Phyllis Willson (Ellis) of Eden, NY entered into rest March 17, 2016, age 96. Wife of the late Colonel C. Ross Willson; mother of the late James D. (Susan) Burdick; daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Catherine Ellis; sister of Josephine (late Matthew) Pellitier, Norma (late Walter) Zimdahl and the late Joseph Jr. (late Jean) Ellis, Anthony (Joyce) Ellis, Rose Ann (late Adolph) Krueger and Lucille Mack.; Aunt of Becki Crosby, J. Scott (Bonnie) Ellis, Anthony F. Ellis, Gina (Jeffrey) Truby, Catherine (Richard) Rogers, Christina (Christopher) LeRoy, Stephen Ellis, Gary (Marcie) Krueger and Toni Crawford. Phyllis was a graduate of Angola High School and SUNY Fredonia where she earned her B.S. Degree in Education. She also studied at Cornell and St. Bonaventure Universities. Phyllis and her husband were instrumental in establishing several scholarships at SUNY Fredonia and has been honored on several occasions for her generosity. Over her 42 year teaching career she taught at Holland, Bolivar and Lake Shore Central Schools, retiring in 1981. Memberships included Lake Shore Retired Teachers Association, New York State Retired Teachers Association, South Towns Retired Teachers Association, National Trust for Historic Preservation, American Association for University Women, Eden Historical Society, Eden American Legion Auxiliary, Eden Women’s Bowling League and the L.K. Painter Community Center. Family will be present to receive friends Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 9 to 10 AM in the Addison Funeral Home Inc. 262 N. Main Street, Angola NY where services will follow at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215 ___________
William A. Gambee
William A. Gambee of Angola, NY entered into rest March 30, 2016; loving husband of Bonnie (Ford) Gambee; dearest father of Robert (Carrie) Gambee, Debra (late Joseph) Gambee, William Gambee Jr., Susan (Frederick) Wilhelm, Lisa (Michael) Guenot, Linda (Ric) Gambee and Michelle (John) Ciciera and the late Donald Gambee; also survived by 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; son of the late Lewis A. and Mildred Gambee Mr. Gambee was a life long resident of the Town of Evans where he worked for many years along side his father in their blacktop and landscape business. Later he owned and operated his own business, Gambee and Sons Repair in Derby. After retirement he and his wife of 58 years, Bonnie, traveled extensively throughought North America. Mr Gambee was proud to be a donor of over 15 gallons of blood along with Apheresis for the Red Cross. He is still looking for a “pound of tweny’s”. Memorials may be made to the First Church of Evans, Derby, NY where Mr. Gambee was a lifelong member. A celebration of life was held Saturday, April 2, at the family residence. Richard “Rick” Oswald, formerly of Derby, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in an avalanche on Mt. Bailey, Oregon. (Pepper) Weinheimer and Donald Sharkey Sr.; dear brother of Paul, John, late Christopher, Wendy, Scott and Melissa; very special nephew of Wanda Serena; also survived by many aunts,uncles,cousins and friends; grandson of the late David and Karlene Serena, Late John and Ruth Sharkey and Lester and late Virginia Weinhimer. February Citizens of the Month for the 2015/2016 School Year
Travis Gamache Travis Gamache is the son of Steven and Lisa Gamache of Derby. He is a sixth-grade student at Lake Shore Middle School and has been selected as a CRC Citizen of the month for February 2016. In school, Travis’s favorite subject is math. He is active in several sports including: baseball, hockey and the 100 mile club. He is considering a career in either professional sports or airline pilot. Travis’s favorite thing in the world is playing baseball or hockey. The character traits he feels are most important for continued success are “to be kind, respectful and loyal.” Lindsay Nau Lindsay Nau is the daughter of Eric and Karen Nau of Evans. She is a seventh-grade student at Lake Shore Middle School and has been selected as a CRC Citizen of the month for February 2016. Lindsay’s favorite subject is math. After school, she participates in archery and has recently appeared in the middle school musical (Mary Poppins). She is interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Lindsay’s favorite thing in the world is family. The character trait that Lindsay believes are the most important for continued success is flexibility. Jacob Pregitzer Jacob Pregitzer is the son of John and Mary Pregitzer of Evans. He is an eighth-grade student at Lake Shore Middle School and has been selected as a CRC Citizen of the Month for February 2016. In school, Jacob’s favorite subject is science/biology. In addition to his studies, he is active on the school’s newspaper club and plays soccer with the Hamburg Monarchs. After college, he is considering a career in either professional sports or as a photographer. Jacob’s favorite thing in the world is to play soccer with his friends. The character trait that Jacob feels is most important for continued success is “determination, stating: “If you never give up at what you want to achieve you can accomplish it.” Contributed by Lori A.
