Poems by

Steve Lewis (a.k.a. Latin Gorilla) A NEW DAY The day begins, your voice alters my ways and actions. Coppertone, heavenly sent intoxicating, your Caribbean features overwhelm the animal within. I can no longer contain myself… The dark and cold, lonely night keeps my soul weeping And my dreams, nightmares are so vivid. The anticipation for the sun’s rays to break the night. So I can yet again bathe in the warmth of your love… How many seconds that will turn to minutes with hours prolonging that become weeks that come to become a new month, your eyes dig deep within my soul! If only you knew better, yet understood the nights I’ve caressed your soul…when kissing you from head to toe… IT’S SNOWING To be honest I can’t wait for the sun to rise again At 30 MPH God blew white so that the day can begin… ashes…Into my face. No harm done, to be honest it felt more like a face-off in time to bring forth the child that would play until fingers, toes, and nose numb… For every hour that passes one or two inches accumulate of white ashes that complete the puzzle that built this white sheet that covers every obstacle within its path… As the footprints leave behind the story that’s rarely remembered, the more we walk the more compelling it becomes. Sometimes I gaze out the window and wonder whatever happened to that kid that played in these white ashes… at 30 MPH… Forever praising you P.S. It’s not too cold. Who’s ready to play in the snow? 24
