First International Ex-libris Competition
Meeting in Vilnius 2010! www….lt This catalogue is introducing works from international ex-libris competition organized by Association of Culture Art and Science “Universumas”. The subject of competition is – “Meeting in Vilnius” - one of the European capitals and significance of this “Meeting” is a link between artist and the city itself. The venues of “Meeting” are architectural monuments, cultural events, celebrated personalities, other artists or just people and ideas that we “Meet” in the actual and virtual reality of Vilnius, everything that has connection with this city it’s culture, art and history. Artists were free to choose their own “Meeting” venues from supplied e-photo galleries that reflect life of Vilnius city. Competition received over 70 works made with traditional and modern techniques of 40 artists from all over the world. They were exhibited in Vilnius town hall and participated in continuing retrospectives around the country. Artistic interpretations of a subject “Meeting In Vilnius” have enriched our country’s ex-libris genre with an absorbing approach and form. And this has created a legacy and a great opportunity to “Meet” again, perhaps elsewhere, but nevertheless speaking the same universal language of art in the world of art...
