Editorial Dear Members Hope you all are enjoying the wedding season and the upcoming festivities. The New Year is round the corner and I am sure many of us are looking forward to a new year. The year that went by like always saw a lot of hits and misses for many of us and also for Motherhood Club.

Year 2023 saw us celebrating our Anniversary by felicitating 21 achievers from different walks of life and acknowledging the MHC Patrons for the constant support and contribution towards the success of Motherhood Club.

2023 also saw many firsts, Our very first offline poetry meet at Sheros café Noida , Initiation of the first story Anthology by Motherhood Club, MHC Lit fest, distribution of Menstrual cups and Project Lantern.

Each initiative was beautifully supported by our members and hence could see success in one and all.

This year also gave us the chance to provide clean and hygienic space for more than 100 kids from humble background to study at a leading school in Noida. A hands on science experience for 25 kids in an NGO run school in Noida, more than 5 menstrual cup drives in NCR , supporting more than 500 women and helping them overcome period poverty.

We also saw a regular flow of #Thursdaythoughts and #Fridayfunda by our members on diverse topics and the regular contributions to the weekly prompts for story and creative challenge.

As we near the end of 2023, Team Motherhood club wishes each one of you a very Happy New Year and hope that the new years brings in a lot of cheer and happiness in your and your loved ones life.

We look forward to your continuous support in the coming year and we promise to bring in a lot more new initiatives in the upcoming year.

HEALTH CONTRIBUTION Hair and Skin Care tips for the winter season

The summer heat is gone. The monsoon humidity has finally disappeared. The pollution will also soon clear up. And it will be time for the much awaited winter of north India. Yes, the time, when we look forward to sunshine, excursions, yummy food, brightly coloured sweaters, cosy scarves and lot of hot steaming chai!! But while we do all this with renewed energy, we must also remember that our skin and our hair need special attention this time of the year. Here are some tips to keep them as happy as you are!!

Winter hair can be very dry and prone to split ends. It also sometimes looks very dull. The best thing to do for your hair is to apply oil at least once a week. Massage it well into your scalp and leave it overnight. Avoid over washing the hair. Ensure that you condition your hair after every wash. Avoid very hot water for washing hair; lukewarm is best in extreme cold when cold water is not feasible. Also, avoid hot styling methods as these dry out the hair.

Your skin becomes very dry in winters. Ensure that you moisturize frequently. In the severe winters, the heaters we use add to this. You can use a humidifier if needed. Remember that the sunshine that nourishes us in the winters contains the ultraviolet rays that we need to protect us from. So, when you are stepping out dressed in your winter gear, don’t forget that sunscreen. Many warm garments contain acrylic or other synthetic fibres which can cause a skin rash, so you can check this out. In the winters, you can cut down on exfoliation as skin is very dry and it might flake or become red.

Hydration, balanced diet, and getting outdoors are what you need in the winters; just like your skin and hair!!

HEALTH CONTRIBUTION Miracles of Moringa - contd Compiled by Ila Pachauri How to incorporate Moringa in your daily diet: 1. Make a powder of dried moringa leaves, add a teaspoon to water and drink it on empty stomach.

2. Add a few teaspoons of Moringa power to your chapati flour.

3. Add Moringa leaves to your pulses 4. Make a bhaji with Moringa leaves after blanching them.

4. Add drumsticks to your daals and gravy dishes.

5. Boil drumsticks and store them in the fridge, take at least 4-6 pieces with every meal.

6.Tender drumsticks can be cooked as delicious sookhi sabzi.

7. Pulp of boiled drumsticks can be added to chapati dough and cooked as delicious parathas .

BOOK REVIEW Book Name: The Forest of Enchantments

By Ruchi Singh 'The Forest of Enchantments' is a retelling of the Indian epic Ramayana from Sita's point of view which the author also calls 'Sitayan' have heard praise for the author from her book 'Palace of illusions' which Mahabharata told from Draupadi's perspective so when 'The Forest of Enchantments' came out. I was really excited to read it.

The hardcover of this book is absolutely stunning.

Ramayana is a story we all know and this retelling is beautifully expressed. The author has changed Sita's image from a meek woman to a woman who is a feminist and an epitome of courage, power and self respect. Ram-Sita's love story has been shown beautifully so is her journey in the forest or the days of her childhood. Other female characters in the book has been depicted wonderfully - Sunaina, Sita's mother also a wise and able leader, Urmila - a happy and cheerful person and a dutiful sister who suffered loneliness, Kaikeyi - a character who was seen as evil most of the times get her recognition that she was a wise and witty woman, Mandodari - Ravan's wife who watched her kingdom fall into ruins and was against war all the time, Ahalya who suffered for a crime she did not do. This book should be read by everyone because it teaches how women should be treated.

Male characters have been also written with equal thought and have been given recognition.

The narration is strong and gives a good base to the story though there were some parts where I felt that the author should have shown more aspects of Sita and Urmila's relationship or Urmila and Lakshman's relationship.

The ending is firm and astonishing. 'I forgave you a long time ago; I say to Ram. Though I didn't know it until now. Because this is the most important aspect of love, whose other face is compassion: It isn't doled out, drop by drop. It doesn't measure who is worthy and who isn't. It is like the ocean...Unfathomable. Astonishing. Measureless.

GO GREEN पर्यावरण संरक्षण के लिए हम क्या कर सकते हैं?

1. बिजली बचाएं: अ. सुबह-शाम खिड़कियों के पर्दे हटा कर प्राकृ तिक रोशनी को घर में आने दें। आ. जहां तक हो सके पंखे, कू लर और ए सी चलाने में पंखे, कू लर को प्राथमिकता दें। इ. ए सी को सामान्यत: 24/25 डिग्री सेल्सियस पर चलाएं। ई. घर में जिस जगह बल्ब, पंखे आदि उपयोग में नहीं आ रहे हैं उन्हें स्विचआफ कर दें। 2. पानी बचाएं: अ. जल से ही जीवन है, इसे अमृत समान समझें, किफायत से उपयोग करें। आ. बाथरूम, किचन आदि में पानी की टोंटी आधी ही खोलें। इ. आर ओ का पानी पौधों में, पोंछे में, गाड़ी की धुलाई आदि में काम में लें। ई. बाथरूम में शावर या खुले नल के नीचे नहाने की बजाय बाल्टी-मग का उपयोग करें। उ. जहां तक संभव हो रोज रोज वाशिंग मशीन में कपड़े धोने की बजाय हफ्ते में एक या दो बार इकट्ठे कपड़े धोएं।

4. किचन वेस्ट को बेस्ट बनाएं: अ. किचन में सब्जी और फलों के छिल्कों को पांच सात दिन पानी में भिगो कर छान लें व अलग बर्तन में रख लें इसमें दस गुणा पानी मिलाकर कर पेड़ पौधों में तरल खाद की तरह उपयोग करें। आ. ऊपर (अ.) में बचे हुए ठोस पदार्थ व अन्य पत्ते आदि को मिट्टी के एक पुराने मटके में डालकर ढककर घर के किसी ज्यादा काम में नहीं आने वाली जगह या छत पर किसी कोने में रखें। इसमें दिन प्रतिदिन का वेस्ट इकट्ठा करते रहें। मटका भर जाने के तीन चार महीने में यह बेहतरीन कं पोस्ट खाद में बदल जाएगा। इसे पेड़ पौधों में उपयोग करें। इ. घर में चाय बनाने, छानने के बाद छननी की चाय पत्ती को अच्छे से तीन चार बार पानी से धोकर सुखा लें। यह भी पेड़ पौधों के लिए बहुत अच्छी खाद का काम करेगी। ई. किचन में दाल, चावल, सब्जियां आदि धोने के बाद का पानी पौधों में सिंचाई के लिए उपयोग करें।

3 . ईंधन बचाएं: अ. खाना बनाने में प्रैशर कु कर व चौड़े तथा ढक्कनदार 5. प्लास्टिक उपयोग से बचें: बर्तनों का उपयोग करें। आ. खाना बनाने की सामग्री पहले से ही तैयारी के साथ अ. प्लास्टिक उपयोग के लिए 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse, अपने आसपास रखें ताकि उन्हें ढूंढने में आपका चूल्हा Recycle) की प्रक्रिया को अपनाएं। फालतू में न जले। इ. दूध, चाय में एक बार उबाल आने के बाद आंच मध्यम आ. बाजार से सामान लाने के लिए या सब्जीमंडी से सब्जी लाने के लिए कपड़े या जूट के थैले का उपयोग करें। कर दें। ई. जहां तक संभव हो परिवार के सभी सदस्य एक साथ ही आ. सिंगल-यूज प्लास्टिक उपयोग से तो भरसक बचने का भोजन करें। जिससे भोजन को बार बार गर्म न करना पड़े। प्रयत्न करें। उ. एक ही समय, एक ही गंतव्य या एक ही दिशा में घर के इ. प्लास्टिक के कं टेनर, बोतल आदि को छोटे छोटे पौधे लगाने के लिए गमलों की तरह रचनात्मक उपयोग कर सकते हैं। सदस्यों को आना जाना हो तो समय का थोड़ा बहुत ई. आनलाइन शोपिंग में आने वाले प्लास्टिक पैकिंग को ग्रो-बैग समायोजन करके , वाहन साझा करने का विकल्प चुनें। की तरह काम में लिया जा सकता है।

6. पेड़ लगाएं, हरियाली लाएं, पर्यावरण बचाएं: अ. प्राणवायु आक्सीजन दाता हरियाली देते पेड़ पौधे लगाएं। आ. जहां भी संभव हो घर के आसपास, निर्जन, खाली, सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर, पार्कों में, सामुदायिक परिसरों में, घर के अगले/पिछले भाग में पेड़ लगाएं। इ. यदि पर्याप्त जमीन न हो तो घर में बालकनी, लाबी, टैरेस आदि कहीं भी कु छ पौधे गमलों में ही सही, जरुर लगाएं। ई. जीवन के विशेष अवसरों, जैसे जन्मदिन, विवाह वर्षगांठ, निकटस्थ परिजनों के निधन/पुण्य तिथि आदि पर उनकी स्मृति में या अन्य कोई अवसर विशेष की स्थाई स्मृति स्वरूप वृक्षारोपण किया जा सकता है।

7. जीव-जंतुओं को आश्रय दें: अ. यदि संभव हो तो घर के दालान, बरामदे, लाबी आदि में चिड़ियों के छोटे छोटे घरौंदे रखें। उनके लिए दाना पानी के परिंडे टांकें । आ. घर के बाहर कु त्ते, बिल्ली, गिलहरी या अन्य जानवरों के लिए भी आहार, पानी आदि की व्यवस्था करें। इ. चींटियों के लिए घर के आसपास खाली जगहों पर चुग्गा डालें। इसके अलावा भी प्रकृ ति प्रेम और पर्यावरण संरक्षण संबंधित अन्य बहुत से काम किये जा सकते हैं, सोचेंगे तो बहुत कु छ किया जा सकता है: घर को बंद करके बाहर जा रहे हैं तो बिजली के बल्ब, पंखे आदि व पानी के नल की सभी टोंटियां बंद करके ही बाहर निकलें। संतुलित, संरक्षित पर्यावरण - सुखद, सुरक्षित, जीवन - कमल निमोदिया

CORPORATE GYAN Taking breaks at work Taking a break from work is so important, yet people leave their vacation time unused.

What individuals don't realise is that their overall growth depends on their being stress free. It's essential to take a break from your job, your routine, and the demands of life to keep your stress levels in check.

Most of us feel tired and stressed out due to monotony of our professional life, we may also lose focus after a long stretch at work? If we can't take a vacation, we can surely take regular breaks during work . A small stroll post lunch, a coffee break, a board game with colleagues can stimulate the brain and heart.

Even an outing for a day or two or a long drive can increase happy hormones. As we all know stress is a silent killer, combating stress isn't that hard. Taking out time for small meditations, using breathing techniques, enjoying some good music are some ways to enjoy short breaks. Pursuing hobbies like fishing, cooking, music, sculpting, painting etc. can de-stress and relax a tired mind and body.

Breaks shouldn't be mistaken as a sign of laziness or inefficiency, in fact short breaks can boost productivity and creativity.This helps in over-all well being of an individual. Taking breaks can also enhance your work quality and output. Breaks stimulate your creativity and innovation, as they guide you to introspect, to think over new ideas, perspectives, and solutions. Breaks also improve your learning skills and retention power, as they help consolidate and process information that comes across. A relaxed mind also tends to make less errors at work, thereby also improving problem-solving skills. Once rejuvenated and revitalised, one will return to work with a lot more focus and determination.

FIN - GURU - CONTRIBUTION Kiddomentoring on Money Matters Most households, do not like to discuss money or financial matters in front of kids. They are kept in isolation of the family circumstances, the challenges their parents face, if any and hence, the child is completely oblivious to what’s going on. The child grows into an adult, and by and large the same is repeated with her or her kids.

Aren’t kids part of the family and should they not be in the knowhow of the things. One doesn’t want to hassle a child, but not making a child aware in the most appropriate manner can lead to repercussions beyond imagination Imagine a situation, where a child wants a toy which will disturb your monthly expense, as there are some major expenses already been done, would you be in a spot. Take another example, you are financially sound and there is no challenge, would you still give in to all that your child asks for.

Think about it, by taking small steps, you would inculcate the habit of saving, not make them frivolous spenders and above all you would make them learn the value of things.

1. At age 5 start giving them token amount of pocket money. – This money should be for them to make some expenses on buying gifts for parents on birthdays or anniversary, for siblings. To buy a toy that they really want. It should not be too less that they are not able to save or spend anything on meaningful things, neither should it be so much that they feel they have all the luxury in the world 2. Involve them in your grocery or vegetable shopping, allow them to count the money to give and get back as change 3. Teach them the concept of saving. – let me explain this with an example. They get cash gift from their grandparents for their birthday, Say 500 /1000 rupees. Ask them would they like to spend it all, save it all or buy something with say half the amount and balance save it. On the saved amount, offer them an interest income which will grow their money.

This would encourage the habit of saving and investing 4. Teach them to earn some money. Some ideas could be, allow them to do house hold chores like watering the plants, keeping track of bathroom supply, bill payment etc.

एक शिल्पकार की व्यथा कथा जब तक मैं तुम्हें तराश रहा था, तब तक तुम सिर्फ एक पत्थर थे, और मैं था एक शिल्पकार। और अब जब मेरा तराशना पूर्ण हुआ, तो तुम्हें लोगों ने भगवान बना दिया, और मैं हो गया मानों अछू त दिन रात मेहनत कर के तुम्हारी संरचना मैं ने ही की, और मुझे ही तुम्हें छू ने का न रहा अब अधिकार, तुम्हें गढ़ के क्या मैंने कोई अपराध किया, किस बात का समाज ने लिया मुझसे प्रतिकार। तुम तो हो गए मन्दिर में स्थापित, और मुझे कर दिया अपने दर्शन से वंचित। पता नहीं क्यूँ होता है ऐसा दर्द होता है मुझे इस दोगले पन पर, एक टीस सी उठती है मन में कि पूज्य मान लेते है लोग पत्थर के भगवान को, और नकार देते हैं उस इन्सान को जिस ने उसे तराश कर मूर्त रूप दिया। हरदम ही समाज ने यही सिला दिया, अब चाहे जिस भी देवी देवता को गढ़ा हो मैंने। कहते हैं विश्वकर्मा ने ब्रह्माण्ड को रचा, पर मैंने तो विश्वकर्मा को ही तराशा था, यानि मैं तो विश्वकर्मा का भी कर्मा हुआ, पर क्यूँ नहीं मिलती मुझे इस बात की दुआ? काश मेरी संरचना पूरी नहीं हुई होती, तो तुम्हारा और मेरा अलगाव तो न होता, और शायद तुम्हें छू ने का अधिकार न छिनता, पर हाँ, शायद तब तुम भगवान न कहलाते? पर तुम मेरे हाथों में तो रहते। अगर मैं तुम्हें नहीं तराशता तो शायद मुझे यूँ तुम्हारे दर्शन को तरसना न पड़ता। रतन कु मार अगरवाला “आवाज़” गुवाहाटी, असम

सफाई करते पुरानी तस्वीरें देख जब पापा ने जोश में मूछों पर उंगलियां फिराई, खुशियां फिर से घर लौट आई। बेसन की बर्फी में कढ़ाई चम्मच से जब मम्मी ने अपने प्यार की मिठास मिलाई, खुशियां फिर से घर लौट आई। शहर से लौटे बच्चों की आहट सुन जब दादी सरपट दौड़ी निशब्द हर्षायी, खुशियां फिर से घर लौट आई। अनेक रंगों में, दीवाली फिर से घर लौट आई। - पंकज त्रिपाठी "कविचार"

माँ ... वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है.. चाहे राम की हो या श्याम की, जन्मदात्री देवकी हो या फिर, नाजों से पालने वाली यशोदा.. चाहे वनवास देने वाली कै कयी , या सौ पुत्रों की माँ गांधारी.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है.. के वल हमारे लिए अपनी अंजुरी से, माया बरसाने वाली लक्ष्मी, या पहली गुरू सरस्वती.. हर एक के छोटे से आकाश का , अटल रहने वाला ध्रुव तारा.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... उसका गुरुत्वाकर्षण तो पृथ्वी से भी महान है, पृथ्वी की तरह ऊपर से नीचे नही, नीचे से ऊपर को धके लने वाला.. बीजाण्ड से ब्रह्मांड को भेजने वाला.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... उसके बीजाण्ड में अंकु रित, सूक्ष्म भ्रूण हम.. एक दशांश मि. मी. से भी लघु, गर्भाशय की भित्ती पर , अपने मूल पसार उसी का रक्त अवशोषित कर जीवन पकड़ता बीज.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... अचानक जैसे अंकु र फू टता है, वैसे नाभि से नाल फू टती है.. जग के जुड़ने से पहले एक जुड़ाव.. उसी से मिलने वाले पोषण से, अंकु र का पौधा बनने की शुरुआत.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... चैत्र में फू टते नव किसलय से, धीरे धीरे विकसित होते अवयव.. उसी की ऊर्जा से शुरू हुए इंजन.. आदी से लेकर अंत तक अविरत, पोषण देने वाली वो.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... नये फे फड़ों से लिया पहला श्वास, और नये ह्रदय की पहली धड़कन.. सब कु छ उसी की माल की का, नॅनोग्राम से लेकर किलोग्राम तक की, हर बढ़त उसी के कोश में... माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... कण कण से बढ़ता बोझ ले कर, संतुलन संभालने वाली मजबूत रीढ़.. कितना भी झुकना हो, पेट में पल रहे, पिंड को जरा भी धक्का ना लगे ऐसी जिद्द.. ऐसी सुरक्षा उसी के कोष में.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... लात मारने वाला गर्भ शिशु, लात मारने वाली बाह्य परिस्थिति.. दोनों को झेलती सहती, तार पर जीवन नृत्य करती, एक सजग नटणी...

माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... नौ महीने नौ दिन की कसरत, खुद की ढपली बजाता पति, और तमाशा देखता समाज.. पर मदद के नाम पर हर एक का, मिलता टका सा जवाब.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... गर्भावस्था के आखिरी दिनों, निस्तेज होती काया संग हांफते धांपते घर के काम करती.. सूजे पैर और मद्धिम श्वास, मानों प्रसव की दस्तक.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... चंद्र, ग्रह, तारे जब शिशु की कुं डली में आकर व्यवस्थित हो जायें, कि तब ही शुरू होती प्रसव वेदना.. गहरे, गूढ़ ,अगम्य और अंधेरे से अनजान पथ का प्रवास यानी प्रसव.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... प्राण देने वाली नाल भित्ति से विलग होती, अपने मूल से अलग होने के भय से डरा शिशु, घुटते शिशु के लिए, बचाकर रखा धीरज समेट, एक प्राण विदारक चीख के साथ जोर लगाती वो, और फिर तरंगों के साथ बाहर आता नवजात.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... माँ ने सहे दर्द को जोर से रो कर दाद देता शिशु, अर्थात बाहर के जगत में ली उसकी पहली श्वास.. गुदड़ी में लिपटे सुख को छाती से लगाते ही, अमृत कुं भ को खोजते उसके फड़फड़ाते होंठों को कौतुक से देखती वात्सल्यपूर्ण उसकी आँखें.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... उस नवजात के गोद में आते ही छाती से बहती अमृत की बूँदें जब शिशु के ओठों पर बहने लगती हैं, और उस अमृत अभिषेक में नहाकर जब वो कलेजे का टुकड़ा तृप्त होकर सुख से सोता है , तब वो सुखी होती है.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... माँ कु रान से हो या पुराण से,उसका वात्सल्य किसी को भी नतमस्तक करने में समर्थ, वो त्रिदेव रूप दत्त की अनुसूया हो या प्रखर सूर्य या विवस्वान की अदिति, दिगंबर की माँ हो या पैगंबर की.. माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है... जमाने भर में घूमकर भी उसके उपकारों की उतराई करने वाली वस्तुओं का कोई माॅल ना मिलेगा डेबिट कार्ड, क्रे डिट कार्ड, पासबुक ये सब इस रिश्ते के लिए बस कागज भर हैं.. माँ का कर्ज चुका सके उतना बैलेंस उनमें कहाँ है?? इस कर्जे से किंचित मुक्त होने का बस एक ही मार्ग है.. मान लीजिए है एक उतराई ... हो सके तो उस माँ के बुढ़ापे में, बन जाना तुम अपनी ही माँ की माई.. क्योंकी माँ .. वो तो सबकी एक सी होती है.. हिमानी राहुल पाटील

आज मैं ख़त लिखने बैठी किसको लिखूँ बहुत सोचा फिर ख़ुद पर ही आ कर रुकी

सुनते हैं मेले में कई रंग हैं शामिल, दुनियादारी के मेले में सब घूम रहे ग़ाफ़िल । भागम भाग में क्या हासिल, घुटते अरमानों का वक्त़ ही क़ातिल।

सोचा आज ख़ुद को ही अपने दिल की बात बताती हूँ क्या अच्छा हुआ क्या बुरा ये सब बताती हूँ वो बचपन के यारों से मिलवाती हूँ जहां अल्हड़्पन खेलता था उन गलियारों से पहचान करवाती हूँ

Learnings to Take Away from Defeat - World Cup Match Learning It was the last match of the ICC World Cup Cricket tournament, between India and Australia. Teams across the globe vied for the coveted trophy in the 13th version of the game which started in 1975. India emerged the clear winner in all the previous ten outings, but was defeated by Australia in the final match. Incidentally it was Australia's sixth title in the 48 years of World Cup history. India though won the title in 1983 and 2011 and reached the semi finals in 1987, 1996, 2015 and 2019. Reaching the final for the third time in its own land a virtual euphoria was generated in the whole country. Millions of Indian fans were left heartbroken with the defeat.

The final match is said to have achieved a record breaking live viewership of 130 million (13 crore) on Disney Hotstar. There were more than 100000 spectators in the final match including the Prime Minister. The whole tournament was watched by 518 million ( 51.8 crore) people creating history in the annals of world cup cricket. The final match generated Rs 9-9.5 billion, while the tournament in total was able to garner ads of Rs 22-23 billion (TV & digital). Monetary wise and with the prestige associated, expectations rose sky high not only for both the teams but for the sponsors, the fans at large and the whole nation as well.

The expectations got shattered with the defeat, but from the defeat there are some valuable lessons to learn - fostering resilience, sportsmanship and importance of learning from setbacks.

1. In any sport setbacks are inevitable. It is crucial to bounce back from disappointments ; learn from mistakes and emerge stronger ; embrace challenges with a positive attitude ; understanding that failures are stepping stones to eventual success. After the match Rohit Sharma the Indian captain said - "We were not good enough today. I am really proud of the team, how we played from game one. It just wasn't our day. We tried everything, but it wasn't supposed to be". And that is spirit one should carry along in the other spheres of life. There should be no room for complacency. As an elder brother the Prime Minister too went into the Indian dressing room, shared his wisdom and a word of encouragement for the team.

2. One should learn the essence of respecting opponents, acknowledge their efforts and handling victories and defeat with grace. It is essential to celebrate wins, but also to learn to accept defeat respectfully and not to get disheartened.

3. It is essential to understand the importance of supporting the peers, contributing selflessly to the team's success, fostering a supportive environment where everyone thrives together.

4. One should reflect upon his failures, identify areas of improvement and channelise the lessons into collective growth.

5. Trust the leader, his ability to command because he stands at a vintage point. A good leader is the one who gives credit to the whole team on the success, but takes responsibility for the failure.

6. The pressure of expectations can be overwhelming as found in India's performance.

Therefore one should emphasise the importance of staying focussed, staying true to self and not letting external pressures overpower one's performance.

The Law of Vibration It is important to understand the laws that govern our universe, more importantly to understand how it works so silently. We know if a person wants something intensely it comes to him if he gets in harmony with supporting factors. The best aspect of it is that one need not struggle to be in harmony but to allow himself to flow with the power of the sub-conscious. The sub-conscious itself becomes the driving force.

What the law of vibration says. The law states that everything in the universe is in a constant state of movement. This movement is referred to as the speed or the rate at which something vibrates. The difference between one object and another is the rate of its vibration. Even solid objects that we perceive as static such as rock, wood or structure vibrate but at a slow speed. Our body on the other hand vibrates at an extremely high rate.

Our thoughts like everything else in the universe, are energy. And they vibrate at different frequencies depending on the nature of the thought. Our thoughts are cosmic waves and are so powerful that they can penetrate any space and time. It is no secret that our thoughts and feelings control the vibration of our body.

We have the power to dictate the frequency of our being by choosing and directing our thoughts. As said our sub-conscious mind or the emotional status creates the vibration that our body experiences. They set up a resonance with anything that is on the same frequency. In common parlance these vibrations or the vibes are the emotional signals a person or object or a thing gives out to those around with their body language and social interactions.

Kali - The Ephemeral Embrace of Freedom

Can one truly fathom the sensation of boundless freedom, unbridled and allencompassing? Is it conceivable to grasp the timeless or something that transcends the constraints of mere time? The exploration of Hindu mythological and philosophical works introduces us to Ma Kali, a dark, infinite, and eternal force. Yet, can the ineffable Kali be articulated to mere mortals? The challenge lies in the inherent limitations of words, like fetters attempting to capture the essence but inadvertently binding and limiting the very construct they aim to describe – Kali, the embodiment of freedom.

Let's first delve into the form that the human mind has ascribed to her, an attempt to capture her in our limited understanding. Her visage, fearsome and awe-inspiring, defies conventional aesthetics. Her color, a pitch-dark canvas, sets the stage. Garlands of human skulls adorn her upper body, while the lower part is draped in human arms severed from their bodies. Fierce bloodshot red eyes pierce through the darkness, and her bloodthirsty red mouth, open with a crimson tongue jutting out, completes the tableau. A bloodcovered, four-armed deity stands with a sword, a demon's head, a vessel, and the fourth hand in Abhaya or Varda Mudra, symbolizing salvation from greed, anger, delusion, and fear.

In our human journey spanning over 200,000 years, we've made strides in understanding our existence. However, this prolonged contemplation has inherent limitations. In the modern age, our worldview is increasingly confined to binary outcomes, where almost everything is categorized as Good or Bad, Possible or Impossible.

When we encounter Kali, whose appearance isn't conventionally pleasant, our minds instinctively seek a more agreeable form, perhaps Gauri, attempting to confine the feminine within socially explicable boundaries. Is this because we are still grappling with the comprehension of true freedom?

The word 'Kali,' like many in Sanskrit, transcends mere definition. Beyond its literal meaning, it carries layers of significance. 'Kali' not only signifies darkness but also originates from 'Kala,' meaning time. Combining 'Ka' and 'Li,' where 'Ka' refers to Purusha (beyond man, expanded to the masculine in Hindu philosophy), and 'Li' signifies end or dissolution, we unearth another meaning – the end of Purusha or the dissolution of the cosmic masculine principle. Words, it seems, fall short in conveying such profound concepts as freedom and Kali to the human mind in its infancy.

Consider the limitation of the word 'freedom' as an example. Our understanding of freedom is often relative, either in the context of freedom to do something or freedom from something. This relative framing hinders us from conceiving freedom as an absolute or fundamental concept. Words, by their nature, impose constraints on thoughts and intelligence, a limitation acutely felt when attempting to describe Kali – the epitome of freedom.

Kali - The Ephemeral Embrace of Freedom - contd A similar duality confronts our understanding of darkness. We typically perceive darkness in relation to light, and vice versa. Does this imply that the human mind comprehends most concepts through the lens of obvious contrasts, making sense of the world around us?

Kali, in her absoluteness, transcends such dichotomies. She is both absolute and independent, akin to the universe, predominantly dark with only scattered stars offering fragments of light.

Reflecting on these premises, consider darkness not as the absence of light but as an entity in itself. Imagine complete darkness, devoid of any hint of illumination, a darkness that brings clarity by eliminating shadows. Could this be the end of sorrow and fear, the embodiment of complete freedom, akin to Kali herself? In the Mahanirvan Tantra, Lord Shiva intimates that, in the end, only Kali, the devourer, will remain after consuming Mahakala (Shiva) himself – the supreme, the primordial Kalika, the original form of all things.

Understanding Kali becomes even more intricate when intertwined with the feminine principle (Prakriti). Our patriarchal society, grappling with the vastness of Kali, devised more docile forms like Gauri, Uma, and Parvati, binding them with societal values, family, and relationships. Doesn't this attempt to constrain the omnipotent Shakti within the narrow confines of human thought seem somewhat infantile?

Consider a road trip, passing numerous Kali temples in the mountains of northern India. Over 25 years, a particular temple, once hosting a black stone idol of Ma Kali adorned with human skulls and severed arms, underwent a transformation. In the recent visit, the idol of freedom, creation, and destruction was veiled in a red saree, a patriarchal offering attempting to confine Kali within societal rules. Such attempts, born from a narrow mindset, hinder our understanding of the boundless Kali.

Another revelation occurred at the Kali Tiger Reserve in Dandeli forest, Karnataka.

Amidst nature's abundance, a power outage plunged everything into absolute darkness. No stars, no moon, just the sound of rain on leaves. In this profound darkness, the dissolution of shapes and boundaries fused everything into an undifferentiated whole. It was as if Kali herself had enveloped the surroundings, a momentary yet intense experience of absolute freedom, resembling her boundless nature.

As we strive to articulate the inexpressible, perhaps the most accurate depiction of Kali comes from a still mind, free from preconceived notions and societal constructs. In this stillness, one might experience a glimpse of her – not as a fearsome deity to be confined within definitions, but as the very essence of freedom, shattering the illusions of duality and illuminating the path to the absolute.

The journey of understanding Kali is ongoing, much like the human quest for absolute freedom. Words may falter, but the essence lingers. Let us strive, not to confine, but to liberate our comprehension of Kali, embracing the ephemeral dance of freedom she unfolds before those daring enough to venture beyond the limits of language and societal norms.

A festival always begins on a sweet note.

A sweet recipe called Tiripaadam. A special sweet from Tirunelveli District in Tamil Nadu. Melts in mouth. Am sure you will all like too. Please try and see.

Ingredients: Sugar 1, 3/4 th to 2 cups Milk 1 cup Besan 1 cup Ghee 3/4 cup Elaichi Crushed bits of Cashews n badam Method :

Put Sugar and milk together, boil until Sugar dissolves and milk becomes watery. Add besan slowly and gradually n give a mix . Keep stirring to avoid not forming any lumps. Once mixed well, add 1/4 amount of ghee first and keep stirring. In between add all the elaichi and dry fruits. Then gradually add rest of the ghee. It starts gathering well n leave the sides pour into the greased plate . Make marks with a knife while it is warm. Then once cold ..cut into pieces n store in an airtight container. Stays long , no need to keep it in fridge.

The other day amidst the daily grind, I heard a trailing whisper, a humming tune playing unobtrusive in my mind. I was employed in my work and deliberately ignored it. Persistent as it was.. it played 3 decibels louder. The clatter of the dishes could not mellow the softness of the music that engaged and entertained me. As it longingly intrigued my mind, unaware I began humming it until the music was loud enough to make me sing along..in the thick of all the household chores it secured its place firmly in my mind. I stopped short of all that needed my attention.. I was lured to that engrossing tune. My physical reality and my mental existence both synced in a trance. I abandoned all thoughts of thralldom, resigning from all worldly pleasures.. I delved deeper into the realms of my inner self.. finding peace, resonating with pacifying thoughts... a smile adorning my countenance.. I find myself ! ! !

नारी अब अबला नहीं जब एक लड़की जन्म लेती है, तब से ही सभी लोगों से सुनती रहती है कि स्त्री कमज़ोर, अबला और असमर्थ होती है। कहते हैं कि एक झूठ को बार-बार कहने से वह भी सच लगने लगता है। इसी प्रकार बार बार यही सब सुनने से लड़कियां अपने आप को कमज़ोर और अबला मानने लगती हैं। हमारे भारतीय संस्कार भी कु छ ऐसे ही हैं कि दादी, नानी शुरू से लड़कियों को समझाती हैं कि लड़कियां ऐसे नहीं करतीं, वैसे नहीं करतीं आदि आदि। ये सब बातें सुन सुनकर लड़कियां मानसिक रूप से अपने आप को कमज़ोर और अबला मानने लगती हैं। लेकिन आजकल ज़माना बदल रहा है, लड़कियां पढ़ लिखकर अपने बारे में भी सोचती हैं। उनको भी समझ आने लगा है कि जैसे पुरुष वर्ग है, वैसे ही नारी वर्ग भी है। दोनो वर्गों में सभी कु छ समान ही है। जब वे अपने देश की वीरांगनाओ की कहानियां पढ़ती हैं, सुनती हैं, तो उन्हें यह लगने लगता है कि हम भी किसी से कम नहीं हैं और न ही हम अबला हैं और न ही कमज़ोर। चलिए हम मान लेते हैं कि ये वीरांगनाएं इतिहास का हिस्सा थीं, लेकिन यदि हम आज के समय में देखें तो लड़कियां वही सब काम कर रही हैं जो पुरुष वर्ग कर रहा है, चाहे वह फ़ौजी स्तर हो, सामाजिक स्तर, राजनीतिक स्तर या वैज्ञानिक स्तर पर ....स्त्रियां आज किसी से भी कम नहीं हैं। अब प्रश्न यह उठता है कि जब हमें मालूम है कि हम पुरुषों से किसी भी स्तर पर कम नहीं हैं। नारी पूर्णतः सशक्त है, यह भावना नारी जाति में जागृत क्यों नहीं हो पाती? इसका सबसे बड़ा कारण प्रत्येक नारी की इच्छा शक्ति पर निर्भर करता है कि वह अपने को मानसिक रूप से किस ऊं चाई के शिखर पर ले जाती है। यह साबित करने के लिए नारी भी वह सब कर सकती है जो एक पुरुष करता है लेकिन विचारों की दृढ़ता किसी किसी नारी में होती है, और जिनमें यह दृढ़ता आ जाती है, उन्हें आगे बढ़ने से कोई नहीं रोक सकता। सुदृढ़ इच्छा शक्ति, कु छ पाने का जज़्बा, अथक मेहनत और भरपूर आशावादी दृष्टिकोण अपनाने से ही नारी स्वयंसिद्धा साबित हो पायेगी। यही वक्त की पुकार भी है। - पूनम भटनागर

श्री राम वनवास... जैसा कि सब जानते हैं भगवान श्री राम को 14 वर्ष का वनवास मिला। उन्होंने अपने वनवास के दौरान बहुत महत्वपूर्ण कार्य किए जिस के कारण आज भी भारत और आस-पास के देशों में राम संस्कृ ति व धर्म देखा जा सकता है। 12 वर्ष उन्होंने जंगल में रहकर काटे और 12 वर्ष की समाप्ति के दौरान उनकी धर्मपत्नी सीता का हरण हो गया। बाद में 2 वर्ष सीता को ढूंढने, वानर सेना का गठन करने तथा रावण से युद्ध करने में गुज़ारे। प्रभु श्री राम ने वन में बहुत सादगी पूर्ण जीवन जिया। खुद झोपड़ी बनाते, ज़मीन पर सोते, कं दमूल खाते व खुद से तैयार किए हुए ही वस्त्र पहनते और प्रतिदिन साधना करते। वे एक योगी तपस्वी का जीवन जीते थे। जंगलों में हिंसक जानवरों से व राक्षसों से सबकी रक्षा अपने धनुष बाण के कौशल से करते थे। अत्रि ऋषि को राक्षसों से मुक्ति दिलाने के बाद प्रभु श्रीराम दंडकारण्य क्षेत्र में चले गए, जहां बहुत आदिवासी थे। यहां के आदिवासियों को बाणासुर के अत्याचार से मुक्त कराने के बाद प्रभु श्री राम 10 वर्ष तक आदिवासियों के बीच में रहे। वहां पर उन्होंने लोगों को धर्म, कर्म और वेदों की शिक्षा दी। वन में रहकर आदिवासियों व वनवासियों को धनुष बाण बनाना व चलाना सिखाया। तन पर कपड़े पहनना सिखाया। आदिवासियों में परिवार की धारणा का विकास करवाया और एक दूसरे का सम्मान करना सिखाया। प्रभु श्री राम ने ही सर्वप्रथम भारत की सभी जातियों और संप्रदायों को एक सूत्र में बंधना सिखाया। यह सब कार्य उन्होंने अपने 14 वर्ष वनवास के दौरान किए। एक भारत का निर्माण कर उन्होंने सभी भारतीयों के साथ मिलकर अखंड भारत की स्थापना की। भारतीय राज्यों के अलावा नेपाल, कं पूचिया, मलेशिया, इंडोनेशिया, बांग्लादेश, भूटान, श्रीलंका आदि देशों की लोक संस्कृ ति व ग्रंथों में आज भी श्रीराम पूजनीय हैं। सुरक्षा खुराना

"नई दुल्हन और संयुक्त परिवार" "संयुक्त परिवार", सुनने में जरा अटपटा लगा क्या दोस्तों! पर महत्त्व तो ऐसे ही परिवार का श्रेष्ठ होता है, सच बताइये, आप जब अपने परिवार से किसी कारणवश दूर रहते हैं तो क्या आपको त्यौहारों पर फीकापन नहीं लगता या फिर जब खुश होते होंगे तो वह खुशी अधूरी तो जरूर ही लगती होगी परिवार के बिना। चलिए, तो हम परिवार में प्रेम की ऊर्जा को बनाये रखने पर कु छ बातें करते हैं। आज परिवार के नये सदस्य से जुड़ने की कोशिश करते हैं - नई दुल्हन... जब एक नई दुल्हन आपके घर आए तो उसे उसके कमरे से बाहर निकलने दीजिये, पर्दा तो आचरण में होना चाहिए, कमरे से निकलने देंगे तभी तो वह आंगन से अपनों तक पहुँचने का सफर तय कर सके गी, आज कल सुनने को मिलता है कि बहुरानी तो अके ले रहती है, आप भी तो सोचिये ऐसा क्यूँ हो रहा है? नई दुल्हन जब घर आती है तब परिवार के सभी सदस्य उसे अपने तौर तरीकों में इतना उलझा देते हैं कि वह अपने कमरे से निकलने में हिचकिचाने लगती है, वह तो ख़ुद प्रयास करती हैं आपके रंग में ढलने का, पर उसे थोड़ा समय तो दीजिये, आंगन संवारने से लेकर सब्जी बनाने के तरीके उसे मत समझाइये बल्कि प्रसन्नतापूर्वक उसके जरिये अपने आंगन में नये रंग और रसोई में नये स्वाद को आने दीजिये फिर देखिए कोई भी परिवार टूटेगा नहीं, फिर कोई दूर हो या पास हो, सदैव संयुक्त रूप में ही रहेगा। हम अक्सर प्रेम देने में कं जूसी कर बैठते हैं, जब परिवार संयुक्त होता है और फिर दोषी अक्सर उनको बना देते हैं जिनके कं धों पर पूरे परिवार की जिम्मेदारी होती है। अगर सभी अपनी अपनी जिम्मेदारी को निभाते हुए रहेंगे तो परिवार के प्रेम की नींव को हिला पाना बहुत मुश्किल होगा और जब प्रेम की महक बनी रहेगी तो आंगन हमेशा महकता रहेगा, हर परिस्थिति में। श्वेता उत्तरप्रदेश
