HORSEASSOCATION

![]()

Welcome to the heritage of the Arabian horse. Where the beauty, athleticism, and heart of the oldest pure breed of horse in the world comes to life. Whether you are a show enthusiast, an active trail or distance rider or simply enjoy spending time with horses, the Arabian is perfect for every discipline, age, and adventure. AHA is a full-service breed association and registry. We offer a variety of activities, programs, competitions, and opportunities for you to explore. We are happy to welcome you to the Arabian horse Community!
The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) was formed in 2003, as the result of a merger of the Arabian Horse Registry of America (founded in 1908) and the International Arabian Horse Association (founded in 1950). The purpose of formulating AHA was to create an organization of like-minded Arabian horse enthusiasts, and provide a focal point for their favorite recreational or competitive activities. AHA is the official Arabian horse breed association and registry in the U.S. and Canada, with 14,000+ members and more than one million registered Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo- Arabian horses. The AHA Registry was created in 1908 and was formerly known as the Arabian Horse Registry of America.
As a full-service non-profit breed association, AHA seeks to meet the breeding, competitive and recreational interests of all Arabian horse owners. We offer over 280 events and competitions and have the largest online marketplace, bringing enthusiasts together to share the joys of Arabian horse ownership. We administer approximately one million in annual prize money, produce national events, maintain official event records and provide activities and programs that promote breeding and ownership.
At AHA’s Annual Convention, delegates from 18 geographical regions meet annually to elect officers and other governing bodies, and vote on rules thataffect the Arabian horse industry. Our Executive Committee and
Board of Directors represent the interests of Arabian horse owners throughout the U.S. and Canada.
AHA supports the efforts of the US Equestrian and the US Center for SafeSport to provide a program, information, and a reporting and investigation process to protect our Junior Exhibitors and Amateurs from abuse, including sexual, emotional, and physical misconduct, as well as bullying, harassment, and hazing.
AHA is responsible for appointing 33% of the USEF Arabian Rules Committee and recommending an additional 33% while USEF appoints the remaining 33%. The appointees will be decided on by the AHA President, with consult of the current Chair of the USEF Arabian Rules Committee, the Executive Director of the Arabian Horse Association will choose the members of USEF Arabian Rules Committee, the proposed membership will require approval of the Executive Committee of the Arabian Horse Association prior to submission to USEF.
A portion of the AHA appointees for the USEF Arabian Rules Committee , currently 33%, are required to be athletes. An athlete is defined as a competitor who has competed within the last 10 years at any AHA National Championship (exception: Canadian Nationals) and has placed in the top 10.

The Arabian Horse Association exists for growth in the number of people having a passion to own and enjoy the Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horse
• growth in the interest in, and demand for the Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horse;
• preservation of the integrity of the breed;
• increased participation in activities involving the Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horse;
• recognition by the equine industry and general public about the value and attributes of the Arabian, HalfArabian and Anglo-Arabian horse; and
• ensure services and benefits that are valuable and convenient for the AHA members

Lisa Blackstone graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in Philosophy. She transitioned financial world as a stockbroker and a decade later returned to law school and earned a legal degree alma mater. She now has her own law practice in the Atlanta area, and is a founding member of the Section of the Georgia Bar. Lisa began riding horses as a child, learning the fundamentals of horsemanship, judging and showing. She then operated a family-owned Arabian horse training and breeding business 1980s and 1990s. Lisa continues to compete as an amateur on a local, regional and national level. holds her Arabian judges license and regularly judges some of the industry’s largest shows. She is participant in the political process governing equine sport. Besides serving as Vice President of the currently Chair of the USEF Ethics Committee, co-Chair of the USEF Hearing Committee, and sits on Licensed Officials Committee.
I became involved with Arabian horses in the early 1980s. After moving to Arizona, began researching breeding Arabian horses and then eventually showing them in the Dressage and Sport Horse disciplines. 33-year career at the nation’s largest nuclear plant allowed me to progress through the construction, and operational periods for all three units. Additionally, I progressed from front line to supervisory agerial levels in online work management while at the same time performing collateral duties of Performance Improvement Manager, Corrective Action Manager, Budget preparation/reporting, development and mentation of Department Metrics and development and implementation of the 12-week integrated process at the plant. At the same time, I worked in increasingly responsible volunteer roles at the AHA and regional levels. I currently sit on the boards of the Arabian Horse Association, Arabian Jockey Club Purebred Arabian Trust.
Chairman and founder, Peter Conway, established HALCON in 1977 with a desire to produce the best furniture in the industry. HALCON’s continued success is rooted firmly in a culture of quality, innovation a commitment to long-term partnerships with clients, suppliers, and employees. Today, we are an ning, family-owned and operated company with a passion for excellence. Peter and his wife Lori own operate Conway Arabians. Their mission is “We have a clear vision of what our Arabian horses should Strong, sound athletes that are beautiful to behold and a pleasure to be around. Merely being pretty enough; the horses of Conway Arabians are doing horses, bred to have the conformation and temperament to perform in the show-ring or on the trail”.
Besides the current Treasurers position, I have held multiple positions in the horse industry. I have extensive background with the financial operations of the Arabian Horse Association from the club influences to the National level shows as well as AHA events. I have instituted numerous guidelines two years to protect our financials and increase our income. I graduated from Syracuse University schoolteacher for 4 years before purchasing my business which I have run for over 30 years and of semi-retired. My wife Debby and I have owned, shown, and bred Arabian and Half Arabians horses 40 years and currently have 6 horses at our farm. Both of our children participated in showing as well activities prior to starting their careers. We have been fortunate to have won numerous championships levels of showing.
I have been a member since the early 70s. I became an Arabian person with the acquisition of a Half-Arabian mare who was actually given to me. Receiving both a Bachelor in Ag Management & Masters in Ag from Cali Poly Pomona, I currently sit on the Presidents Advisory Committee for the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center at that University. Whilst I spent 20 years in the printing industry, I have always pursued passion in the horse industry as a judge, licensed official and volunteer. Currently, I run a boutique business that caters to a small clientele, while also working in show management for approximately a year in all divisions, including Morgans, Saddlebreds, Hunter/Jumper.
For me, life with horses began in 1975, and my passion for the Arabian horse in 1979. Servant leadership, the Arabian Horse Association, was always a core passion and happily started 1989. Academically an MA in Speech Communication and BS in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, My passion for competition as a youth, amateur and professional remains to this day. Additionally, adjudicating many of our shows at all levels of competition. Today, I own and operate Reno-Tahoe Centre, Inc. RTEC is a business that actively cultivates new people to equines and ultimately the Arabian industry. We have a large active clientele that spans from entry to National Championship levels. With years as a self-employed professional in our industry I am honored to continue to mentor future profession als and students in our breed.

Registration increases the value of your horse, makes it more marketable and opens the door to many local, regional and national activities available to registered horses. When you register an Arabian, Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian horse, it becomes part of the official breed and an official breed statistic used to make national decisions about open space, insurance coverage and other issues important to horse-owning communities. Honor the Arabian breed through registration.
The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) serves as the official registry for both purebred Arabian horses and Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horses. It contains more horses than any other Arabian registry in the world! This registry is used to track the Arabian heritage and is a resource for breeders, riders, competitions, and so much more.
Registration provides key benefits. To begin, registration honors the legacy of a horse whose roots may go back thousands of years and allows for its offspring to qualify for registration. From a practical standpoint, certificates of registration add marketability and make a horse eligible to:
• Compete at more than 245 AHA-recognized shows and distance rides annually
• Earn recognition through many AHA-sponsored programs
• Enter programs that showcase breeding and have the potential to earn prize money such as Halter Futurity, Performance Futurity/ Maturity/Derby futurities, and Arabian Breeders Sweepstakes
• Increase a horse’s value through registration in a recognized breed registry
• Participate in racing at many tracks across the United States
• Another great feature is that Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horses can often be double-registered, allowing participation in activities at AHA and other breed organizations

Researching pedigrees is an honored tradition among Arabian horse owners and breeders who value the historic bloodlines of this oldest and purest breed. The Arabian Horse DataSource, an online service that offers full pedigrees and progeny listings for 692,000 Purebred Arabians; 386,000 Half- and Anglo-Arabians and 416,600 Arabians from foreign registries.
Starting December 1, 2025, a new USEF rule will go into effect for all breeds ; under GR 1101.10, all horses competing in USEF-licensed or -endorsed competitions must be microchipped with a 15-digit ISO compliant 11784/11785 chip.
The update to your horse’s AHA record is offered at no cost to you. This information can also be printed on your Certificate of Registration if you choose for only $20 (member rate). The owner must still submit this information to USEF.
Starting January 1, 2026, all Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horses with a Purebred Arabian parent will require DNA testing for registration.
Why? Just as your Purebred Arabian’s parentage is verified and valued, confirming your Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian’s lineage ensures the identity and legacy of your horse. This simple step helps protect your horse’s heritage and gives you confidence in the accuracy of its registration, because every horse deserves to have its story told correctly.
They say that all you need to do is Meet an Arabian Horse to fall in love! Well, that is what we at the Arabian Horse Association believe and we encourage all of our members to host their own event! These events can be anything from having an open house at your barn, to taking a horse to a school, a retirement facility, or even a tractor supply or feed store. We encourage all of our members to help share the love of the Arabian Horse.
If you’ve never encountered an Arabian horse up close, start your adventure by visiting a Discovery Farm. This unique program offers you the opportunity to explore Arabian horses at farms where knowledgeable owners are delighted to introduce you to their horses and answer questions in a relaxed, no-pressure, non-sales atmosphere. You’ll learn all about the breed characteristics, and gain firsthand knowledge of what makes this breed truly special. There are hundreds of Discovery Farms across the country, and you can easily locate one near you at www.ArabianHorses.org/discover
Attend a national Arabian horse show and get the exclusive backstage experience! Learn about horses and Arabians, see them at work up close. An exciting and new opportunity for adults and kids alike. For upcoming schedules visit www.ArabianHorses.org/tail
AHA members participate in a number of community outreach events across the United States. Events are hosted by local barns and clubs to encourage community members to interact and engage with Arabian horses to create curiosity and interest in taking the next steps forward of participating in riding programs, horse ownership and other activities. A list of event locations can be found at www.ArabianHorses.org/ discover

AHA awards more than $1 million in prize money annually through the Breeders Sweepstakes, Halter Futurities and Performance Futurity/Maturity/ Derby Programs. If you are a serious breeder committed to creating competitive horses, these programs allow you to showcase your yearlings, on up through your aged horses before Regional and National audiences. Halter Futurity winners can win thousands of dollars in just one class during their three-year-old year. Horses enrolled as Breeding Entries are eligible to win prize money at the Regional and National level for their entire life.

If setting and surpassing benchmarks motivates you, there are many competitive venues for Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horses across the country from grassroots schooling shows to national championship shows and distance rides. AHA approves nearly 280 shows and distance rides annually, in which you can compete, earn points toward recognition awards and Sweepstakes prize money.
From the ancient deserts of the Middle East evolved the oldest known breed of riding horse, the Arabian. Now one of the most popular breeds in America, the Arabian’s incredible energy, intelligence and gentle disposition allow riders to excel in most equine sports and activities. Today, Arabian horses spend as much time on the trail as they do at horse shows and other competitive events.
Historically, the Arabian was a war horse capable of withstanding the extreme conditions of the Arabian Desert and covering long distances, while moving quickly in and out of battle.
The traits that were bred into the Arabian through ancient times created a versatile horse that is not only a beautiful breed, but one that excels at many activities.
In the show ring, the Arabian is exceptional in English and Western pleasure competition. The Arabian is well known for his balance and agility. Combined with his high intelligence and skillful footwork, he is more than capable in driving and reining events. For speed, agility and gracefulness, you’ll want an Arabian.
