5 questions for Ruud Veldwijk

Typically our Team: Uniformity

A talk with F1-driver

Fisichella

The end of 2024 is quickly approaching, which means it is once again time to take a moment to reflect together on the exciting year we've had and to look ahead at what the future will bring us. This past year has been all about collaboration, prevention and compliance with work methods. It has become clear just how much we can achieve when we all work together! Still, we depend on market demand. That is why the flexibility in terms of skills that our organisation possesses is invaluable.

Employee Satisfaction Survey

Our people are our most valuable commodity! With the ESS (Employee Satisfaction Survey), the vitality programmes and various other initiatives, we aim to show you how much you mean to us. We will be sharing the results of the ESS in the months to come. They provide a valuable starting point for improvement. The only way to be successful – personally and as a company – is by working together. Our mission is to create a safe, efficient and sustainable work environment in which everyone can thrive. Your voice matters. Together, we will build a future in which we continue to grow and listen to each other.

(Social) Safety

In 2024, we have taken steps to integrate safety and quality into our daily operations to an ever greater degree. The restructuring of the HSE department underscores the importance of both physical and social safety. For example, our confidential adviser and company social worker are there to provide assistance if and when needed. After all, safety is about more than following the rules; it is about caring for each other. You can read more about this in this edition of Band. In a similar vein, quality is a core tenet of our entire production process. Across our entire organisation, November is Quality Month! This annual tradition highlights the importance of quality, which is one of our company's core values. We see quality not merely as a yardstick for our products, but also as a responsibility we all share.

Our plant

There have been several important developments at our plant this year. Under the supervision of Gerald Gerrits, the Technical Engineering department continues to drive innovation and process improvements. Owing to their expertise and dedication, our production process rests on a solid foundation. The Uniformity department also plays a key role in this. It is the final link in delivering top-quality products to our clients. In this edition of Band, members of both departments reveal more about what their team does.

Happy holidays!

Besides challenges, this past year also had some amazing highlights. One of these was the production of the Ultrac Pro, and the impressive performance of this tyre. That is why I want to conclude by thanking you. Your tireless efforts and dedication to our plant make all the difference, so thank you for that! Together, we can overcome any challenge. I wish you all wonderful holidays, a fantastic end to the year and a fresh start in 2025. Let's toast to a successful new year together!

Food bank event

For the third year running, we are organising a food bank event at our plant and R&D in Enschede as part of our corporate social responsibility efforts. Together, we collect non-perishable food items for the Enschede-Haaksbergen food bank. The importance of the food bank cannot be overstated: many people in our region live below the poverty line and depend on this aid to provide daily healthy meals for themselves and their families. The food bank not only offers food, but also hope and support during trying times. As an organisation, we are happy to contribute to this important cause. Thanks to all of you on behalf of the food bank. Together, we can make a difference!

Healthy working: prevent injuries with ergonomic advice

Good posture is essential in order to do your job in a safe and healthy manner. As a company, we want to do everything we can to help you with this. In November, the company physical therapists of Fysik organised a practical session for the staff of our PCT Vulcanisation department. During this session, they shared useful tips to minimise the risk of injuries or prevent them altogether. Think of e.g. tucking in your elbows and using your core muscles. Avoid working with arms extended and elbows raised at or over shoulder level. This can lead to unnecessary strain. With the company physical therapist's help, we want to provide a safe and healthy work environment. If you have any questions about your posture or need advice about the specific actions you perform at your station, contact Eric Steinvoort. Together, we can find ways to help you do your job as ergonomically as possible!

Vredestein Ultrac and Quatrac: Best in test in their class

Vredestein celebrates major successes with two top-of-the-line products: the Ultrac and the Quatrac. The Ultrac achieved first place in the esteemed summer tyre test of Auto Express. With its impressive performances on wet roads, a refined driving experience and low rolling resistance, the tyre beat out seven major competitors. The testers not only praised the Ultrac's driving characteristics and brake performances, but also its low noise level and affordable price, all of which ultimately earned the Ultrac the ‘Best buy’ label. Earlier this year, the Quatrac was chosen as the best all-season tyre by Auto Bild. With its excellent grip and short brake distances on dry, wet and snowy roads, this tyre demonstrated its versatility. The extensive test conditions – ranging from Germany to the New Zealand Alps – further underscored the Quatrac's unrivalled performances. Both tyres are proof of Vredestein's innovative strength and reaffirm their leading role in various segments of the European tyre market.

Workplace visit by physicians

At our plant in Enschede, much physically demanding work is done every day. It is therefore all the more important to be mindful of vitality. In addition to various changes and vitality programmes, the workplace is also visited every two months by the company physician, company physical therapist and OHS nurse. These visits are crucially important: by seeing for themselves what activities our employees perform, they are better able to assess the risks and help prevent work-related injuries and illnesses. Their presence not only contributes to our employees’ physical health, but also to their long-term wellbeing. Furthermore, the easy interaction during these workplace visits strengthens the collaboration and stimulates preventative solutions, which ensure that our people remain sustainably deployable and can continue to perform their various demanding tasks.

Technical Engineering:

the driving force behind production process improvements

Within the tyre production organisation, the Technical Engineering department plays an important role when it comes to the continuity and improvement of production processes. Under the supervision of Gerald Gerrits, Manager Technical Engineering since November 2020, a team of 13 engineers works tirelessly every day to provide technical support and modernise and optimise installations and processes. This department is characterised by involvement, flexibility and craftsmanship. Or, as Gerald proudly adds: ‘Proud of my team.’

Gerald Gerrits

A versatile department

Technical Engineering is one of the three pillars of Plant Engineering, together with Utilities and Maintenance Engineering, and it is responsible for a wide variety of activities. Gerald says that diversity makes the work so unique and dynamic: ‘No two days are ever the same. It’s anything from performing modifications to existing installations in machines and buildings. We also manage CAPEX projects for new machines, large-scale retrofits and innovative modifications.’ The department is also responsible for installations and provides support to other departments, such as Maintenance and Production. Gerald: ‘We also assist with technical malfunctions when some extra expertise is required and we take the lead during technical improvement projects.’ Furthermore, the department plays an important role in the standardisation of documents and components, manages the support system and laptops and oversees engineering processes that are subject to audits. ‘We have our fingers in a lot of pies,’ Gerald concludes.

A network of collaboration

The work done by the Technical Engineering department is as versatile as it is challenging. Gerald says that diversity is what makes his job so fascinating. Gerald: ‘Besides orders from internal clients, such as modifying controls or improving KPIs, the department also handles its own projects. An important example of this is modernising installations to prepare for the future. ‘The market around us is developing rapidly. Components become outdated and are no longer available. We are engineering our way toward the future,’ Gerald explains. The Technical Engineering department collaborates very closely with other departments in the plant. Technical Engineering maintains close contact with virtually all colleagues and plays a crucial role in bringing together production,

maintenance and quality control. The team can count on support from external parties, such as independent contractors, companies and Apollo Corporate Projects & Engineering. After a reorganisation, the department no longer has all requisite expertise and resources available in house, which means it is occasionally necessary to bring in outside experts.

Proud

The Technical Engineering department consists of two sub-teams. The engineers form the heart of the department and they focus on modifications and projects. System/Doc Engineering manages

for SAP and automation support and overseeing required work. This structure allows the department to flexibly and efficiently accommodate the plant's needs. What makes Technical Engineering unique is its combination of technical expertise, comprehensive responsibilities and a strong sense of collaboration. Gerald describes his department in three words: ‘involved, flexible and knowledgeable’. There is a fourth word he likes to add: pride. ‘People come to us for technical expertise and challenges. What we do matters and that makes our work so valuable.’ Technical Engineering is more than a support department. It drives

our engineering systems, such as DMS, Ultimo and CAD, and keeps documentation up to date, while a separate team is responsible

innovation, optimises processes and helps the plant get ready for the future.

‘People come to us for technical expertise, challenges, standards and certifications. Our team is standing by around the clock to jump in and lend a hand.’ " "

HSE new name, familiar focus on health and safety

New HSE brochures

The HSE brochures have been updated. Jurre: ‘Our brochures collect all relevant information concerning Health, Safety & Environment for our plant. They contain important information for employees and external parties to ensure people can do their jobs in a safe, healthy and environmentally conscious manner. That is our #1 priority, of course. Besides the name change from SHE to HSE, the brochures have been revised to comply with the Apollo Tyres corporate style. Their contents have been updated to make them more accessible and relevant.’

Handy LMRA cards

To stimulate safe work methods, the Technical Service department has developed LMRA (Last-Minute Risk Analysis) cards. Jurre: ‘These cards contain ten brief questions that an employee can quickly run through before starting their activities to guarantee everyone's

At Apollo Tyres NL, health, safety and the environment always come first. We recently implemented several important changes with regard to HSE. For example, our SHE department was renamed HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) as part of a global reorganisation. The goal is to achieve uniformity and a stronger sense of international collaboration. We asked Jurre Hanstede, Safety & Environment Officer plant Enschede, to tell us more about the developments in the HSE department and how these affect our day-today operations.

safety. These cards replace the old cumbersome document and make safety checks practical and immediately applicable on the floor. We are also exploring ways to implement LMRA throughout the entire organisation.’

HSE-ATQM platform

The HSE and Quality department has its own platform, which contains everything related to Health, Safety, Environment & Quality. Jurre: ‘Employees can use this platform to access tools, links and documents such as the Toxic Registry, our Company Emergency Plan and the PPE matrix. You can also complete a Safety interaction, find a link to our standard operation procedures and access ATQM tools such as RCA, 5S and 5W1H, which help us to continuously improve and achieve our goals.’

Innovative safety app

HSE is always improving and innovating. Jurre: ‘One such innovation is the implementation of an app that checks the critical safety mechanisms of our machines. With this app, users can check whether a machine's safety mechanisms are functioning properly. The app is currently being tested successfully in the SM department and it promises to be a valuable new safety tool.’

"‘With these initiatives, we keep working on a safe, healthy and sustainable work environment in which continuous improvement is our main focus. Together, we make sure safety always comes first.’

Growing and Learning at Apollo Tyres NL

Meet a young talent

For many young people, temporary employment serves as a springboard toward new experiences and a way to explore different fields. Such is the case for Julian Snellink, who has been working at Apollo Tyres NL via Randstad for over two and a half years now. At the age of twenty, he has already acquired an impressive amount of work experience. In this interview, he shares his story.

At Plant Enschede, Julian works as a builder with the Space Masters, where he works diligently with this specific production line. Eighteen months ago, he also started working night shifts and the ‘maxxen’ on weekends. It is a physically demanding job, but that suits him fine, he says: ‘I like to be active and it is nice to keep moving.’

Vapro A programme

At age fourteen, he started his career as an intern in the hospitality sector via a practical education programme. After working in that sector for two years, he got a job delivering pizzas for Domino's. At 18, his father, colleague Marco

Snellink, gave him the opportunity to join him at Apollo Tyres NL. Here, he found a challenging environment that pushes him to keep learning and developing. Julian is currently enrolled in the Vapro A programme to learn more about our production processes. This programme takes up about five hours of his time every week. He is grateful for the opportunity he has been given via Randstad and Apollo Tyres: ‘It is a fascinating programme that is easy to combine with my work and my personal life. You learn the intricacies of how everything works and it changes how you look at the machines. Not just that they work, but also how and why.’

Professional development

He sees great value in the training opportunities that Apollo Tyres offers: ‘In a plant, you constantly have to incorporate new knowledge and rules. Training programmes ensure you do not stagnate. You keep growing, which also makes your work safer and more efficient.’ When asked about his future, Julian says that he would like to stay on at Apollo. His ultimate dream job will probably have something to do with engineering. The opportunities he has here will allow him to continue his professional development in his chosen field.

New Vredestein Traxion CropCare VF tyre for sprayers

Apollo Tyres launched in November at the EIMA Agri show in Bologna (Italy), the Vredestein Traxion CropCare, a new innovative Very-High Flexion (VF) tire designed specifically for Trailed and Self-propelled sprayers. “This new addition to Apollo's VF agricultural tire portfolio highlights our company's ongoing commitment to improving CROSS agricultural solutions through advanced technology products, which includes the VF Traxion Optimall (for tractors) and VF Flotation Optimall (for implements/trailers)”– says, Massimo Limiti, Head of R&D-OHT. This project is also an important testimony of our cross-geographical development projects involving expertise from R&D teams of both Enschede & Chennai, adds Massimo.

Design for the demanding needs of Sprayers

The Vredestein Traxion CropCare was specifically designed and developed by the OHT EU R&D team to meet the requirements of arable farmers and contractors in both the European and U.S. markets. According to Karthick Maruthupandian, Product Development Manager-OHT, the tire offers solutions to the challenges of modern sprayers, such as high center of gravity and stability in narrow crop rows. The tire combines high load capacity with stable handling, even at high lateral forces when cornering or on uneven terrain. Dual Apex technology sets the Vredestein Traxion CropCare apart from others. This strengthens the bead area and reduces sidewall deformation, crucial for sprayers with heavy loads.

Innovative Design

elements with striking Aesthetics

The steel belt carcass offers durability and flexibility, suitable for both land and road, with improved wear resistance and service life. A stabilizer ring in the tread increases lateral stability, essential in high center of gravity maneuvers. The tread design was another crucial element in development. This combines traction, soil protection and self-cleaning ability, ideal for wet conditions. The newly developed chafer cushion rubber compound minimizes heat buildup, for consistent performance at high tire pressures (up to 4.4 bar).

The modern, sleek Three-Panel sidewall design is praised for its striking aesthetics.

Performances through Extensive Virtual prototyping (FEA) & Field validations

The design of the Vredestein Traxion CropCare was validated through extensive Virtual prototyping (FEA), enabling us to model the tyre’s performance under various conditions before real-world testing. These simula

tions helped refine and optimize the tyre’s design ensuring optimal performance in both field and road applications. This guarantees top performance on both road and land, and confirms the tire's versatility in various markets -which was validated through extensive

Field tests in Netherlands, Germany & France.

The Vredestein Traxion CropCare will initially be available in two sizes (VF 380/90 R46 and VF 380/105 R50), with worldwide sales starting in the first quarter of 2025. Twelve additional sizes will be introduced starting from fall2025. With this introduction, Apollo Tyres reaffirms its commitment to innovation and quality products in the agricultural sector.

"
'Through innovative technologies and design strategies, the Traxion CropCare offers up to 30% more stability than competing tires, as internal testing demonstrates.’

Link between the work floor and management

Mustafa Kurkut has been an active member of Apollo Tyres’ Works Council for almost ten years and it's a role he loves. ‘The best thing about my role as a member of the Works Council is that I get to serve my colleagues’ interests,’ he says excitedly. He works as Co Foreman BT Agri PL.A and sees himself as the voice of the work floor directed at management. Among other things, he uses the email group ‘News from Mustafa’ to share frequent updates. It is also important to him to protect the company's interests, especially because he –as a third-generation employee – wants to contribute to a stable future for everyone at Apollo Tyres NL..

Diverse task package

As chairman of the HR working group, Mustafa is responsible for a wide range of topics. 'We focus on issues that directly affect the work floor, such as consent requests for the summer break, changes to the regulations guide and changes in the organisational structure,’ he explains. ‘We also look at issues such as clock times. The diverse range of tasks is what makes this job so fascinating.’

Employee Satisfaction Survey

The HR working group is also closely involved in the Employee Satisfaction Survey (ESS). Mustafa sees this as an important tool with which to assess the mood within the organisation. ‘It is good that we are taking stock of the situation, so we can focus on specific points of improvement,’ he explains. He emphasises that the HR working group consists of employees from every level of the organisation. This results in widespread support and a better understanding of what happens on the work floor.

Listening

In particular, Mustafa appreciates the open attitude of Apollo Tyres’ Works Council. ‘We listen to our colleagues and management alike. I try to bridge that gap and be approachable for everyone.’ With his enthusiasm and energy, Mustafa derives a lot of satisfaction from his role. His enthusiasm is clearly felt throughout the entire organisation.

Ruud Veldwijk

At Apollo, employees often come from diverse backgrounds and they bring a wide range of experience to the table. In ‘Five questions for …’, René Jansen, operator VAS, presents five questions to Ruud Veldwijk. Both gentlemen work in the Airmaster department. René has prepared some fun questions for Ruud about his role, ambitions, collaboration and what drives him outside work.

it is also about the choices we all make every day. It starts with our behaviour and our attitude: respecting break times, smoking in the designated areas and completing our shifts without leaving early. These actions may seem insignificant, but they have a major impact on our shared efficiency, safety and a workplace atmosphere in which everyone feels responsible.

Let's help and support each other to bring about this change. When we are not afraid to hold each other accountable and motivate each other to honour our commitments, we can build a work environment together in which

Providing social safety together

Meet our confidential adviser and company social worker.

Lindy Lentfert (left) Eveline Jansse van Noordwijk(right)

Here at Apollo Tyres NL, we aim to provide a safe and pleasant work environment for everyone. That means we not only care about our people's physical safety, but also their social safety. Employees can count on the support of Lindy Lentfert, who serves as our external confidential adviser, and Eveline Jansse van Noordwijk, AT NL's company social worker. Together, they listen to people's concerns and offer support and advice to employees facing a wide range of challenges in the workplace.

Independent confidential adviser

Lindy Lentfert has been Apollo Tyres NL's external independent confidential adviser for over a year now. She supports employees who encounter undesirable behaviour, such as harassment, discrimination, violence or bullying, and assists with cases of suspected misconduct. She listens to people in confidence and helps them find solutions. Ideally, an informal approach is found to put an end to the undesirable behaviour. She submits annual anonymous reports to the board about the volume and nature of the reports she receives. If necessary, Apollo Tyres NL can use this information to refine its policy.

Company social worker

Eveline Jansse van Noordwijk, who has been with Apollo Tyres NL for almost seven years now, is a familiar face within the organisation. As a company social worker, her role is to answer questions, solve problems and mediate on behalf

‘Are you not sure if we're the right people to talk to about your question or problem? Just give us a call or send an email. Together, we can figure out where you need to go.’

"of employees faced with stress or complex situations, both in the workplace and at home. These issues can range from illnesses and informal care duties to financial struggles. Eveline has a large network of support organisations and can refer employees to get them the support they need. Most employees come to Eveline on the recommendation of the occupational health and safety service, HR department or their supervisor.

Confidentiality

The external confidential adviser works in strict confidence and does not share any information without permission. Employees are free to say whatever they want to get off their chest. Lindy, Eveline and the HR BPs (Saskia van der Molen and Anouk Spekenbrink) regularly get

together to discuss the topic of social safety. Anyone can contact them directly if they have specific concerns. The company social worker shares certain information confidentially with the HR BPs if doing so can help an employee get the support they need or tackle points of attention for the plant as a whole. Besides Lindy and Eveline, you can always reach out to Saskia or Anouk for a confidential meeting. Don't wait too long; they are there to help!

Apollo 2.0: A radical transformation strategy to become truly global

Apollo Tyres has embarked on an ambitious restructuring to grow into a fully integrated, global player in the tire industry. Under its new strategic plan, “Apollo 2.0,” the company plans to merge its regional operations in India, Europe, and the United States to take full advantage of opportunities in each market. This integration is aimed at cost savings and increased efficiency, with technology and sustainability playing a key role.

“We want to become a global company and create synergies between our regional markets,” said Neeraj Kanwar, Vice President and Managing Director of Apollo Tyres. Where Apollo Tyres previously worked in silos, now collaboration is key. One example is the new global technology platform that, according to Chief Technology Officer Daniele Lorenzetti, “enables local customization while ensuring cost optimization.

Investments

The technological foundation is further strengthened by investments in AI and analytics, which Apollo Tyres aims to use to make production more efficient and sustainable. Through data analytics and the use of digital hubs in Hyderabad and London, the company has already achieved significant improvements, with productivity increases of 10-15% in just one year. In addition to efficiency and digitalization, there is a strong emphasis on sustainability. 'We are sometimes seen as an unsustainable industry, but we are constantly looking for sustainable alternatives,' explains Sunam Sarkar, President and Chief Business Officer. For example, the Chittoor plant runs entirely

on biofuels and Apollo is betting on solar power at its other facilities. However, the search for renewable resources remains a challenge due to their limited availability.

Further growth

With the growth of the global tire market, Apollo Tyres is focusing not only on expansion, but primarily on profitable growth. Innovation, sustainability, and technological advancement are the pillars of this vision. 'We strive to compete globally and offer our customers the best value,' Kanwar said. Thus, Apollo Tyres is strengthening its position not only in India, but also in international markets such as Europe and the US. With the transition to Apollo 2.0, Apollo Tyres hopes to further develop into a global leader, distinguished by efficient processes, technological innovations, and a solid sustainability strategy. Through this cohesive approach, Apollo Tyres is taking a clear step toward a sustainable and profitable future on the global stage.

RRoy, what makes your job so fun?

‘The diversity of the people I work with and the questions they have is what makes every day unique. No two days are ever the same! It also makes me feel good to make sure that the monthly salaries are paid out correctly and on time. And of course, the HR team is a wonderful team to work with!’

What do you love most about Apollo?

‘What I love most about Apollo is the product we make here and how visible it is in our daily lives. I now pay much more attention to a car's tyres than I ever did before. It is remarkable to see the impact our work has. As part of my job, I also get to meet many different and wonderful people.’

Tell us who you are! In this column, we present a colleague with a series of questions in order to get to know them better. In this issue of our staff magazine, we want to introduce Roy Senger. He joined the HR team on 1 March 2023. Roy is married to Hester, lives in Oud Ootmarsum and works as Payroll Officer for both Plant, EU and R&D.

‘ 'I cannot stand injustice and people who do nothing but complain. We have to work on solutions and more positivity together!’
"

What is your biggest challenge?

‘One of the biggest challenges is working with employees who are based outside the Netherlands and even outside Europe. That means I have to deal with different sets of laws and regulations. Although I encountered such situations from time to time in the past, it doesn't happen as much in recent years. It requires a lot of attention and knowledge!’

What is the busiest time for you?

‘I am busiest in December and January. December is a shorter month than usual in terms of payroll administration, because salaries have to be paid out before Christmas. There are also a lot more mutations that month, such as end-of-year bonuses and the sale and purchase of leave days, exchange of union contributions, and so forth. January is busy because we have to process and verify all the changes for the new year, such as new pension percentages and amounts, wage taxes, social security duties, and the like. If we get everything right in January, we are set for the rest of the year!’

What do you like to do in your free time?

‘In my spare time, football is my biggest passion. I play in a 35+ team with KOSC and I have a season ticket for FC Twente. I also love to take our three dachshunds for a walk, which is always fun!’

Uniformity: the final check for our tyres

The Uniformity department (UF) plays a key role in our production process as the final link between the vulcanisation of passenger tyres and the Finished Product Warehouse (MGP). With three shifts, each led by a Senior Operator and an Operator, the UF team works hard every day to deliver a high-grade product that is sent directly to our clients. Collaboration with other departments, including Vulcanisation, Quality, Tyre Manufacture and Testing, is crucial, because the Uniformity department carefully inspects circa 3,000 tyres per day. That's 750,000 tyres per year. By doing so, they contribute to the quality and reliability of our tyres.

Extensive automation

All tyres coming from Vulcanisation are stored in the UF department and then measured using three UF machines (UF5, UF6 and UF7). Among other things, the newest machine, UF7, is used to measure Original Equipment (OE) tyres. The department uses robots that pick up the tyres from their pallets, place them on a conveyor to be measured by the UF machines and then put them back. This method creates a streamlined process and boosts efficiency. In addition to being measured,

the correct labels are put on the tyres using a largely automated process.

Working together on quality

As part of the measurements conducted in the UF department, the test results are checked to see if they meet the standards. After all, the quality of the tyres must be guaranteed. As Co-Foreman, Raymond Janssen has been responsible for the daily operations in the UF department since April of this year. Raymond: ‘The UF

machines specifically check for bumps and indentations on the surface and side walls of the tyres. Radial forces and the conicity of the tyres are also measured. If a tyre is rejected (RcRh), it is sometimes possible to rework it by sanding down the shoulders. In other cases, it will be scrapped and rendered unusable. We will of course notify the department in question if that happens.’ The department also performs UF operations. This involves vulcanising ten tyres in four different quadrants and then measuring

final quality

‘The work is diverse and challenging. The department operates largely autonomously. That makes us very flexible. Our goal is to deliver the best quality every day, which makes our work fascinating, challenging and diverse.’

"them for quality control. Raymond: ‘We share the test results with the departments involved to determine possible next steps. For highly deviant results, we will create a 360-degree image of the tyre. The report with a clear analysis is then shared once more with the departments in question to determine follow-up actions.’

A changing department

It goes without saying that a lot has changed over the years. Some manual tasks have been automated and the volume and range of

tyres have decreased after the reorganisation in 2020. Raymond: ‘The department's staffing has also changed; whereas we used to have ten to twelve FTEs, we now only have two employees per shift. Despite the smaller team, the work has become more varied as a result of the focus on Ultra High Performance tyres and the larger tyre sizes for SUV models.’

A unique department

The department takes pride in its 24-hour mindset. The collaboration between the three shifts is

unique; what one shift is unable to get done in time, the next crew will finish for them. Raymond: ‘This allows us to maintain a fine balance between volume and quality. Because we work with a small team of only two people per shift, the lines are short and we complement each other well. This contributes to our communication and strengthens our collaboration. Although we are often seen as a production department, the work we do truly feels like that of a quality department.’

From the race track to the street:

Former Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella is now a Vredestein ambassador

In the lightning-fast world of car racing, every component matters. For a seasoned Formula 1 driver with three Grand Prix victories, 19 podiums and two World Constructors’ Championships in his pocket, performance and precision are crucial. Today, Giancarlo Fisichella brings his passion and expertise into a new world as a proud ambassador of Vredestein tyres. In this exclusive interview, he talks about his partnership with Vredestein, his vision on the product and his role in shaping the future of the brand.

‘ 'On

the race track and on the open road, I must be able to have complete faith in my tyres.’

Professionalism and remarkable quality

‘At first, I only knew of Vredestein through promotions,’ he begins. ‘Everything changed when I attended an event in Seville that was organised by your marketing team. I was struck by the professionalism and remarkable quality of your products. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to be part of this brand. Today, I am proud to represent Vredestein and make a contribution to your high-performance tyres.’ The partnership between Vredestein and the Formula 1 driver was formed quickly. ‘It all happened so fast,’ he says, ‘but there was a sense of

empathy right from the start. Your team is full of enthusiasm and drive, which are qualities I truly admire.’

"‘Online campaigns are amazing, but what I look forward to the most are the offline events. The best thing about my job is the personal interaction with Vredestein's customers and being able to share my experiences with other car enthusiasts.’

"The purpose of a Vredestein Ambassador

One of the first projects Giancarlo undertook was the introduction of the new Vredestein Ultrac Pro. ‘Those five days of testing the Ultrac Pro on a Ferrari 488 were fantastic. The tyre's performances during the gruelling event in Seville were impressive, to say the least. I'm not just saying this because I am a Vredestein ambassador; I am genuinely excited about the product and its possibilities,’ he says excitedly. As ambassador, he not only wants to bring the quality of Vredestein's products to people's attention, but also the company's drive to innovate. ‘I want people to know about the high standards and quality that Vredestein maintains. I am eager to share that message with other drivers and car enthusiasts.’

Working together on top-of-the-line innovation

Giancarlo does more than promote our brand both online and offline. He is also happy to share his knowledge with the R&D team. With his decades of professional experience, which dates all the way back to 1984, he has unique insight into the demands that tyres have to meet. ‘I am convinced that my knowledge about how to use tyres and push them to the

very limit can be very valuable to Vredestein. As a family man, I want to know that my loved ones are in safe hands when we're on the road. Comfort and safety come first, and that is exactly what Vredestein offers.’ He cites the Ultrac Pro as his favourite. It impressed him with its exceptional handling on both dry and wet surfaces.

Mutual respect

There exists a special bond between the ambassador and Vredestein, based on mutual respect and a shared vision. Although he hasn't had a chance to visit the tyre plant in Enschede, he hopes to do so in the future. ‘I would love to meet the team of Apollo Tyres. Hello to everyone there reading this! I cannot wait to visit your plant and take a look behind the scenes.’ His racing experience, keen eye for quality and enthusiasm make him the ideal ambassador to further strengthen Vredestein's brand.

Real team spirit

Our colleagues are working hard to boost their vitality and team spirit! These past few months, athletic employees took part in various challenging events and activities, such as the Enschede marathon, the half marathon in Oldenzaal and the 20 km run in Paris. Manchester United organi-

sed an inspirational football clinic and a padel clinic was held for our people in November. Other initiatives, such as the Summer Vibes photo promotion, the coffee cup and the water bottle, were also received with enthusiasm. These activities not only contribute to our health, but also strengthen our

‘One Family’ spirit. Working out together brings us closer together, motivates us and gets us to work toward a fit and energetic future as a team! In 2025, we intend to expand our focus on vitality even further. Will you join us?
