Welcome to the March issue of the

Branton & AuckLey Arrow The first signs of spring are upon us with the glorious sound of the birds singing in the morning and the long awaited splash of colour from the daffodils. The seasons give us hope as we sense life around us changing and Spring brings evidence of new life and energy, encouraging us to feel optimistic for the future. We are so lucky to have so many lovely walks around our villages where Spring can be experienced to the full. In addition to our lovely walks, we have lots of other news of events taking place throughout March to keep everyone entertained. Be sure to catch the Artisan Craft Fayre at Yorkshire Hive or the easter egg hunt at Boston Park Farm to name but a few. Auckley Parish Council are looking for ideas for the Hayfield Park, so please register your interest and comments if you have something to offer. Cantley with Branton Parish Council have volunteer opportunities if you would like to get more involved in helping to support your village. The 2024 Auckley Show plans are well underway and the committee have advertised their list of classes in this month’s Arrow so you can get planning for the show too! The April issue deadline for adverts and content is Friday 15th March. The Arrow will be delivered by 1st April 2024.

Best wishes

Community News THANK YOU Just wanted to say a special thank you to David Chorlton, who has recently resigned as Chair of Cantley with Branton Parish Council. David, who lives in Branton, joined the Parish Council in May 2015 and has volunteered his time and efforts to this role for the past 9 years. David has always worked in the back ground, ensuring decisions were challenged and understood, which is a critical part of being a Parish Councillor. David has helped to make the parish a better place to live for all residents and has had an instrumental part in many projects such as the ongoing development of Kilham Park and MUGA, the extension of the hall, Christmas lights, organising the Christmas pantomime, litter pick group, solar panel project and many other activities the PC has been involved in over the years. In addition to this, he has represented the PC at external groups as well as the Kilham Hall Management Committee and always provided support to his fellow Parish Councillor’s and committee members where needed. It is great news that David will continue as Secretary to Kilham Hall Management Committee on a voluntary basis. Thank you for your hard work and commitment, you have had an incredible impact on the well being of the parish and I am sure, you will be missed.

DONCASTER CANCER DETECTION TRUST Here we are, into Spring…hurrah! While wai ng for the be er weather, we had an exci ng day out last month when we were invited, along with other organisa ons, to see the Intui ve Da Vinci Xi robot at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. We were all encouraged to have ‘hands on’ experience with the robot which was fascina ng. Chief Execu ve Richard Parker OBE said: “Robo c surgery will soon become part of the core curriculum for surgeons and, without the robot, we could lose the ability to train some specialist surgical trainees.” Consultant surgeon Antonia Durham-Hall said: “As improvements are made in the early diagnosis of cancers it is extremely important that advancements are also made in how we treat them, so pa ents can go on to have a good quality of life post cancer surgery.” DRI are also wri ng a piece about us in their in-house magazine “Founda ons for Health” so watch out for this if you are visi ng the hospital. It will also men on our latest acquisi on the Fibroscanner which we donated recently to help in the diagnosis of liver disease. On Saturday, 23rd March Sprotbrough Library are having a cra fair from 10am to 12 noon. We will have a stall selling good quality donated jewellery including rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. There will be a variety of stalls so come along and grab a bargain! If you have any fundraising ideas we would be very pleased to hear from you. Our details are: 22 Wood Street, Doncaster DN1 3LW (entrance by the side of Kerry Gough Florists), first floor (li available), Room 104. Tel. 01302 325029. Email: info@dcdt.co.uk. Website: dcdt.co.uk. As the office is not fully manned it is best to Email or telephone in advance if you are thinking of coming to see us. As we o en men on, it is only through the generosity of local residents and organisa ons that enable us to donate cancer-related equipment to our local hospitals. In turn, this benefits local people. We cannot thank you all enough.
