Verbs: Simple Present and Present Progressive (verb: enkel presens og presens samtidsform)

We use the simple present about facts and habits, about things we usually do. We use the present progressive about something that is happening right now. Read the examples below:

He makes a cake every week. He is making a cake as we speak. She plays basketball on Tuesday. She is playing basketball right now. My cat (it) sleeps all day long. It is sleeping here and now. We often sing in a choir. We are singing in a show at the moment. You practise the guitar day after day. You are practising now even if it’s a holiday. They read grammar rules to learn. They are reading all these rules in turn.
