CHIMICA Alla luce delle caratteristiche valutate per grafite e diamante riflettere sul concetto di bellezza inteso come bellezze interiore e potenzialità che possono essere estrapolate da ciò che all'apparenza non sembra essere bello Partendo dal presupposto che grafite e diamante derivano entrambi dall’atomo di carbonio dobbiamo ragionare sulla loro evoluzione, che con il tempo le porta ad assumere forma e struttura diverse. La grafite è un minerale che si presenta in cristalli tabulari a contorno esagonale, o in masse lamellari grigio/nere con lucentezza metallica untuose al tatto.Viene utilizzata per le matite (mischiata con argilla) perché poco resistente Il diamante è sottoposto a una trasformazione più lenta che lo porta ad avere una struttura tetraedrica costituita da un reticolo cristallino di atomi di carbonio.Viene utilizzato come monile o decorazione perché costoso e raro, ed essendo il minerale più duro nella scala di Mohs come punta per i trapani contro materiali più resistenti. Questa premessa ci porta a riflettere sul concetto di bellezza interiore e su come da uno stesso punto di partenza si possono avere dei cambiamenti e delle trasformazioni che portano a risultati differenti. In questo caso l’atomo di carbonio dopo una lunghissima trasformazione diventa diamante un minerale raro, ricercato e costosissimo desiderato da chiunque , la grafite dall’aspetto meno bello e maggiormente reperibile che però è utile e indispensabile soprattutto per noi studenti. Il diamante e la grafite a prima vista sembrerebbero due materiali del tutto diversi, ma se invece si facesse una ricerca, si scoprirebbe che entrambi sono forme allotropiche del carbonio. La bellezza è soggettiva, Infatti cose che ad alcune persone piacciono, ad altre potrebbero non piacere, lo stesso vale per la grafite e per il diamante, a molte persone piace il diamante ma ad altre piace la grafite. A livello estetico sono molto diversi, Infatti penso che tutti se dovessero scegliere tra grafite e diamante, sceglierebbero il diamante perché è Lucente, splendente e poi Parliamoci chiaro, avere un diamante fa figo, invece avere della grafite è una cosa banale e comune. Ora bisogna porsi una domanda, A quale prezzo? Infatti la grafite si può ottenere con pochi centesimi, invece per avere un diamante bisogna sborsare abbastanza di più. Un altro aspetto positivo della grafite è il grafene, che grazie adesso sarebbero possibili numerose innovazioni e soprattutto ad un prezzo minore. Tirando le conclusioni, si capisce che la grafite non è così "inutile"di quanto sembra. Giacomo Cavallini Se possiamo fare una similitudine di questi due minerali in relazione alla loro bellezza e struttura nella società, possiamo immaginare questa società,o gruppo di persone, in cui gli elementi costituenti sono uniti da legami profondi, legami che li tengono uniti. Tali elementi,
dunque, formano una sorta di “diamante”, resistente e robusto,,,ed anche prezioso. Prendiamo in esempio, ora una società i cui elementi non sono uniti da legami di senso. Essa, proprio come la mina della matita, si sfalderà al primo contatto con un problema. La forza di gruppo (o di una società) sta nella forza dei legami che la tengono in piedi: più forte è il legame più forte è la società. Sembra una stupidaggine ma è, in realtà, una grande verità: viviamo in un mondo di grafite, in cui la paura e la mancanza di fiducia creano legami fragili. Ognuno di noi è chiuso nel suo sé, nelle sue necessità, nel suo cellulare, arrivando a perdere di vista l’altro… ma senza l’altro noi non siamo nulla: l’uomo è un essere relazionale, e solo relazionandosi può essere pienamente sé stesso. Il Diamante e la Grafite a prima vista sembrerebbero due minerali molto diversi fra loro, ma non è così. ( sono tutti e due derivati del carbonio). La Grafite è un materiale sottovalutato perché costa poco ma ha anche delle qualità positive, per esempio è molto resistente. Il Diamante oltre a essere resistente, è anche molto bello, per questo le persone se devono scegliere tra questi due prodotti la maggior parte di loro sceglierebbe il diamante perché è più bello.La grafite non così tanto inutile come sembra perché è usata ogni giorno da noi studenti mentre il diamante viene usato raramente.Simone Arcieri Anche se può sembrare impossibile, un prezioso diamante e una punta di grafite di una matita, sono costituiti dallo stesso elemento: il carbonio. La loro differenza consiste solo nella disposizione degli atomi che li compongono: nel diamante ciascun atomo di carbonio è circondato da altri quattro atomi, nella grafite da tre. Quindi a fare la differenza è solo un piccolissimo atomo. Questo vuol dire che uno stesso elemento può trovarsi in natura in più forme distinte, con proprietà molto differenti. Il diamante infatti è durissimo, fonde a 3500 'C, non conduce elettricità e fa deviare molto la direzione dei raggi di luce che lo colpiscono, producendo così il suo caratteristico brillio, per non parlare del suo inestimabile valore. La grafite al contrario è tenera ma anche essa ha un altissimo punto di fusione, si presenta di colore grigio, ha debole lucentezza ed ha una buona conducibilità elettrica. Inoltre per la sua facile reperibilità ha una notevole diffusione a differenza del diamante che oltre ad essere un oggetto del desiderio di molte persone per la sua straordinaria bellezza risulta accessibile economicamente solo ai pochi che se lo possono permettere. Il Diamante e la Grafite a colpo d’occhio sono minerali completamente diversi, però bisogna ricordarci che tutti e due sono derivati dal carbonio.Se andiamo a guardare le caratteristiche fisiche notiamo che la grafite, che sembra io minerale più “povero” alla vista è invece quello con caratteristiche fisiche migliori. Dobbiamo anche ricordare che la Grafite ha un costo più accessibile e molti utilizzi, il diamante invece ha un costo molto elevato e appunto per questo i suoi impieghi sono ridotti.In parole semplici, la Grafite non è così inferiore rispetto al Diamante. Giulio De Sio La bellezza esteriore, è per la maggior parte delle volte, un aspetto soggettivo, perciò delle volte è sempre meglio andare ad ispezionare la bellezza interiore di una qualsiasi cosa che prendiamo in considerazione. Per bellezza interiore, esaminando ad esempio un minerale, si intende di andare a vedere la sua struttura cristallina, e magari confrontarla con una di un
altro minerale, così da trovare le differenze che ci sono fra i due, ad esempio. Infatti questo è quello che abbiamo fatto noi, utilizzando la grafite ed il diamante, e andando a creare anche una tabella sulle differenze che abbiamo notato. La grafite ed il diamante sono due minerali che possiedono una bellezza esteriore molto diversa fra loro. Il diamante ha un aspetto estetico mille volte superiore, all’aspetto della grafite, anche se non è efficace come quest’ultima. Infatti, con la grafite e con il grafene (un suo estratto), si possono fare moltissime cose, a cui l’uomo sta già provvedendo per costruirle, dato che la grafite è un materiale, che riesce abbastanza a sostenere il peso, basta pensare che 1g di grafene, può sostenere una forza di 4 kg. In più il grafene può essere utilizzato per la costruzione di batterie, dato che gli elettroni passano molto velocemente al suo interno, essendo un super conduttore. Si prevede che nel futuro la grafene, potrà sostituire in parte il litio. Andrea Bianucci
