KIDS CORNER - EXPRESSIONS

Don’t use bad words

Once upon a time there was a girl named Tina. She loved her parents a lot. She used to make cards and give them to her parents with messages like “I Love you ” , “I miss you “ etc. Over the years she started miss behaving and stopped listening to her parents. Her parents would tell her that she should learn to listen to her parents and should be respectful. Slowly she stopped making cards and became even more disrespectful. One day she was being scolded by her mother as she had written on the wall, immediately Tina shouted and called her mom a STEP MOM. Her mother felt so bad and her father was so angry Her mother stopped talking to her as she was hurt Tina soon realised her mistake and started to sob and said sorry to her mother.

Her father explained to her what a step mom is and Tina realised what a big mistake she had made. She went and hugged her mom and said she is so sorry and she will never repeat this again. Her mom hugged her back and said we love you a lot, when we scold you , its for your own good. Tina reflected on what she had done and promised to her parents she will never be rude and disrespectful.

Moral of the Story: We should never say bad words to anyone knowingly or unknowingly , it may hurt someone we love

KIDS CORNER - EXPRESSIONS

I wanted her

I wanted her, and maybe a part of me still craves for her.

I wanted my children to have her eyes

I wanted her blood to run through my family's life.

I wanted her but she was written only as a chapter in my life; not as a book but that's alright Have I moved on... or Maybe I will move on but I know if I see her in a year or so while crossing roads my heart might beat faster my brain might give me a flashback of our time

my lips might have a smile and my eyes might get teary I don't know if we will talk or not but each day in each prayer of mine only her good wishes will shine

Rabies: The Silent Killer That Still Lurks.

When most people think of rabies, they imagine aggressive dogs foaming at the mouth or scenes from horror films But rabies is not just the stuff of urban legends it is a very real, a very deadly disease that still claims thousands of lives each year, particularly in developing countries.

What is Rabies?

Rabies is a viral disease that affects the central nervous system. Once symptoms appear, it is almost always fatal. The virus is typically transmitted through the bite or scratch of an infected animal most commonly dogs, bats, foxes, and raccoons.

A Preventable Tragedy

Rabies is 100% preventable with timely medical intervention If someone receives proper wound care and a post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) vaccine series soon after exposure, they can completely avoid the disease.Yet according to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 59,000 people die from rabies each year, primarily in Asia and Africa most of them are children. Most of these deaths are due to lack of awareness, limited access to medical care, and unvaccinated animals.

Symptoms: A Race Against Time

Rabies doesn’t show up immediately. The incubation period (the time between exposure and symptoms) can vary from a few weeks to several months. Once symptoms begin such as fever, confusion, hallucinations, fear of water (hydrophobia), and eventually paralysis there is no known cure. The disease progresses rapidly after symptoms appear, and death usually occurs within a few days

Animals and Rabies: Not Just a Dog Problem

While domestic dogs are the main source of human rabies deaths globally, rabies also affects wild animals. In North America and parts of Europe, bats are now the leading cause of rabies transmission to humans. However in India, no recorded case are from bats.

This is why it’s crucial never to touch or handle wild animals, even if they appear sick or injured

HEALTH CONTRIBUTION

Rabies: The Silent Killer That Still Lurks. contd..

How Can We Protect Ourselves?

1 Vaccinate Pets: Routine vaccination of dogs and cats is the first line of defence

2. Avoid Contact with Stray or Wild Animals: Don’t try to rescue or touch wild animals or unfamiliar pets.

3. Seek Medical Help After Any Animal Bite: Even a small scratch can transmit rabies if it comes from an infected animal.

4. Raise Awareness: Education campaigns in schools and communities can help save lives, especially in high-risk areas.

What if, we get exposed to an infected animal ?

Prevention is always better than cure. You have to prevent getting infected as there is no cure for Rabies patient. If someone has an exposure with animals (potential source of Rabies), first and foremost clean the wound under running tap water and soap for at least 15 minutes. Also do not apply anything on wound site. Visit nearby clinic/hospital to at the earliest to receive Post Exposure Prophylaxis Vaccine (4 visits 8 doses in the case of Intradermal vaccine) along with infiltration of wound site with immunoglobulin, if needed.

Global Progress

Clearly there is hope. Organizations like the WHO and the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) are working toward the goal of “Zero by 30” eliminating dogmediated human rabies deaths by the year 2030 Mass dog vaccination, better access to post-exposure treatment, creating public awareness are making a real impact.

In Summary, Rabies is a deadly disease, but also a preventable one. With awareness, responsible pet ownership, and access to healthcare, we can move closer to a world where no one dies from rabies a tragic end that no one should have to face.

THE GARDEN OF CHOICES – CHOOSE TO UNBURDEN

"Radha was heading home, taking her usual route through a vibrant garden bursting with blooming flowers and ripe fruits. As she entered, a bed of stunning roses caught her eye. She picked a few, imagining how lovely they'd look in the living room. Then came the carnations and orchids her daughter’s favourites. She couldn’t resist gathering some stems of those too.

Further ahead, she reached the fruit section and filled her arms with tomatoes, mangoes, cherries, grapes, and apples, thinking how delighted her family would be with the fresh harvest.

But halfway through the garden, Radha was weighed down. Each step felt heavier than the last She was sweating, breathless, and anxious about reaching home before dark.

Just then, Meena appeared. She too had picked some fruits and flowers, but her bundle was light, allowing her to walk briskly and effortlessly. Seeing Radha’s struggle, Meena suggested she drop a few items and walk faster. But Radha hesitated. She wanted to carry everything driven by the desire to please everyone at home. Despite Meena’s gentle persuasion, Radha chose to continue slowly with her load, while Meena moved ahead and reached home in time even after starting later than Radha."

Does the story sound familiar?

Often, we find ourselves burdened not just with physical things, but with emotions, expectations, and unresolved thoughts We carry everything: the good, the grudges, the guilt, and the need to keep everyone happy.

Sometimes, it’s indecisiveness. Sometimes, it’s fear of letting go. But the weight shows up in our lives. It clutters our minds, drains our energy, and limits our ability to focus on what truly matters, while reducing our productivity at work. So, here’s a gentle nudge: Choose to Unburden. Lighten your mental load. Prioritize what brings clarity and purpose. Let go of what no longer serves you. Let go of those hurts and pains which do not have any meaning now.

Your journey doesn’t have to be strenuous. It can be intentional, fulfilling, and free. Be light and Move On.

PARENTING CORNER

Which style of parenting do you follow ??? Do parents actually follow just one style ?

Isn’t Parenting very dynamic and ever evolving basis situations and howyour child responds. Its also a lot dependent on your own emotional and mental well being.

No one can define anyone ' s parenting style, as if the child is unique , so are you as a parent and so is the situation you are dealingwith.

Comparison is the biggest enemy of parenting and at times the root cause of issues between children and parents. Either of them is comparing and not trying to understand the uniqueness...

We invite your thoughts on this and the same can be emailed at anatarmanbymhc@gmail.com , most impactful thoughts shall find its place in our next edition ofAntarman.

LEARN FROM LORD KRISHNA – THE RULES OF INVESTING

Lord Krishna the greatest of all mentors , teaches you lessons for life Our life is build on three pillars health wealth and happiness , and each is a function of what we do and how we do. Amongst different kind of wealth that we accumulate , Financial wealth is critical. Shri Krishna teaches us the Importance of Karma – focus on your goals and you shall achieve

( Karmanye vadhikaraste, ma phaleshou kada chana)

( Ma karma phala hetur bhurmatey sangostva akarmani)

This verse is from Bhagavad Gita, where Lord Krishna explains Arjuna that he has to perform his duties, as the latter was not willing to fight the epic war of Mahabharata. The literal meaning of the verse is “You should focus on the action, that’s your primary role and not to shift your focus on the outcome of it . By being driven by the end result , you loose objectivity and are not able to fully own your actions or take responsibility.

Perform your duty as it should be and don’t give much attention to the outcome as that would make you weak and deter you from performing. What Krishna tells Arjuna is encapsulated in the idea of Karma Yoga or the “discipline of action”. The word karma is derived from the Sanskrit kri, meaning ‘to do’.

The same principal is applicable to the entire investment journey. You need to focus on the goal that you have identified, focus on what is to be achieved, and don’t get distracted by the market fluctuation and the external variable factors. You need to be very objective in the beginning of setting of the goals as that would determine your key responsibilities and duties

By keeping the focus on the goals that you have control on, you are able to cut out the irrational behaviour and become more process oriented, thereby reducing the variance between the Investment return and the investor return

There is always a cause or reason – Attach a perspective to the goal, when you make your Goals SMART , you automatically achieve, you would be able to take the correct steps

Mindfulness – Be mindful of aligning the family goals with yours. Avoid financial Infidelity.

Control your anger. - Never decide to sell your investments in a rage of anger because they are not performing, be objective. Evaluate your decision, do your study and not react and you will take an informed decision

Sacrifice – Making the changes in your life however small they are and to change your thoughts from spending it all to saving and investing for a bright future, creating that emergency fund today would take you a long way in achieving your goals

Humbleness or modesty- While setting your goals be realistic, keep them achievable so you don’t lose your focus, Let your money work for you , don’t get caught in the gamblers fallacy or get anchored to something which worked just once

Best or true friends. Treat your investment like friends who you would nurture and keep for long till you achieve what you want ( the purpose of every human being in your life).

No job is big or small. – Even if you make a small beginning in your investment journey at least make a start. Those small steps will create something big for you . Be disciplined and align your goals

By having a long term approach, you reduce the volatility and ae able to overcome the biases as per behavioural finance

Happy learning from Lord Krishna!!

Navratri, the nine nights of devotion, is not just a spiritual celebration, it's a symbolic journey of inner healing, resilience, and self-discovery. Each day of Navratri represents a different form of the Goddess, embodyingvirtues like courage, compassion, patience, and wisdom. When viewed through the lens of mental health, these qualities mirror the inner resources we draw upon to stay balanced and hopeful in challenging times. The Psychology Behind Navratri Just as the Goddess conquers evil in historical tales, every individual faces their own inner demons such as fear, anger, guilt, or self-doubt. Navratri reminds us that healing begins when we acknowledge these emotions instead of suppressing them. Fasting during these days can also be seen as a detox of the mind, helping us build discipline and mindfulness, qualities known to enhance mental clarity and emotional stability. The rhythm of prayers, colors, and rituals during Navratri provides a sense of routine and grounding, especially for those strugglingwith anxiety or stress. The collective energy of celebration fosters belongingness, combating loneliness one of the biggest silent stressors in today’s world. Each day can serve as an opportunity to reflect:Am I nurturing kindness in my thoughts?Am I standing up for my truth with courage?Am I allowing myself to rest and heal? Courage (Shailputri): Face challenges with strength, not fear.
