Reginald & Perrin, Antonio Ortega Last Paintings

When I began to paint this series of canvases featuring a pair of stones, I did so because I did not know what to paint, nor what could be painted: such a miserable beginning that it could not lead to anything significant. However, as time passed, I observed that they did not betray any of the destructive motivations behind them. The images began to teach me that generalizing a personal dilemma solves it. The discretion of a pair of stones in an uncertain landscape gives the paintings the ability to mediate through a positive illusion, because they are equivalent to indifference, detachment and the absence of opinion. That is, for states of being and situations that affect us and for which we would like to find a visual expression.
