a way, I feel like all three, acting, modeling and composing, include a lot of creativity, emotions and expressions.
你平常喜歡看什麼類型的電影？
其實各種類型的電影我都喜歡，但發現自己通常會 選擇愛情電影。我也特別喜歡有深度、有訊息的 作品，那種能讓人思考、從中學習的故事。我最享受 的，就是電影結束後，情感湧上心頭、讓人沉浸其中 的那一刻。

Synopsis 故事大綱
In Tehran, the capital of Iran, civil unrest has become a daily occurrence. Newly appointed judge Iman is ordered to sign hundreds of death sentences each day as a response to the protests. As tensions escalate, his two progressive daughters rebel against him, leading to a spread of distrust and conflict both within the family and throughout the country. Iman struggles to maintain peace within his home and his country as tension builds to a boiling point.

Synopsis 故事大綱
Fleeing the powerful local mob boss Mr. Big, illegal migrant CHAN Lok-kwun stumbles into the notorious Kowloon Walled City, a lawless and chaotic place in 1980s Hong Kong. There, he forms a brotherhood with three men and meets Cyclone, the guardian of the Walled City. For the first time, he feels at home and finds belonging. 為支持可持續發展、追溯性和透明度，我們一直與咖啡 豆種植農場直接進行貿易，並進行自家烘焙。憑著我們 在咖啡領域上的專業知識，我們追求產品的質素和安 全，致力為顧客提供優質的咖啡體驗。
在 2024 年，我們的創辦人之一 Gary Au 先後奪得「香港 咖啡調酒大賽」和「香港咖啡師大賽」的冠軍，並將有幸 代表香港出戰世界賽！ 迄今為止，U.C.R. 在香港擁有四間咖啡店和一間高端 咖啡烘焙工場。同時，我們亦是知名咖啡品牌 Mahlkönig、Anfim、Brewista、DiFluid 和Aquacode在香港的 官方總代理。
2-WayCup 由 Urban Coffee Roaster 創辦人之一、「2024 香港咖啡調酒大賽」及「2024 香港咖啡師大賽」冠軍得主 Gary Au 發明及設計。
2-WayCup 透過一杯兩口的雙重品嚐設計讓大家可以在一個容器中探索到兩種獨特的風味特徵。2-WayCup 致力 革新人們品味和感官體驗的欣賞方式，希望讓大家能夠輕鬆而愉悅地探索、了解並全情投入感官之旅。無論是喝咖 啡、喝茶，還是喝清酒，2-WayCup 都能為大家開拓豐富的口味世界，助你享受飲料不同的味道層次。
2024年，2-WayCup 以創新設計入選享譽全球的2024紅點設計獎 (Red Dot Award 2024 – Design Concept)。 同年，來自奧地利的咖啡師 Martin Wölfl 於世界咖啡沖煮大賽 (WBrC 2024) 中使用 2-WayCup作賽，讓評審們在 一個杯子中體驗兩種不同層次的口味，最後勇奪世界冠軍。
