evolution of the working chair

THE REMOTE WORK IS CONSTANTLY INCREASING

According to Hann in 2023 12.7% of full-time employees work remotely, with Upwork predicting that 32.6 million Americans, or 22% of the workforce, will work remotely by 2025. This trend is driven by advancements in technology and a growing desire for flexibility and work-life balance.

WHY OFFICE CHAIRS EXISTS?

It’s demonstrated, working stand up have many benefits. However, standing all day is not the best option either. According to Mc Connell you should incorporate both into your workday for health benefits and comfort.

WHY PEOPLE ARE GOING TO WORK STAND UP?

According to the American College of Healthcare Sciences, standing up while working can boost your health and productivity.

WHATS NEXT?

Standing for more than 3-4 hours can cause mental fatigue. Consider a half-way option like a stool. Also, you can’t stand and wobble all day, every day. Give your muscles a break with an ergonomic office chair.

Since we are going to work more and more at home with some technologies like virtual and augmented reality, it is not necessary that we be completely seated all the time. So designing a product that changes shape according to the position you

want to stay in can be a solution. This way, individuals can switch between sitting and standing positions effortlessly, promoting better posture and reducing the negative effects of prolonged sitting or standing.

M-metal AM systems

M-Systems offers a turnkey solution for WAAM, enabling high-quality, medium-to-large-scale metal parts printing at significantly lower costs compared to powder-based and laser-based 3D printing methods.

Wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) is a technique used in Direct Energy Deposition (DED) to 3D print or repair metal components by depositing layers on top.

DED technology offers multi-material capabilities, enabling custom alloy creation and stronger material properties by mixing wires or powders during the building process, resulting in a gradient between materials.

An overview of the directed energy deposition procedure is given below:

1. A 4-5 axis arm rotates a nozzle around a stationary object.

2. The nozzle is used to force material through, adding it to already-existing substrates.

3. When the material is deposited, it is melted using a laser, plasma arc, or electron beam.

4. Layer by layer, more material is added as required.

Programmable Foam

Programmable Foam® offers more than just 3D-printed foam substitutes. Its additive manufacturing features include a gyroid infill structure, softer zones for reduced pressure points, washable and hygienic qualities, superior airflow, sustainable production, waste-free production, and economical production.

Material extrusion is an additive manufacturing technique that uses a continuous filament of composite or thermoplastic material to build 3D parts layer by layer. This method is popular for home hobby-grade use and is inexpensive, making it the most popular 3D printing method. In industrial settings, it is used for rapid prototyping. The filament is fed from a spool through a heated extruding nozzle.

Here’s how the material extrusion procedure functions:

1. A heated nozzle deposits material into a build platform to create the first cross sectional slice of the final object.

2. Further layers are added as required, with each layer fusing with the last either as a result of temperature control or through the use of chemical agents.

VEGEA tracts the bio-oil from the grape seeds, and polymerizes all of the grape materials.

VEGEA, a biomaterials company, has developed a plantbased alternative to animal leather using agricultural waste from Italian wineries. The material, made from recycled grape waste, eliminates the harmful processes of traditional animal leather production, offering a luxurious, cruelty-free alternative.

VEGEA Production Process:

Step 1: Source Leftover Wine: Vegea purchases grape skins, seeds, and stalks from Italian wineries. They used these as their winemaking leftovers.

Step 2: Extract Bio-Oils: Vegea dries the other grape materials, ex-

Step 3: Add Natural Fibres: A soft, textured, plant-based leather is produced by combining natural fibers with dried grape materials and bio-oils.

Step 4: Final Good: Numerous global brands, such as Bentley, Calvin Klein, H&M, and Diadora, have adopted Vegea. What are you going to make?
