La ubicación estratégica del terreno, frente a la plaza principal de Taltal y cercano al recientemente remodelado Teatro Alhambra, fue el punto de partida para el diseño de un edificio que integra la plaza a la biblioteca y además crea un lugar con vista privilegiada hacia la ciudad. La idea es formar un paseo cultural entre el teatro y la nueva biblioteca. El segundo punto que define el proyecto es la relación entre las proporciones del terreno elegido y el funcionamiento del inmueble. Se plantea una serie de espacios correlativos con distintas alturas que albergan las actividades de la biblioteca y que finalizan en una sala de lectura vinculada a un patio interior. Este proyecto resultó ganador del concurso público para el diseño de la Biblioteca de Taltal. The strategic location of the site -facing the main square of Taltal and near the recently remodeled Alhambra Theater -was the starting point for the design of a building that integrates the square to the library and creates a place with a privileged view toward the city. The idea is to build a cultural promenade between the theater and the new library.
The second idea that defines the project is the relationship between the proportions of the chosen site and the operation of the building. The proposal presents a series of interrelated spaces of varying heights that house library activities and conclude in a reading room attached to an inner courtyard. This project was the winner of the public competition for the design of the Library of Taltal.
