Art News from Around the School and Around the World…

And the “Art Star” of the Month is... I’m happy to announce that the “Art Star” award for December goes to Joey H. (Rm. 312). Please assist me in congratulating Joey for all the hard work, creativity, and independence that he has shown over the past month. Great Job!! Joey’s “Fall Tree” relief painting can be seen at right. Additional examples of the completed “Fall Trees” can be seen on page 3 of this issue of the Andersonian.

I wanted to send a “Thank You” to all of those who helped out the Art Program over the past month with art supplies/materials and advise, including Aaron W. (IT), Kendall W (Rm. 119), Barbara L. (Rm. 117), Cindy R, Christine C. (Rm. 119), and Kathleen Marshall. To all of you (and those of you that I may have missed) I say,

“Thank You!!”

Last of the Fall Art Projects Students have just completed the last of their Fall themed art projects. Below is an overview.

Fall Trees These relief sculpture paintings were created by using glue and paper towels as the Tree Trunks. Leaves were made by spraying Fall colored watercolor paints onto drawing paper. After the paper dried, it was ripped into small pieces and collaged onto Tree and Ground.

A’Vohn H. (Rm. 309)

Mathew M. (Rm.306)

Shemar L. (Rm. 125)

Pumpkins These Pumpkins were created by using cardboard as an applicator to spread Orange tempera paint over paper. After the paper dried pumpkins were cutout of this paper and collaged onto a background. Real hay was used to cover the bottom of the paper to give the final image a three-dimensional look. Heather H. (Rm. 313)

Dancing Monsters!! In this project, students had the opportunity to create their own “Monsters” using basic body part templates (arms, body, legs, tails, etc.). Students chose the number of body parts, color(s), placement, and facial expressions, thus making each “Monster” an individual. HAVE INFO TO SHARE?
