A LEGACY THAT INSPIRES GENERATIONS
In Memory of Mr. Farouk Yousuf Almoayyed

His life was a testament to quiet ambition and consistent action.
With deep respect and heartfelt remembrance, we honour the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of our Chairman, Mr. Farouk Yousuf Almoayyed. His passing marks not only the end of an era but also the celebration of a life that shaped the business landscape of Bahrain and left a lasting imprint on generations to come.
His was a life defined by vision, discipline, and a strong commitment to progress. Under his leadership, Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons evolved into one of Bahrain’s most trusted business groups. He saw opportunity where others saw risk, and led with clarity, prudence, and compassion, touching countless lives with his quiet generosity and unwavering values.

Foundations of Leadership
Born on 26 May 1944 in Manama’s historic Fareej Al Fadhel neighbourhood, Mr. Farouk was the eldest of seven children. From an early age, he worked alongside his father, the late Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed, at his shop in the old Manama Souq - absorbing not only the spirit of entrepreneurship but also the values of humility, service, and responsibility. After earning a degree in mechanical engineering from Loughborough University in the UK, he returned to Bahrain in the late 1960s, full of purpose and ambition, ready to expand the family business.
Bold Steps for a Bright Future
Under Mr. Farouk’s visionary guidance, Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons experienced expansive growth. He secured strategic partnerships with global brands and diversified the company into new sectors, ensuring resilience and relevance in a rapidly changing world.
In 1968, he secured the Nissan (then Datsun) dealership - a pivotal milestone in the company’s journey. His foresight was further demonstrated when he swiftly brought in brands like Ignis and Clem after General Electric exited the electrical goods market. In 1972, he introduced Toshiba to the Bahraini marketan early example of his keen eye for emerging global trends and his ability to bring innovation home.
This same forward-thinking approach would guide him through the decades that followed, as he led the group’s evolution with thoughtful deliberation and consistent vision.
In 1994, he acquired Ashraf’s, one of Bahrain’s leading retail distributors. Following the passing of his father

in 1996, Mr. Farouk assumed the Chairmanship of Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons and soon led the development of Almoayyed Tower - a 47-storey landmark in Seef that stands as a symbol of his forward-looking leadership. He also established Almoayyed Contracting Group, expanding from the group’s air-conditioning division, into one of the leading contractors in civil and electromechanical contracting in the region.
Beyond Business
Mr. Farouk’s influence reached far beyond the boardroom. He was a figure of national significance - bridging the worlds of enterprise, education, and public service with unwavering dedication and quiet strength.
He served as Chairman of numerous entities, including the National Bank of Bahrain, Bahrain Duty Free, Gulf Hotels Group, and Bahrain National Holding. Equally committed to public service and education, he chaired the boards of Ibn Khuldoon National School and Ahlia University, and contributed significantly to national bodies such as the Economic Development Board, the LMRA, and the Shura Council. Internationally, he provided counsel to institutions like Harvard University’s Institute for Social and Economic Policy and Georgetown University’s Centre for Contemporary Arab Studies.
Despite his many accolades, Mr. Farouk remained a man of humility. He supported initiatives across

education, healthcare, and social welfare - not for recognition, but out of a deep sense of duty.
In 2019, he was honoured with the Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship’s Lifetime Achievement Award under the patronage of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He also received the Medal of Civil Merit from HM King Felipe VI of Spain - the highest civilian honour

bestowed by the Spanish Crown - in recognition of his role in strengthening Bahraini-Spanish relations.
A Lasting Legacy
Mr. Farouk leaves behind more than just a thriving enterprise - he leaves a compass of values, a standard of integrity, and a deeply rooted belief in service to others. His devotion to family, his thoughtful leadership, and his commitment to the greater good are woven into the very fabric of Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons. He passed on to his family the values that guided his life - humility, discipline, and a deep sense of purpose in serving both his country and others.
As we move forward with gratitude, carrying his legacy as both a responsibility and a testament to what is possible with vision and values, may his memory continue to inspire us all, and may his life remain a source of strength for generations to come.

Interview Excellence in Motion
Ensuring road safety and customer satisfaction is no small task, but Mohamed Abdulla Radhi manages it seamlessly at Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Light Vehicle Inspection Centres (LVIC) in Sitra and Janabiyah. At the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT)-approved facilities, Mohamed plays a crucial role in keeping operations smooth and efficient. His approach to managing the Y.K. Almoayyed LVIC propelled the Sitra branch to being named the most preferred Inspection Centre in a recent GDT audit. In this insightful interview, Mohamed shares his experiences, the challenges of the job, and what makes Y.K. Almoayyed’s inspection centres stand out.
What motivated you to join the Y.K. Almoayyed LVIC?
With a National Diploma in Motor Vehicle Engineering, I joined Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons in 2011 as a technician and worked with different departments over the years. I first specialized in wheel alignment, then moved to the service department for maintenance and then moved to the pre delivery inspection division. Later, I transitioned to the inspection division, which was an exciting opportunity to be part of a new business within the company.
With my experience, I wanted to contribute to the company and the growth of the new inspection centre. Being one of the first members to join this new venture at Y.K. Almoayyed was a significant milestone for me. My background in inspection and my experience in vehicle inspection at GDT, helped me adapt quickly and support the success of the Y.K. Almoayyed LVIC when it was set up in Sitra.
What’s your approach to smoothly maintaining operations at the two Y.K. Almoayyed LVICs?
I’m based at the Sitra branch but also visit the Janabiyah branch when needed. If any issues arise, the team contacts me, and I ensure they’re handled quickly. Every morning, we review all reports to ensure everything is in order before submitting them to the General Directorate of Traffic.
I manage a team of 11 across both branches. We stay focused on our main job: vehicle inspections. The start and end of each month are our busiest times, so we make sure everything runs smoothly. Checking reports early helps us catch any issues before they become problems.
The company’s commitment to promoting a healthy worklife balance allows me to make the most of my time after work hours - whether it’s catching up with friends and family or focusing on my fitness at the gym.
What were the biggest challenges in setting up the Janabiyah branch?
The biggest challenge was meeting all the regulatory requirements. But with strong support from management and great teamwork, we were able to overcome it. My managers were especially supportive, which made a big difference. When the branch opened in October 2024, I was there for the first month to set everything up and make sure operations ran smoothly. Once everything was in place and running well, I transitioned back to my usual role.
Sitra was ranked as the most preferred site in the recent GDT audit. What, in your opinion, sets the Y.K. Almoayyed LVIC apart from others in Bahrain?
What sets Y.K. Almoayyed LVIC apart is the company’s commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and focus on customer satisfaction. We ensure high-quality service while strictly following safety standards, and we use modern equipment to make the inspection process efficient.
At the Sitra branch, we handle a large number of customers, including fleet vehicles and individual car owners, and we ensure everyone receives top-notch service. Our inspection process is fast—it usually takes just five to ten minutes. Our team works efficiently, keeping things running smoothly.
Being ranked as the most preferred site in the GDT audit shows that customers leave happy and satisfied. We constantly take feedback and look for ways to improve. We even ask customers to rate their experience so we can keep enhancing our services.
What is your long-term vision for the Y.K. Almoayyed LVICs’ growth?
Our long-term vision is to expand our network of inspection centres across Bahrain, improve efficiency through advanced technology and automation, and stay ahead of mobility changes. This will help us maintain our position as the most trusted choice for vehicle inspections.
Training is also a key part of our growth. We receive training from the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT), spending about a month learning from their experts. GDT inspectors also visit our centre regularly to provide guidance and answer any questions we have.
One of the most valuable things we’ve learned is how to handle customers professionally. Sometimes, customers arrive frustrated or confused, but we know how to communicate with them in a way that makes them feel heard and reassured. Our goal is to ensure every customer is satisfied.
