THE AUCKLEY TIMES Spring 2018 Nursey All the children had a fantastic day at our local Farm. We saw lots of sheep and their baby lambs. It was a wet, rainy day but all the children came prepared and had a great time jumping in the puddles. We were lucky enough to watch a live birth and we watched some of the lambs being bottle fed. Look at our amazing stick men! After reading this story, the children decided to make their own stick men. We went to the woods to collect our sticks. We made sure that we had a long one for his body and four short ones for his arms and legs. We even used leaves for his hair. This was so much fun! We love pancakes! On Pancake Day we had some delicious pancakes covered in our favourite toppings. Yum Yum!

This term, Year 1 have had lots of fun during our topic on ‘Animals’. We have learnt lots about the different features of animals, including humans, in Science and linked this into our Talk 4 Writing story topic where we learned the story ‘Can’t you sleep, Little Bear?’ and eventually wrote our own setting descriptions. We have been lucky enough to go on two exciting trips this term. The first was a trip to White Post Farm, where we saw many animals that had fur, feathers or scales and even got the chance to handle them! Just a week later, we took part in the Stan and Mabel: Race for Space production at CAST theatre. We enjoyed watching the show, with some of our parents, and singing the songs that we had been practicing at school. World Book Day was an eventful day at Auckley School with the snowy weather but we still managed to make it to school in our fantastic costumes to celebrate Roald Dahl’s characters and participate in various activities surrounding our book choice of ‘The Enormous Crocodile’. We can’t wait for what the summer term brings!
