COMMUNITY E-WATCH You may be aware that there is a community e-watch running for the Villages along the Polden Hills This is really an electronic neighbourhood watch, where for instance, if there was a burglary in the parish then others signed up to the e-watch would know and be able to look out for suspicious activity and help prevent another one. If you would be co-ordinator for the parish clerk who will put you co-ordinator.

Did you know that one in two people are affected by Cancer either directly or indirectly? It has no respect for young or old, rich or poor and will strike anywhere Research has come a long way in recent years and many cancers are now successfully treated though sadly not all. Our eldest son, Guy, was diagnosed in November and though we support Guy and his family in practical ways we would like to support all cancer sufferers so we are holding a Stand up to Cancer Coffee Morning.

Hi folks, Just before Easter, the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris was engulfed in flames. Although this was sad, we may need to be reminded that the essence of Christianity is not in stones and architecture.

Instead, it is that we humans can have a direct relationship with God, brought about by the death and resurrection of Jesus at Easter, and mediated by the Holy Spirit. Prayer is one of the main ways by which we can enjoy this relationship now. W therefore running the Prayer Course between May and July. If you think of prayer only as formalised and structured – think again! The exciting spontaneity of Pentecostal prayer and the quiet stillness of contemplative experience are all part of its richness as well. If you would like to have your experience of prayer deepened and stretched, do join us! Three years ago the Archbishop of Canterbury launched Thy Kingdom Come Christians around the world to pray for more J daily prayer between Pentecost (May 30) and Ascension (June 9), both morning and evening in each of the six churches.
