He was in the army, living in Germany. Very obedient, very strict—didn’t play that shit— but at the same time, very lenient, somewhat playful. I was the one with the attitude but my sister was the one always getting in trouble. She got beat constantly, nonstop. She cried and cried. Sometimes wouldn’t say a word. “Who made this mess?!” came from the man standing tall in his army fatigue uniform. My sister pissed her pants, ran in the room— we both knew she was doomed. “I did.” He turned and walked away. “Why don’t you come and hit me?” is what I said. The look he gave, I thought I’d see an early grave. But to my surprise, he broke down and cried.

The world is full of life. Our spirits, our souls fly like a kite, meaning we’re free. Free like a bird soaring in the sky going past beyond just to feel that high of being alive and acting like we’re roaming the streets listening to music beats walking, running heavy on the feet. Man, it’s great to be alive. Sooner or later we’re all going to die. But for now, I’ll enjoy my high.
