Jeremiah Suggs DO YOU KNOW ME? An old man laying down on the sidewalk, everyone looking at him— some gave to him, and some just talked about him. He stood and he said: Do you know me? I have sacrificed my life for this country and what do I get in return… you judging me. Do you know me? I am the same man that faced death every night and day believing that our country has a better way. Do you know me? I’m the same one that watched others die by my side just protecting this land we claim to be free. Do you know yourself? Then just maybe you will know me.
CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? When my first words are “I’m hungry” Change in my life— Can you hear me call for help? Can you feel my pain on what is going on? Instead of turning the other way… Can you hear me ask for love instead of hate? Can you open your mind to what I am saying? Can you understand what’s in my heart— Can you hear me now? I am tired of wars. I am tired of closed doors. People are calling for help. Some may open up to listen. Why do others choose not to?
