MES SA GE Hi Unis!!! It's your editor here bringing in the first issue of the Uni-Acorn, AOC Key Club's own newsletter. I am so incredibly excited to show our uni-acorns what we have in store for this month and for the rest of the term. New beginnings following the start of the 2223 term and finals coming up will lead to an interesting end to the semester, but nevertheless, Key Club is something I can always come back to. The close-knit community we've created on campus through serving and bonding is something so special and dear to me. One thing I am looking forward to this month is THE D16 BANQUET! I hope to meet new people from the other D16 divisions and reconnect with those I have already met. The connections I have made are ones I truly value because everyone is so supportive and sweet! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me for anything! Need to rant, help with math, (maybe not that), but if you simply want to talk hit me up B). Random fact, but my favorite anime is Fruits Basket, so you could talk to me about that! Thank you for reading >:DDD

MES SA GE HEYY UNI-ACORNS! 🦄🦄 Thank you guys for reading our first ever newsletter for AOC Key Club! I just wanna say how proud I am of all of you for all of your hard work in volunteering and service in the club! All the participation and spirit you guys bring never disappoint. A quick recap from the past 2 weeks, I hosted my first volunteer event at La Mesa Junior High’s ‘Howl Den’ and was so happy with the outcome! Many of our members came (11, including me) and shared that it was a really fun experience! A lot of teamwork and organization were involved and I was proud to see all of your work together. I was able to host a second one the week after at Rancho Pico’s Open House! It was another fun experience that the ASB teacher offered me. I was able to invite 3 members with me. We were able to see our old friends, relatives, and teachers. It was overall a good time and I can’t wait to host more events for you guys in the future! This is the end of my small recap and hopes you guys all have a wonderful rest of your day uni-acorns! 🦄✨💗💛

Sparkling through service✨,

maria manalastas

As we approach the end of the year, we've got a ton of fun activities and events planned for you all, so be sure to check our Instagram, Google Classroom, Discord, and weekly meeting on Fridays in Room 108 at lunch for updates. Keep up the hard work! If Caleb were still with us, he'd be proud of y'all.

DOG TO

members On April 1st, our club vice president, Teddy Yang, led the meeting, as our IP president, Caleb Kim, was attending DCON to transition to D16N’s 22-23 Lieutenant Governor. We had the old officers recap on their favorite memories from the term, and our new officers state their goals for the new term. Our club secretary, Joni Go, said her favorite memory would have to be "FALL RALLY for sure! Screaming the cheers, feeling the enthusiasm and energy from the other divisions, and bonding with other Key Clubbers was truly one of the most memorable events of my school year." Our treasurer elect, Hasvita Obulapuram, shared that she hopes to "coordinate new and fun bonding events and collaborate with other school's treasurers after dues are collected so people can be more excited and involved with Key Club."

OYS AND

ship swag For our last meeting of the 21-22 term, our old officers passed out Key Club official membership certificates, cards and pins. Chartering our club was a long and difficult process, but we are finally recognized as an official Key Club. Members were called out one by one and passed out their membership materials, and were proud to be official and charted members of AOC Key Club. In addition, we also made dog toys for the remainder of the meeting, to be donated to Castaic Animal Shelter. Using scraps from our previous “Make a Blanket Day Workshop” and from extra shirts, our members were able to make 42 dog toys :)

SERVICE S

HOWL

apr

On April 15th, AOC Key Club members + Joey Hernandez from Canyon Key Club volunteered at La Mesa Junior High's "Howl Den", a pantry with canned food and pieces of clothing that all got donated. We organized the food by expiration dates and arranged clothes by their sizes and were able to finish the job earlier than expected!

COLOR On April 26th, members + Josh Labra from Hart Key Club volunteered at Placerita Junior High's "Color Run", a fundraiser one mile marathon, where as volunteers, we got to throw colored powder at the participants. We also helped with set up and clean up. It was a big colorful mess :D

TOY For the week of April 18th, another club on campus, AOC Cancer Kids First hosted a Toy Drive, where our members got to participate in. The drop off box was placed outside of our wellness room. Special shout-out to our members Molly Eustace, Jay Wu and Tiffany Yap for the MOST donations!!!

OPEN On April 21st, we had four of our members help with Rancho Pico Junior High's open house. They distributed programs at the front gate to the families who were attending the open house, and also helped out when needed. We also got to see some of our old teachers, friends and of course, Marty the Mustang!

Tiffany has been an extremely active member within our club and we are so glad to announce her as our first member of the month for AOC Key Club! From always turning in her monthly service log on time, to her attendance through volunteer events, she has shown all of the qualities of an outstanding Uni-Acorn! Even with the smaller events, Tiffany always manages to donate and serve in any way she can. Congrats :D

DCON A

through DCON 2022, or District Convention, was held on April 1st-3rd in Reno, Nevada, where our IP President officially became Division 16 North's Lieutenant Governor. Our club hasn’t even reached a full year, but we've accomplished so much because of his leadership as our president. We are so incredibly proud of Caleb and we can't wait to see what he has planned for our division. All of AOC wishes you well and knows that you will make our division even more swag than it already is >:))

Also, congratulations to our IP 21-22 LTG, Katy Shin, for winning DISTINGUISHED LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR!!! (so swag ;D)
