Once again what talent we have in Ashcott, from directing and producing, to the cast who were terrific, all ages took part. Everyone played their roles so well. The singing was excellent. The scenery was effective, a lot of hard work went into making it and all the props that were needed. The costumes were fantastic. Lighting and music were added to the effects. Rehearsals started in September with get togethers on a Sunday afternoon and scenery making and painting Saturdays and Sunday mornings. These productions are a real team effort. The young man who directed it is to be congratulated. Thank you everyone for all your hard work. Also thanks go to other people who helped with front of house, raffle and refreshments. Looking forward to next years pantomime already. Ashcott Village Hall Committee.
An urgent plea to all local dog owners to pick up after your dogs at the playing fields. Every week we are having to clear up several lots of dog mess off the field. The playing field is the only area in the entire village where children can go and safely let off steam after school or at the weekend and having it spoilt by dog mess is not acceptable and extremely unhygienic, especially when they slide over in it and end up with it smeared over their legs as happened recently with a child! If you let your dog off the lead whilst at the playing field it is YOUR responsibility to watch them and then to clean up after them as well.

JENNY TODMAN 210437

Hi folks, – a good time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the new one. For Jen and myself there was one standout event last year: the arrival of Joshua. Since doubled in weight. One of my favourite photos is this one, which Jen took while I was unaware, as we walked back along the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall in November. One of the privileges of my job is that I get to meet people at the highs and lows of life. For those contemplating marriage and children, the New Year may well bring much joy and happiness. But for those who are facing ill health – perhaps even just a few months to live – then the New Year is likely to be a more daunting prospect, both for the one suffering and those close by. Some people turn against God in times of suffering – this is very understandable. But there are some who discover that God is present with them in a much more real and deep way than they had ever expected, in the very midst of suffering. I feel very inspired and humbled when I meet people who are in this situation. As I wish you much blessing and joy in the New Year, I do so realising that G way of doing things, if we let him into our lives, and particularly in the deepest moments, he will bring us great blessing in every circumstance – not just the obviously happy ones. Every blessing, Rich Tweedy vicar@poldenwheel.co.uk
