ASO WOODWIND QUINTET MUSICIANS

GENEVIEVE EICHMAN , flute

Genevieve Eichman holds a MM from Peabody Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Robert Willoughby, considered by many to be the “American Grand Master of the Flute” (Flute Magazine, UK). Robert Willoughby studied with Joseph Mariano, who had studied with William Kincaid…who was a student of Georges Barrère!

A graduate of Trinity University of San Antonio, Texas, Ms. Eichman completed part of her undergraduate study in Europe with Maxence Larrieu (Geneva Conservatory) and Michel Debost and Kathy Chastain (Paris Conservatory).

A member of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra for 29 years, Ms. Eichman also maintains a thriving flute studio in Ellicott City, Maryland, coaching some of the area’s finest flute students in both solo and chamber music repertoire.

RICK BASEHORE , oboe

Rick Basehore, a Rochester, NY native, is an active freelance oboist in the DC metro area. He moved to DC in 2008 to assume the duties of Co-Principal Oboist with “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band for a four-year enlistment. He currently holds positions in the Allentown, Annapolis, Harrisburg, Reading, and Maryland symphony orchestras, as well as the Sarasota Opera orchestra. Mr. Basehore can be heard on recordings of the Eastman Bach Children’s Choir, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, and the Grammy-nominated professional choir, Seraphic Fire.

For 15 years, Mr. Basehore travelled across the world, playing music festivals in places such as St. Petersburg, Jerusalem, Aspen, Stuttgart, and Paris. He trained at the Eastman School of Music, University of Cincinnati, and the New World Symphony.

BRIAN ELDRIDGE , clarinet

Carroll County native Brian Eldridge began his clarinet studies with Jean Miller, and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University where he studied music education and clarinet with John Weigand, and his master’s from the University of Michigan in clarinet performance where he studied with Fred Ormand. He has been the second/E-flat clarinetist with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra since 2016. In addition, he has served as E-flat clarinetist with the United States Army Field Band since 2005 and has performed on over 50 concert tours around the United States and abroad. He is an avid chamber musician and enjoys playing music with his wife, who is a professional violinist, and their four children.

ASHA KLINE , bassoon

Asha Kline is the principal bassoonist of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and assistant principal of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. In May, she will graduate from the Curtis Institute of Music with her Bachelor’s Degree, studying with Daniel Matsukawa of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She has played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra as guest principal and has been a bassoon fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center for the past two summers. Ms. Kline will spend this July in the Swiss Alps as a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra. Hailing from Ellicott City, MD, Ms. Kline started the bassoon at age ten after an abysmal nine-month attempt to play the clarinet. Her previous teachers include Fei Xie, Harrison Miller, Schuyler Jackson, and Monica Schwartz.

ALEX KOVLING , horn

Alex Kovling, Principal Horn of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, is a native of Lewisville, Texas, and joined the U.S. Navy Band in 2015. Alex takes advantage of other chamber music opportunities as a member of Barclay Brass and with his brass quintet, Apex Brass. He has enjoyed covering principal and soloing with the Navy Band and has even performed alongside Mannheim Steamroller, Andrea Bocelli, The Beach Boys, and Katy Perry.

Mr. Kovling received his Bachelor of Music from Texas Tech University, where he studied with Christopher M. Smith. After graduating, he continued his studies with William VerMeulen at Rice University, earning his Master’s Degree in Music.
