National Nurses Week

Let’s take a moment to shine a spotlight on our incredible nurses at NWHS! Trisha Vicker’s words truly resonate – we’re incredibly fortunate to have such a remarkable group of individuals who not only tend to our client and patients’ needs but also look out for one another.

As National Nurses Week draws to a close, we want you to know that your dedication is cherished every single day. Your presence enriches our team beyond measure! We had the chance to chat with a few nurses about what their role means to them, and their responses were nothing short of heartwarming and inspiring.

Thank you for being an integral part of our family here at NWHS. Your compassion, dedication, and kindness make a world of difference, not just this week, but every day. We’re beyond grateful to have you on board!

On Thursday, May 9th, the West Salem Clinic hosted a Medical Career Fair in partnership with WorkSource, attracting a multitude of aspiring healthcare professionals and job seekers from the community. The event was a success, providing a platform for immediate engagement between potential employees and the clinic’s hiring team. The career fair featured on-the-spot interviews for a variety of open positions, ensuring that candidates had the opportunity to make a strong first impression. Positions available spanned several areas, including Information Technology (IT), Dental,

Community Health Workers, Medical Assisting, and a Physician Assistant role. To streamline the application process, the clinic set up a station where attendees could apply online during the event. This approach facilitated immediate applications, making the event not only a job fair but also an excellent hiring operation. Several employees seized the opportunity to update their professional headshots. A huge thank you goes out to all the team members who contributed to making this career fair a success.

Connectedness, Belonging & Mental Health Awareness

May is “Mental Health Awareness Month” and as we recognize this organizationally within our community, we also want to emphasize the importance of focusing on your own personal mental health and consider how Connectedness and Belonging impact you as an individual at home and in the workplace.

Social connectedness is the degree to which people have and perceive a desired number, quality, and diversity of relationships that create a sense of belonging, and being cared for, valued, and supported

Ways to Improve Social Connection

• Establish and maintain social connections

• Devote time and attention to develop and maintain relationships. Regular contact with others helps build social connectedness.

• Join a social group to connect with others. Being part of a group with shared interests, values, or goals can be rewarding and foster a sense of belonging.

Consider the support you give, receive, and have available

• Reach out to sources of support to help you through the tough times, even though it can be hard to ask for help sometimes. Members of your family or community, or colleagues at work can be sources of support

• Provide support to others—it can give them much-needed help, and make you feel good too!

Strengthen the quality of social connections

• Focus on building high-quality, strong, meaningful social connections.

• Find ways to be responsive, supportive, and grateful to others.

Address some of the barriers to social connection

• Take care of your health. Staying healthy allows you to connect with others socially and enjoy those connections.

• Don’t let technology distract you from engaging with people. Pay attention to ways it might make you feel worse about
