Cheeky Chimps has been upgrading our facilities all year. During the summer holidays we are hoping to install a canopy so the children from the pre-school and the after-school club can play outside in all weathers. In preparation we need to paint the building and fencing during the first part of the summer holidays (Date to be confirmed). If you are able to help please either email cheeky.chimps@btconnect.co.uk or call Adele on 210026
All Saints would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who came and helped with our churchyard clear up on Saturday. Our churchyard is a community facility that we are proud of, thanks to Gary Townsend who has looked after it for many years for us. The grass is always beautifully mown and we are mindful that he does many tasks over and above his remit. Some twenty willing volunteers turned up, some couples, some familiar faces and some that we had not met before, all fully equipped with power tools to gloves. All set to with a will and a number of areas in the churchyard that had not been seen for a while were exposed. What a lovely community atmosphere on a sunny Saturday afternoon Trees were lopped, ivy cleared and amazingly all those awful black bags of rubbish are no longer piled in the corner. We are so grateful! We promised yummy cakes and we hope that you were not disappointed and the church provided a cool space for refreshment on a very hot afternoon. Of course we didn’t finish the task, and will probably have to do ‘round 2’ but for now, thank you all again for your brilliant support and hope no-one suffered any lasting ill effects. Could we take this opportunity to ask anyone using the churchyard to put their rubbish in the bins provided at the south side of the church and not in the lower part. Supporting All Saints (SAS)

All Saints Church News (A letter from Revd. Stephen Lynas the Senior Chaplain to our Bishops) Dear Friends, A PRAYER FOR A CHANGING LANDSCAPE “Change is here to stay”, they say. In this diocese at the moment, we only have one bishop! On 22 June we said farewell to Rt Revd Peter Price, who has been Bishop of Bath & Wells for 11 busy years. That’s a big change for the church – and for me. As senior chaplain to the bishops, I have to help the Bishop of Taunton deal with the vacancy, and I’m keenly interested in when and how Somerset gets its next Bishop of Bath & Wells. We take our time choosing our leaders. There has been a whole lot of consultation with the wider community about what kind of Christian leader we need. Over the summer, the Crown Nominations Commission will be trying to discern who there is available that might fit the bill. Hopefully, after much work and prayer, a name will be announced in the autumn. The church has not (yet) worked out a way of enabling women priests to become bishops. So one thing we know is it will be a man! But we don’t know who it will be, or what changes his appointment might bring. In the meantime, the church will carry on being the church. We’ve been around long enough to be able to carry on without a leader for a while. Not every organisation could say the same. Change is unsettling. Yet Christians believe in a God who says, ‘Behold, I make all things new’. One of the best things you can do when the landscape is changing around you is to say a prayer. Here’s one we’re going to be saying a lot this summer. Do join us, if you can. Faithful God, in your providence you lead your pilgrim Church into new adventures of faith: Pour out your Holy Spirit, that all who are involved in the selection of our new bishop may be blessed with discernment, vision and wisdom; And that the one who is your choice will be anointed with all the gifts of that same Spirit to be a blessing to us in this diocese. Trusting in your power to accomplish far more than all we can ask or imagine, we ask this in the name of Christ our Lord. Amen.
Stephen Lynas Senior Chaplain to the Bishops of Bath & Wells and Taunton
