After two long and very quiet years in the library, Rhyme Time is back at Arlesey Resource Centre. I can not tell you how excited I was to be running my first session! Sadly, due to Covid, groups and singing had to stop and it has taken until now to get up and running again. Plus a little longer delay due to me having a broken ankle!.

As I walked to the library on Wednesday morning, I chatted to anyone with a small child and cheerily told them that Rhyme Time was back and starting today! I think they were a little bemused but some smiled and said 'see you there later' some wished me luck and a few asked for more information, which of course I was happy to provide. Then at the library I had a lovely little group gathering, I think I was definitely more excited than the children and Mums who were getting ready to start.

I have to admit to being a little nervous, I had run through my session at home singing to the teddies and toys I use in the session! Reminding myself of the words and the actions to each of the rhymes. However, it came back to me as soon as I started to sing the Welcome Song and watched the children enthusiastically clapping along to the songs and rhymes. Seeing the children smiling and hearing them joining in with their lovely voices was so lovely and uplifting. Hearing the giggles, watching Mums and carers taking pictures of smiling children, passing the bag around for the children to learn about taking turns and to choose a toy to sing about, makes me smile now thinking about it.

Then the final song, a favourite of most at Rhyme Time, good old Peek-a-boo and then some free time to play with the multi coloured scarves. It was fantastic to watch the children playing and hiding under the scarves, one little girl just sat in the middle of the floor and all the other children entertained her with the scarves, covering her and saying boo. She loved it, her broad smile didn't need any words.

So, I have just finished my fourth session and I am very happy to say that people came back! Some new people have joined and we are ready and waiting for even more new babies/children/Mums and carers. I am even happier when I get told that a few of the children were singing the rhymes at home and were looking forward to coming again. Can you tell, I LOVE Rhyme Time. Marie
