4 A note from our Event Director

W

elcome to the Accenture Digital Media Awards... with added neon, UV and sparkle. The 2016 awards have just blown us away with the colossal upsurge in entries — there were double the number of entries in certain categories. I think these statistics demonstrate the versatility of digital and its increasing dominance across the board. Entries for Best use of Social Media grew by 25 per cent while those for Best use of Video increased by a massive 110 per cent. This year 21 per cent more agencies submitted work on behalf of clients, while there was a 43 per cent increase in entries directly from companies. The feedback from our judging panel was that the quality of entries this year was outstanding. In several categories fractions of points separated the top ten entries. In some categories we had to draft in a third, fourth, fifth and even a sixth judge to review submissions. Cutting down entries to a finalists list was a truly difficult task so to have made it onto the finalist list means you are creating excellent work. I would like to thank Accenture Digital our headline partner for the awards. The team

is great to work with. Their approach to partnerships included fresh ideas delivered in fun and unique ways. We thoroughly enjoyed the creativity and fun that finalists had with our HaveYourCakeAndTweetIt competition. I think that Adland stopped for a day so that agencies could play with the giant cupcakes and glowsticks we sent out. Accenture, the Love Digital team and I want to wish all of the finalists the best of luck tonight and we hope you all enjoy the awards and have a memorable evening.
